OVERVIEW

Weep, wail, and moan with blues-drenched tone.

The DigiTech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Distortion Pedal is designed for guitarists who need a pedal that gives them total control of their tone and is highly responsive to playing dynamics. Playing the Screamin' Blues pedal lightly produces mild overdrive, but dialing up the gain and digging in hard makes it sing with ultrarich harmonics and sustain. Low and High tone controls give you the flexibility to boost or cut the bass and treble frequencies. The Level knob boosts the output level of your signal, and the Gain knob dials up the distortion. An Amp output on the DigiTech Screamin' Blues pedal goes to your amplifier and the dedicated Mixer output has a cabinet emulation circuit that lets you run direct into a mixer or recorder when you don't want to lug your amp along.

FEATURES
Level controls distortion output level
Low adjusts boost and cut of bass frequencies
High adjusts boost and cut of upper harmonics
Gain sets the maximum distortion amount when playing your hardest
Dual outputs: The Amp output is for connecting directly to a guitar amplifier; the Mixer output features Cabinet Emulation circuitry for connecting directly to a mixing board or recording device

Got the blues? If you don't have this pedal, you do. Get it now and learn to really cry.

Does a great job at a great price. If you don't already have an overdrive pedal, this is good.

Pay attention to the other posts that point out this is not a distortion pedal. It's not really that good at distortion. I use a Digitech RP100A with the "Fuzz" setting for that. This pedal boosts your signal and pushes the tubes on your valve amp to dirty it up.

Like I said earlier, compare reviews on this site and demos on You Tube.
One more knob than its competitor, the Boss Blues driver. Important to note that this unit can use the same power source as the other digitech machines, including the RP80.

At first, I didn't know how to use it, so I stashed it in the basement. Recently I retrieved it from its dungeon to try using it to boost my signal into a 1964 Gibson Falcon Crest. Oh, my gosh, this will provide the perfect overdrive sound for a song like Badfinger's "No Matter What."

Please, before you buy this, look at all the reviews of this pedal, the Bad Monkey, and the Boss Blues Driver, on You Tube, to see what this pedal will do. If you have a tube amp, it will provide just the right amount of dirt for blues and 60's=70's blues rock tunes.

You will notice that all the YouTube demos start with the knob positions at 12:00. That seems to work pretty well for me as well. The only knob I adjust is the gain, and I usually take it to the 8:30 position.
The only complaint I have is that the battery connection is not very good. I have to pry the positive connection off with a screwdriver. I recommend that you buy the PSR200 power supoly.
I don't know for sure, since I don't have these pedals. However, I have watched almost every review on You Tube of this pedal and compared it to reviews of the Bad Monkey, the Tube Screamer, and the Boss Blues Driver.

If you want to spend more money and get the same results, get the Boss.

If you want to spend the same money and get a slightly muddier sound, get the Bad Monkey.

If you want to spend the same money and get a slightly muddier sound, get the Tube Screamer.

If you want to get the Boss anyway, check a pawn shop. You might find one at this price.

The Digitech Screamin' Blues is below par. I bought it because I heard it was better than Boss's blues driver (standard, unmodified). Well, this stompbox does not really deliver. It has loads of treble, which is hard to cut down on. Even by reducing the treble and increasing the bass; the sound is not very pleasant. This pedal seemed to me either really trebly or really muddy. It does not give a good blues tone. It might be able to pull off a good classic rock tone if used with a darker guitar. I use a tele, and it is generally pretty bright. I think the Digitech Bad Monkey is a much better choice for blues players.

Comments about DigiTech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've been playing guitar for 44 years. This box is probably the best that I've used.It completes my pedal board.I'm playing it through a 100 watt Fender Frontman. The two most impressive features,to me, are that it doesn't color your tone, and it has such great response to your pick attack.I'm playing it through a clean Fender channel, and it kicks some serious butt. Also, the tone never got muddy.Individual strings were clear as a bell.Though not a pro,I play gigs several times a month.I'll use the Screaming Blues pedal anywhere. What a great value in a OD pedal! If you like hard rock, classic rock, blues rock,or just good ole blues you ought to buy it.

I cannot give this pedal enough praise! This and my dynacomp are almost always on on my pedalboard. The settings i've found that work really well (for those of you calling it too harsh) are
    Level- 3:00
    Low- 2:00
    High- 10:00
    Gain- 9:00
Perfect crunchy blues tone (on a strat through an AC30).
It replaced my tubescreamer! Buy it now before it gets discovered and the price goes up!

Comments about DigiTech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

For my guitars (Les Paul and SG) and my rig ('66 40 watt Fender Bandmaster through an Ampeg 4x10 cab) and my style (rock) this pedal gives me not only a great light overdrive but also a rich, fat classic rock distortion. The level dial does A LOT; this thing really boosts your signal. It gives me roughly twice the volume than my Danelectro overdrive pedal. Also this pedal doesn't thin or cut up your tone. I think the lingo here is "transparent". Some overdrive/distortion pedals sound like they just put my guitar tone through a cheese grater. Not this. It sounds like a natural extention of my amp. The bass dial is like the level dial; it's powerful. This pedal enhances the bottom end as well as give the dirt you want. The gain dial is smooth and progressive. At it's lowest position, it provides a subtle break-up great for rock songs with hard strumming. You can still hear every note of the chord. By the 12 o'clock position you'll have enough distortion for gritty palm-muted power chords. Crank it for rock solo work. Also, unlike some pedals which have too many and/or too-small dials, the controls are easy to read and operation doesn't require an owner's manual.

I've played The Boss Blues Pedal And The Zoom Blues Pedal, but they don't have the crunch and beefy thump to them like this pedal does. This pedal gives me the sound I've been looking for and I highly recomend it.

Comments about DigiTech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've had this pedal since I started playing guitar 5 years ago. I still use it, and people always ask me how I get my lead tones. The secret is this thing, the neck pickup on my strat, (and some delay). Unlike my DS-1 the level knob is POWERFUL. Some distortion pedals (Cough DS-1) max out at the same level as the clean tone. This pedal will push your volume way up there. It's great for huge solos and big powerful rock. I would suggest you try before you buy if possible. It might not be what you are looking for. I have had a love hate period with it, but eventually, I found it's strengths and never looked back. I love my lead tones. (P.s. I think around 2 c'clock is the sweet spot for the gain knob.)

Comments about DigiTech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I used this earlier today at my local music store just chillin and playin music with my buddy down there, tryin out guitars, amps, and pedals. They had a whole line of digitech ones so I said "why not"This is a great pedal, you can get crunch and bite or warm and mellow tones out of it. First off at the store I was using an epiphone sg junior through a small behringer, I think v force or something like that. Then i tried it with a signature dimebag darrel guitar and this thing screamed! it sounds awesome and when i have some extra money i'm gonna buy it cuz my primary distortion (boss ds-1, awesome pedal by the way) is a little too distorted for green day kind of music (which i play a lot of) and I don't want to change the settings in between songs (the ds-1 is also perfect for heavy stuff or grittier stuff) and my sd-1 SUPER overdrive sucks its like defective. This screamin blues is insanely better and can get super aweseome tones out of it.

Comments about DigiTech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal has good overdrive, but where it really shines is when you use it with other pedals. I can use it alone for a good blues tone, just to dirty it up a bit. However, when I paired it with my Boss MT-2, wow. Double wow. It took a little tweaking, but the sound is so fat and heavy it makes my Strat sound like it has humbuckers. When I use it this way I cut the highs back and inch the bass up with the gain set about a quarter available. A little level adjustment and it's done. This pedal is good standing alone, but it will squeeze every little drop out of your distortion pedal. It even sounds good boosting the dirty channel on my amp.For the price you can not beat this pedal, especially if you need a good tube sound from a solid state amp. The last plus? It doesn't kill tone. It's a bargain.

Comments about DigiTech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got this pedal after the massive disapointment (to thin, to weak) I encountered with my DS-1 while recording my band's demo. I had seen this a few times and when I tried it, I fell in love. I had to buy it right then. I redubbed all my guitar parts, and the difference was amazing. This pedal can dial up Stievie and Jimi just as easily as it can crank out Zakk, and Jerry(Cantrell). I would recommend this to all rock and blues enthusists.

Comments about DigiTech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is by far the best digitech pedal on the market in my opinion. IT has that totall Buddy Guy tone real punchy. The nice thing with this pedal is that you can go from tube overdrive to Raging heavy metal distortion. What I do is run a Bad Monkey as a light overdrive and this pedal for more of a heavy blues distortion. So I can switch between the two and have two completely different sounds. This is a great pedal.

But remember it an overdrive and distortion pedal. If u have the Big Bucks then i would recommend the Seymour Duncan Blues tube pedal.. But its literally 4 times the price of this.. But anyways its a great pedal to add on too your pedal board... The Digitech Blues Screamin Rocks

This will give you the classic van halen or ac/dc type tones without that nasal honk that comes with things like the metal zone. You might wish for a tad more gain. But if you need thatI suggest putting an eq or compressor in front to give a slight boost. But it does provide a full sustained crunch. The bass and treble controls provide all you need. It's called the screaming blues but I think it's better than the best tube screamer.
