the ok has a great bluesy lo-fi sound that sputters and crackles all over the place, but with a gate to keep things in line. i love to use the ok stacked for it's unique texture or crazy oscillation. and it's great for livening up recycled beats.
...this pedal is one of the most unique and simple fuzz pedals around (not to mention way worth it's affordable price). However, I do think it is necessary to say that it might not seem to be the most practical for all applications. With the control knob maxed all the way to the right, you get really great thrashy (with a hint of stuttering) and harmonically rich fuzz tone. But just wait till you put it after some kind of distortion or overdrive. The combination of the OK running after a buffered pedal makes the OK's control knob extremely sensitive and allows you many ways to experiment with weird and staticy fuzz awesomeness!!! While this is a good way to get the most out of your OK when using guitar or bass, there are also many interesting ways to incorporate the OK to drum beats and/or synth patches.
Devi's pedals, at least most of the ones I've owned, aren't really geared towards to tone snobs and the like. For some one like myself, however they're a god send. The OK usually requires a booster of some sort for guitar and bass, but if your running line level instruments through it, it works wonderfully on its own. As someone who is interested in synths, I usually shy away from distortion, because in my opinion it has a tendency to completely mask a patch. While the OK certainly dominates a sound, its has such unique potentially chaotic character to it that I can't help but love it. For sound mangling the Devi artifacts are a much better deal than lets say Metasonic units. In summary this is the only distortion pedal I'll ever need, however if your a guitarist or bassist your probably going to need a booster for it.
This pedal is very impressive when it comes to mangling sound. I quite frequently run drum loops and sequenced synth bass through it with amazing results. It also is an excelent choice to run inline with another distortion or fuzz to create that over the top distorted, cutting in and out nine-inch-nails solo type sound. Used by itself on guitar it creates anywhere from a really crunchy overdrive to a stuttering fuzz. I love it and would highly recommend it to anyone who thinks the average distortion pedal is too limiting!
