The Rust Driver Distortion Pedal from Hao was designed to recreate the classic sound of a late 60's Marshall Plexi running at full-bore grind. Its carefully selected components allow the Rust Driver to faithfully perform this function with any amplifier, at any volume level. The result is a commanding guitar tone with a tight, thick bottom and extremely low signal-to-noise ratio. A single knob controls output level and gain while 3 switchable EQ curves offer plentiful tonal options without compromising your guitar sound. When you need that "Plexi Sound" regardless of the playing situation, the Rust Driver is an affordable, reliable, portable alternative to the real thing.

Overdriven tones of late 60's British Plexi panel amps are still considered by many as among the best guitar tones. The Rust Driver stompbox is designed to produce thick, throaty sound, regardless of pickup types, that enhances the vital frequency range for electric guitars to cut through the mix. At the same time the Rust Driver pedal amazingly maintains a guitar's original tonal character. As a result, Rust Driver generates a tonal character very similar to those fabulous classic amps. With a preset 3-position EQ switch (Normal, Bright, Warm) and a Level control (amount of distortion is fixed), simplicity is the key to Rust Driver's unmatched tonal qualities.

baby makin!!

Comments about Hao Rust Driver Plexi Distortion Pedal:

Sounds oh so sweet. I use it just to kick up a little bit of dirt on my full rig. But sometimes, I just love to use it all on its own. It's no high gain distortion pedal, but if you want something that will give you great leads, and awesome clarity in your chords, then this is your pedal. Not that versatile, so you should probably try it out in person before you buy it.

One awesome pedal!!!

Comments about Hao Rust Driver Plexi Distortion Pedal:

I play mostly country music with a Fender Tele through a Fender Hot Rod Deville. I usually don't need a hot destortion but of course I want it every now and then. I was looking for a 60's Marshall tone and baby does this pedal nail it. (note: It's not a vintage Marshall plexi head, but for a pedal it's as close as you can get). The instructions are in Japaneese, but if you can't figure it out you shouldn't be playing. It has a level knob and a toggle on the side for a warm, high, and normal mode that's it. If you want a vintage Marshall tone out of a Fender amp buy this pedal it screams.

No Tone Control!!!

Comments about Hao Rust Driver Plexi Distortion Pedal:

The idea of this pedal is great. Unfortunately the lesson here is simple, "Never Buy An Overdrive Pedal Without A Tone Control!!" Don't get me wrong the Marshall sound is there but you have no control! The 3 EQ options are just not enough. In order to make any of them sound right you must adjust your amp, then everything except this pedal sounds worse. The normal mode is a little muddy, the bright mode is a little shrill, and the warm mode is by far the worst with an obvious db drop. The simplicity of this pedal hurt a great idea, its a shame. If your looking for a better alternative to a similar concept try the English Muffin by Electro Harmonix. Everything about the Muffin is superior, and it uses tubes! As they say it's a bloody masterpiece!

Classic way.

Comments about Hao Rust Driver Plexi Distortion Pedal:

I'm tired of being suckered into getting all these pedals that are supposed to sound like the classic Marshall sound. I grew up standing in front of those beasts. I later played through them and 80% of my cd's have old marshall amps. This thing honks and barks like all the other fizzy pedals. About as far away from Van Halen and Angus Young as the North Pole. Tech 21 GT2 and Radial Tone Bones are much more realistic. The Musicians Friend sells the Tech 21 GT2 and the Tone Bones so I feel you would like them better if ever really played the old Marshalls.

Killer Overdrive Pedal!!!

By Lally

Comments about Hao Rust Driver Plexi Distortion Pedal:

The Hao Rust Driver pedal is everything they describe: warm Plexi-like overdrive, simple to use, and extremely well built. My search is over, I have been pushing my Music Man 2x12 combo with an Ibanez Tube Screamer and a Boss Blues Driver, both really good pedals, but this one just brings it, extremely satisfied and recommended!!!!

Better than OCD!

By DrakkarNoir

Comments about Hao Rust Driver Plexi Distortion Pedal:

When first I got both OCD and this pedal, I had a crappy solid state practice amp. To be honest, it needed lots of tweaking to get something nice out of that amp with either pedal. Then I got Killer Ant and my life would never be the same! Killer ant has enough gain at high volumes but to go to classic rock/metal realm I like to use OCD or HAO especially at low volumes (bedroom level midnight practicing in a tiny apt!).I tried not to make this comparison but tone-wise, HAO is [much] better than OCD. I put HAO in a closet and just played with OCD for a while. It's a great pedal no doubt about it. It's more versatile and you have a master volume which is an absolutely necessary feature in my opinion. But this HAO is so warmer so nicer and smooth. OCD is almost useless after gain at 1 o'clock. You should play both to see the subtle but clear difference.A for OCDA+ for HAOIf I happen to need to get rid of all my pedals except one, it won't be HAO for sure. This will stay with me forever.
