i have been searching for a nice distortion pedal when i came across this. the shop was selling it for $150, which is a good deal, so i bought it, and i must say that i am very happy with my purchase.the LED lights are very bright so it's easy to tell what you're on, but it also has a bright/save switch, so you can have the lights be dimmer to save energy. the pedals themsevles are slightly wider then normal pedals, so when you have large feet like mine, you don't accidently hit the wrong one. to open the battery compartment, you just hit a button and it pops right open, instead of that annoying screw that some of my other pedals have. also the button to open it isn't in a spot where you can accidently step on it while your playing in a show, which is always nice. another thing is that it has an extra compartment for another 9 volt just in case if it dies, but you can always get the external power plug if you want. the only thing, is that you can't have both sides on at the same time. i wouldn't want to anyways, because it would dirty up your tone, but if your a metalhead then you might not like that.now, i'll tell you about the red (distortion) side. this side has amazing tone! i personally think it can be used for a great rythm tone, but you use it how you want. i instantly got a sound i loved right away when i turned that side on.now, the green (overdrive) side. i would describe it as a blues solo kinda sound. some people have said they don't really like it. i personally think it makes an amazing lead channel. after messing around with the drive and tone, i came across a very beautiful sound. add a comp pedal, and you get the most amazing tone that pierces through, so it doesn't get hidden by all of the other instruments when your playing in a gig.all together, this is an amazing pedal. it will suit pretty much any style of music, except maybe some metal or hardcore style music. so if you need a nice distortion/overdrive pedal, look no longer, because this is the obvious best thing to get.

I watched Steve Vai's video review on this pedal, and this thing looked too good to be true...and it was. The good part about this pedal was the green side really acted as a great boost for by Boss MetalCore. It really made everything more grittier. The red side was the real dissapointment to me though. In the video, Vai makes the craziest sounding distortion, but even with the drive turned all the way up, it still sounded like a basic overdrive. Im gonna be returning this pedal.

Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
First of all, if you are looking to buy this pedal because you want to sound like Steve Vai, don't waste your time. His sound is a combination of thousands of dollars of amps, pedals, and guitars, and his technique. In addition, the Jemini doesn't sound too good an its own, throught the clean channel. This pedal will not give you a good sound without help, you better like your amp's distortion (at least a little), or have a drive/distortion pedal you plain to pair it up with. That being said, this pedal is brilliant. Put this in front of your distorted amp, or in front of another distortion/drive pedal, and you will get smooth, flowing leads, and wild solo tones.I used to use mine with my am distortion, now I have it in front of a TC Electronics NovaDrive. In both situations it is incredible.Pros: Brilliant sound, quality built, durable, holds a spare battery (this definitely comes in handy)Cons: Price, not a stand-alone pedal, a bit noisey on the red side
Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
I basically wanted a nice sounding good looking distortion pedal to kick in front of my clean channel for replacing that junk MG Crunch Marshall sound. I came upon this pedal when my instructor got one when they first came out. With me not knowing what it was I saw the finish and my jaw just dropped. I looked at videos online and got it for Christmas of 2008. This pedal has so many tonality functions. You can kick the green channel in front of an already distorted amp or keep it in front of a clean for a thick smooth creamy overdrive. The red channel is best used for the clean channel, and wow does it scream. I don't keep the gain all the way up at all and STILL acheive the metal tones I need. Although it chips easily, I love it more than my satchurator. Another cool feature, during the painting process, every pedal is different. So you will have a one of kind color design! Definately recommend it.

Well done Steve & Ibanez. This thing sounds amazing! Built solid, onboard spare battery compartment, great layout. I love it!
Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
This pedal is great. It do anything from blues, vai stuff, all the way to metal. The green side is a good overdrive for that tubescreamer feel, while the red side (my favorite side) is the smoothest most natural distortion ive ever used, and ive used a lot, ds-1, distortion+, metal core, uber metal, dr. boogey etc. and this pedal is great kicks all their butts!!! You should really get this pedal. Its so cool.
Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
Overall, not a bad pedal, but it certainly doesn't sound (on my rig) like it does when Steve Vai demos it on his rig.
I haven't found much of a use for the green channel - I usually swap between pure clean and pure overdrive. The red channel is halfway decent, but a little fatter / tonier than I would prefer.
Battery compartment design is an improvement over many pedals.
Seems well built and well designed. Switch pedal perform well and remain quiet during switching.
For me it ends up being one distortion pedal for a couple hundred bucks
Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
Even though Vai says he does so, I doubt he uses this in front of a clean amp to get his signature sound a lot... I do believe he uses it in front of an overdriven or distorted amp, as a gain-booster, and for that, it works GREAT.This is a very very versatile pedal, and I dont agree to the GP review I read recently, complaing that both modes cant be activated simultaneously... I dont think thats necessary really, but thats just my opinion. The "green side" gives you nice overdriven sounds resembling the Tube Screamer to a certain degree, very nice for crunch sounds or to push your overdriven amp into lead-territory... very nice, I use this side most of the time in front of a distorted tube amp.The red side gives you more gain and a different voicing, reminding me of the classic DS-1 at times... which is one of Vai's favorites.I use this occasionally with a slightly overdriven tube amp, or to get gain-overkill for feedback or extreme sounds. This will NOT give you Vais sound, it of course is about the guitar, amp, pickups and mainly your playing. However, it DOES sound very good, and offers quite a lot of variety. You basically get 2 pedals combined as one, and this is not only a nice pedal for Vai-fans... classic rock, blues or metal-sounds are possible with ease, as long as you dont expect the "For The Love Of God" sound when plugging this into a 10 W clean solid state amp.
Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
I play a Bogner Uberschall 1/2 stack, along with several pedals(I don't like digital) such as Phase 90, Small Clone, Boss EQ, ISP Decimator, Morley Wah, Boss DD7, Hardwire Reverb, and a few others, and I was quite pleased with this pedal. The overdrive or left pedal is very subtle, I've owned a couple others, Tube Screamer and MXR Wylde Overdrive, and I find this one to be just what I was looking for. Simple, not overbearing and just enough to give me a nice little volume push and nice sustain. I'm not a distortion pedal fan, when you buy a good amp, who wants one? BUT, I stand corrected, this distortion, or right side pedal is FAT, and gives you a nice clean drive that compliments my clean channel, and offers me something different, almost like a 3rd channel to my two channel Uberschall, my only gripe is it's paint scheme is a bit fruity for me, but that's nothing a can of Rustoleum won't fix! I will say that if you're playing a Line 6, or some kind of cheap junker amp, don't expect a pedal to fix your problems, you need to start with a good guitar and good amp, this stuff comes later when you're shaping your tone.

Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
The hot side of this pedal is fantastic. I'm not the most experienced with effects, but it does what I want it to. However, I have a TS-9, and was hoping this unit would also replace that. But, the overdrive on this pedal is just not up to par. It has an artificial sound to it, which is understandable, but it did not hold it's own agains the TS-9
Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
I was always looking for some amazing distortion but this is the king of them all. Its amazingly versatile. Since it was designed to replace Vai's DS-1 and his Tubescreamer, its like the best of both of them plus more. Worth every penny!
Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
Depending on your amp and drive settings, I use a peavey and A Roland half stack, the noise level is horrible on red no matter how much compression or efeects I switch around and the sound is ify. The green though has a quieter noise level and sounds much better but stiil needs improvement. Overtime the paint is chipping on myne for some reason (dont know about yours) but other than that the pedal Rocks!
Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
Okay, lets get this thang started off right! Yes this is a cool effect pedal...why do we insist on using the term pedal? Yes it's a cool effect. Lets go with effect shall we? The left side or GREEN side is as drab as the curtains in your grandmas garage apartment. Crank it as hard as you can and it still leaves you looking at the receipt going, "You are so going back". Yes you were ripped off and I'm sorry. Now step on the right side or RED channel and you've got something to write home about. Kids I've used them all and I mean all. This is the fattest most harmonic laden effect in 9 volt history. It just kills! It kills! The GREEN side is pure show and fun and makes the pedal unique. The RED side is the gold side and should have been colored that way. I use it through a 65' Twin and a Mesa Triple Rectifier. The RED side will DOO DOO anything you want it TOO. Don't hesitate on this one. Yeah it's painted all spacey and hippie style, but this is Steve Vai and he wasn't born in 1988. He was shredding a guitar that looked like a flame when you were but a mera glimmer in your mama's eyes...and she wasn't even born yet so get over it. Buy this PEDAL...call it an effect. It's not a PEDAL. It's a fat mam-ah-jam-ah! I love it...
Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
If you are a good guitarist and need a very good and versatile something that will allow you to quickly switch among your clean sound, a great crunchy rhythm and a thick, smooth, creamy distortion for solos, this is the ONE for you. The "green" side is a great little overdrive for your crunchy power chords & chuggy rhythms, and you won't expect it to be a distortion if you have three brain cells or more. But when you need to kick in the high grear for soaring solos, you go red and do your magic. It's simple, it's efficient, it's outstanding value for the money, so by all means, if you know anything about playing guitar and need a versatile, simple stompbox with great sounds, search no more but click "buy" now.
Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
This pedal is by far the best distortion I have used, and believe me I have used them all. Boss and Digitech just can't beat this pedal. The overdrive is smooth, but crank up the gain and it will scream. Run the overdrive over another distortion pedal and it will roar! The distortion on this pedal is incredible, the best I have used. I use this with a Bad Horsie II wah, and a MXR sustainer with my ESP LTD MH-50 w/ Dimarzio Evolution pick ups. I wanted a $200 pedal, and I got what I payed for.
Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
I was scared at first to buy this pedal. I wanted a wide range distortion that can go from very light to in your face distortion and all I can say is wow. Vai and Ibanez deliver again. The Red Channel is gritty and has alot of distortion something I didnt expect since Vai doesnt really have that really metal distortion in most of his songs but its got it. It is only a tiny bit less distorted than my Crate FX165 combo and I love it. The green channel is crisp and clean and overall awesome. K'm Pee Du Wee is the perfect example of how this channel feels. The quality is amazing it plays great and looks awesome. Very functional. I highly recommend this pedal
Comments about Ibanez Jemini Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
This pedal is incredible! The distortion is easily the best I have ever used and the overdrive is just right. I use it with a delay/echo and susatain pedal which really help give it that big sound. If you are looking for a new distortion or overdrive pedal this is worth every penny!
