I bought this for practice and mobility so I can walk around the house and play without cables and without bothering anybody.I think the sound quality is great, and I did not have any issues with fuzz like another reviewer mentioned. There is the active/passive switch, and the tone settings to tailor the sound. I found one setting I like and I'm just keeping it set to that.Volume is pretty good. I play it about 70% up and it is plenty loud there. For a portable unit this fit the bill perfectly for me. I also like the adjustable design for plugging in - seems like it should fit any type of jack. It also plugs very true into my bass - I don't have any fear of it falling out while I walk around and play. The supplied headphones are not high end, but they are Ok for me so I'm using them. At some point I may get better ones but for now the supplied ones are good enough for me.It also comes with several cable and attachment accessories, which was a bonus.

This would be a great little headphone amp -- if it actually worked. I'm just about to return unit number two. Both so far have failed in exactly the same way. It works fine for a little while (I got about 2 hours out of the first, maybe 30 seconds out of the second), but then it starts repeatedly resetting itself. From there it's all over; nothing will get it to work properly again.

I can understand getting one bad unit. It happens. But two in a row (had to wait for the second, it was on backorder) with the exact same problem is starting to indicate either a design flaw or bad components. Maybe third time's the charm? I'm not holding my breath.

Don't drop it

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rock-It V1b Bass Headphone Amp:

The features are great. I use it with sound deadening headphones and it sounds much better. I like how I can plug in external device such as an ipod and adjust the volumes of each. I would have rated it higher except it was accidently dropped, (on a carpet floor), and now it functions intermittently. It can be a bit fragile.

      Great little headphone amp!

      By Steven Tydingco

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rock-It V1b Bass Headphone Amp:

I think the product does what it says it will do, sounds great and the price is terrific. If they would only allow the plug to fold completely down (for easier storage), and include better headphone or earbuds, then I would rate it a 9 possibly a 10.
I don't do much with the tone adjustments as it sounds pretty good right out of the box. The inclusion of a variety of adapters for audio input devices was a great bonus! I thought I would have to go out and buy a stereo mini plug adapter for my ipod/iphone to the unit - so it was a nice surprise to have it there.
Feels a bit flimsy but I supposed the lightweight plastic is used so it doesn't disengage from the output jack on the bass. Crappy headphones - don't even bother with it. Mine arrived with one of the ear pieces in pieces.
Because it is relatively inexpensive I think it is a good value. It works well for me and I like all the adapaters for audio input devices.

Solid buy, sounds good, performs well. just have to get decent headphones.
Sounds like me playing through the headphones, nothing spectacular. C Tech Pocket Rock-It V1b Bass Headphone Amp with Fender J-bass.
Not really robust... My headphones arrived with a somewhat rattly right headphone, and the sound is all bass which is not a bad thing. Good volume.
Solid buy, sounds good, performs well. just have to get decent headphones.

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rock-It V1b Bass Headphone Amp:

This thing works as advertized. I needed something small and battery powered that I could plug earphones into for practice. I usually use my "real" preamp and a mixer, but I needed something more portable for travel. The two amp simulators sound decent enough (I wasn't expecting much and they met my expectiations). I only use the "tight" channel as it has much better definition - the "big" channel is muddy, but I guess some people like that or they wouldn't have made it that way. I have no intention of plugging this into a PA, that's what I have my SansAmp for, so I can't comment on how it sounds "for real."The headphones it comes with are trash, but it sounds decent enough for practice through my shure in-ear monitors. I've also used the aux input with both my laptop and ipod and it works as expected. There's no seperate level for the aux in, but its no big deal because I can just adjust the output volume of my ipod. It has a lot of gain - I have to use the "active" mode which I don't have to do on bass amps. The input plug is pretty silly since I've never seen a bass with a strat-slyle output jack. It would be better to have a regular input jack since this thing is too awkward flopping around on the bottom of my bass. I use the supplied adapter and a regular guitar cord and it works tolerably. Bassically, this thing does what you'd expect, you'll just need a decent set of headphones or ear buds. If you want something with real features and that sounds good enough to record or go direct to the PA, look at the Behringer VAmp, I used to own one of those and was quite happy with it. It's just bigger and doesn't take batteries.

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rock-It V1b Bass Headphone Amp:

first off, this unit is only as good as the headphones you use. What comes with it isn't the greatest. I play an Alembic 5 string with Etymotic ear buds which are towards the high price end. BUT, i get good sound quality including my low b string. If you push this unit, you will get distortion. Quite frankly you wont need to get that loud. There is some high end white noise. It has 2 input jacks, one for your phones and the other for an external sound source like an ipod. There are some filters. All in all, for practicing or playing at night, its a pretty good deal. I did have issues getting the battery to seat and getting to lock in.

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rock-It V1b Bass Headphone Amp:

I bought this system because I basically didn't want to haul around my 90 lb Ampeg bass amp. I figured it would be kinda cheap and not really work too well, but it really surprised me. It works pretty well if you scrap the headphones that come with it and get some decent Sonys or even better, Sennheiser headphones that can actually pick up some bass. It comes with all the cables you would need, line in (to play along with music), a 1/4" converter and even a splitter so there were no issues with what was included. It does need a 9-volt battery so keep that in mind. I also use it with an active-bass and no issues with that either.

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rock-It V1b Bass Headphone Amp:

I was expecting to get it and have to replace the headphones right away. But to my suprize the headphones work flawlessly so far and are crystal clear. The unit has an amazing sound for such a small device and inexpensive price. The tone quality is not as good as my David Eden stack but lets see here, my Eden stack was over $2000. It does everything it is supposed to do and it does it very well. I play an american made Stuart Spector 5 string and it loses none of its sound. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to practice quietly stop looking, this is what you want.

I got one of these for Christmas 2009 and it died after a couple of months. I tried replacing the battery but it was still dead. The concept is great, but the quality should be improved upon. I had an older version of this that I used for 3-4 years before it finally died.

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rock-It V1b Bass Headphone Amp:

The first one that I received didn't work. The second one I got works fine. It's a pain to get the battery cover on once you insert the battery, other than that, I'm completely happy with it. It comes with all the adapters you'll need to hook it up to just about anything.
You'll want to get a pair of really good headphones, the ones that come with it are junk, but with a good set you can actually get some good tone out of it.
I wish I would of bought this years ago.
It has some different tone selections to pick from. Nothing that will knock your socks off but it can be fun to play around with them.
It feels like it's built rather cheaply. I think if I dropped it, it would shatter.
It's a fairly inexpensive practice aid and it does what it's supposed to do.

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rock-It V1b Bass Headphone Amp:

I just picked up this mini amp and am very satisfied with it. The rotating input jack allows easy plug in to all of my guitars. I really like the type of sound effects this little amp gives out. Pretty high tech. Not bad considering its size. It's very convenient so I don't have to lug my other amps around. The best part about this item is that I can play it very late or early in the morning without disturbing others. Probably the only negative is the cheap headphone that comes with it. If you have a better one then use that instead. Otherwise, it's a very good accessory for the money.

        Strange oversight in design

        By Anonymous

        from Undisclosed

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rock-It V1b Bass Headphone Amp:

I purchased this device primarily for use as a headphone amplifier, and this it does fairly well. I have tried other units for the same purpose, and the Pocket Rockit compares well, which unfortunately does not say much! The first problem I encountered was the shallowness of the battery compartment. The 9 volt battery stuck up too much for the plastic cover to close. The circuit board is protected from the battery by only a thin piece of foam, and trying to force the battery cover into place would either break the little plastic tabs that secure the cover or endanger the circuit board.I was so disappointed with this that I almost put the device away for return, but figured I might as well give it a listen. I put a rubber band around the battery and plugged it in to my Traben Bass, switching the unit to "active". I immediately found the unit hard to see, as my cable jack in the guitar is on the bottom edge. I used the adjustable male jack on the V1b to bring the control panel into view, but had to rotate the bottom edge of the guitar body upwards to see it. Once I had the device adjusted, I turned it up and found the sound to be pretty decent, with a bit of adjustment. Harmonics came through nicely, as did the d-tuned lower string.Overall, if they fix the battery compartment issue, it is an ok headphone amp for the money. It also can take input from an outside source.
