Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 100W 2x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

The folks at Blackstar must have read my mind when they created this amp! I already have idcore 20 and an id30 tvp. I've often thought if there was an amp like the core 20 but larger with stereo 8 or 10 inch speakers, that would be perfect. Well, here it is! I'm not going to go into great detail about the tone or the on-board effects, I'll just say that after getting the id30 I sold my ht40 tube amp and my pedal board, and this core 100 works even better! I like things simple, and it is very easy to find a good tone and an effect that works well with this amp. This is the most perfect amp, at least fory needs, that I have ever owned or used.

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 100W 2x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is not too heavy and has twin 10" speakers that produce a stereo effect using its internal effects settings. There is a good selection of effects and voices so you can get by without a pedal or use one if you like. I use a Boss GT-1 but sometimes set the GT-1 to Natural clean and use the Blackstar effects which are very good. Plenty of power and it has a bright sound. It seems well built and I think it uses class D amplification (switching) because it is very efficient. I believe most would love the amp.

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 100W 2x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

In my lengthy quest to find a decent modeling amp on a budget, Blackstar was recommended time and again for excellent modern metal sounds. I had this amp for 3 days before I returned it.
I play 7 and 8-string guitars, usually downtuned. I was surprised at how little bass response there was on this amp. I tried everything to get a full sound from this amp, to no avail.
On any setting, at any volume (even at 0), the speakers hiss very loudly. For a 100 watt stereo amp, the ID:Core seemed very quiet.
I tried for days to download and install the INSIDER software that "unlocks" the "hidden" features of the amp. I received no tech support from Blackstar until I had already returned the amp. The software requires a lot of crazy permissions (on Mac) to install. Once it was open, it was very unintuitive to use.
I will say this: the stereo field and effects did sound amazing. They filled my practice room very well. Also, the looper with infinite overdubs worked very well and was fun to play with. I also appreciated that there was an effects loop so I could still use my delay pedal.
Overall, this amp wasn't for me. I ended up going with the Fender Mustang GT100, which is exactly what I was looking for (and more) and worth every penny.
