OVERVIEW

(Open Box) A massive 800W of power with real tube overdrive built in.

Combining the best of authentic Fender bass sound with modern power, the Bassman 800 Head is an easily portable powerhouse with flexible, thunderous tone. Designed for the ultimate bass playing experience, it offers two versatile channels, classic good looks, and ultra musical Fender tube tones—all in a lightweight chassis (only 17 lbs.) that mates perfectly with Bassman Pro Neo speaker cabinets to create a tonal monster.

The foundation of the Bassman 800’s tone is the two-channel tube preamp. Powered by a pair of premium 12AX7 tubes, this flexible preamp offers Vintage and Overdrive voicings, making it perfect for any style of music. The Vintage channel provides classic Fender bass tone thanks to its highly interactive passive tone circuit that cuts frequencies instead of boosting them, giving each note a distinctive thickness with no high end
fizz. The Overdrive channel cranks out genuine tube-driven overdrive, while its active 3-band tone circuit with variable mid frequency and blend control makes it easy to unleash a variety of sonic flavors, ranging from polite to aggressive. This highly musical preamp is matched to a cool-running solid-state Class D power amp that delivers an arena-filling 800 watts of power.

Equally at home on stage or in the studio, the Bassman 800’s rear panel sports a tuner output and effects loop, as well as a flexible pro-level XLR line output with level control, pre/post EQ switch, ground lift to eliminate hum and Silent Recording capability. The combination output jacks support both speakON (2- and 4-pole) and 1/4-in. connections, making it easy to connect almost any speaker cabinet. The included footswitch lets you effortlessly switch between the preamp channels on stage, adding even more flexibility to the amplifier. Packed with powerful, highly malleable, authentic Fender bass tone, the Bassman 800 is an inspiring amplifier that
punches well above its weight class.

Comments about Fender Bassman 800 Hybrid 800W Bass Amp Head:

I've only had it for a few days but I'm falling in love. Incredibly light and easy to move around! So light that I wouldn't mind using it as a preamp for a recording gig or hauling it to a live show that already has a bass rig waiting for you. Buttery-smooth vintage tone, the best bass overdrive in the world and all the power you could ever want. I'm currently pushing two Trace Elliot 350w 8ohm cabs with no effort at all, a 4 x 10" and 15".

The Bassman 800 has the same tube preamp and tone section as the 100T but uses a solid state power section, ditching the heavy 5-tube layout. The glitchy auto-biasing feature of the 100T's tube power amp section is the only issue with that amp, the 800 doesn't need it. The result? Same sound, improved reliability and drastic reduction in weight!

Worth noting: The Bassman 800 comes with a footswitch AND a black cover w/ Fender logo. Love the cover!

Comments about Fender Bassman 800 Hybrid 800W Bass Amp Head:

Everything I expected and more. I typically play through an Ampeg SVT4 Pro w/810 cabinet but wanted something more portable. I tried a few of the other small class D heads but wasn't impressed because for me the sounds seemed to processed. This amp is lightweight but has huge balls and can give you any tone you need from smooth to grind. Very easy to dial in a great tone, well built with no cosmetic flaws at all and it is the best looking head out there. Buy it you will say the same thing.

Comments about Fender Bassman 800 Hybrid 800W Bass Amp Head:

Easy to use with GK neo 412 and mid-60's p bass; playing old r&b w/horns. Used at several rehearsals and one outdoor gig. Provides exactly what I was expecting. Large form factor is not a negative in today's micro amp world. Great sound.

Comments about Fender Bassman 800 Hybrid 800W Bass Amp Head:

Great amp so far. (only had it a couple of weeks) Great tone, sexy looks, and at 17 lbs, my back is as happy as a clam. NOTE: I first purchased the Bassman 500 Hybrid. I push a Peavey 410TX cabinet in a fairly loud rock cover band. I had to run it halfway open, and with the deep boost engaged the clip light came on quite frequently. I decided I was working the 500 too hard and exchanged it for the 800.
