Like the other CMD amp models, the 151 combo has a built-in Little Mark II preamp to help you achieve your own signature sound. The Markbass CMD 151 also has 4-band EQ and VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) and VPF (Variable Pre-shape Filter) filters. Unlike other bass amplifiers, the Markbass CMD 151 has no tweeter. Jeff doesn't believe in them. And if you listen to any of his performances, you'll notice there's nothing missing in his sound. The 400W 15" Markbass custom speaker will give you all the sound you need with a tone you'll find impeccably unique and warm. Just like Jeff Berlin's playing.

I must admit I'm a bit of a skeptic. To get past all the popular buzz and hype surrounding this brand, I had to play this equipment for myself. Surprisingly in the first few minutes, I found the claims to be completely justified. Without a doubt, this amp is the cleanest and most faithful bass reproduction of any bass amplifier I've experienced.
Like most pro players, I have tried and probably owned about every high-end bass amp out there -- GK, Ampeg, SWR, Acoustic Image, etc. In my opinion, the Markbass CMD 151P is among the most accurate and pure bass amps on the market.
As a jazz musician, I play both upright and electric bass. My upright bass with a Shadow pickup and onboard preamp sounds exactly the same as played acoustically... just louder when going through this amp. It's like plugging into my home stereo system. To date, no other amp has offered such purity of sound.
When using this amp with my electric bass, the diversity of possible tones is amazing. It also works fantastic on slap & pop funk styles. There is absolutely no need for a high-frequency horn to achieve a great percussive sound (Jeff Berlin is correct on this point).
This is one of those rare pieces of gear that puts a smile on my face every time I use it. I could not be more pleased with my purchase... and it will probably be the last bass amp I ever buy. For a huge improvement in your sound, do your playing a big favor and check out Markbass gear for yourself. Although it is a bit pricey, this Markbass amp is truly professional equipment with an exceptional sound in a very transportable package.

Comments about Markbass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin Signature 300W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:
As a bass player of 15 years, I have been through much equipment and finally settled on this. In the two years I have owned it, it has been an excellent powerhouse which delivered great sound to all my electric basses (4, 5, and six strings), as well as my electric upright and regular upright. Great bottom end and not bottoming out, and surprising clarity for a 15 inch speaker. It is light weight and easy to transport and I plugged it into a similar dimension 15" Ampeg extension cab which matches its size and stacks great underneath the markbass.
I regret to give you the bad news, that after I had powered the amplifier on one day while at home (thank god I wasn't at a gig), it had shut off within 20 seconds. The fuse for the power supply had blown. I decided to change the fuse with the provided replacement, which had blown the second I powered the amp on again. I purchased four of the same fuses, and all four of those blew out as well after trying different power sources. Since this happened to me, I have read numerous horror stories with MarkBass amps having this same issue, usually resulting in Markbass needing to replace the entire circuit board, which is not a cheap fix after spending money on shipping to either California or back to Italy. Several people have complained from my research of this happening to a variety of Mark Bass line of amplifiers, which is unacceptable for a company that has successfully marketed itself as today's premier leader in the bass amplification business. I am extremely dissappointed.
I have purchased a new Hartke amplifier I can plug into the speaker inside the Markbass which I will use as a backup in the future when I do get this amplifier fixed, but I'll be darned if I don't have a backup if this is a common problem with Mark Bass.
As with other people complaining of this same issue, I am enraged that I am not the only one whose warranty expired two months prior to this incident happening.
Comments about Markbass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin Signature 300W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:
I bought this amp two years ago and really like it. Deep tones with lots of flexibity. I play jazz bass, precision bass, and upright bass. All the instruments sound good with the amp. I lugged an Ampeg Rocket Amp and this is very light easy on the back. Foot pedals work well this amp. You will like this amp.
Comments about Markbass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin Signature 300W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:
This is one of the punchiest, musical amps I have ever played through. I wanted a quality combo with plenty of bottom end and this is the ticket.I have played several of my bass guitars through this both active and passive and I can tell you it performs well with all of them. My favorite though is a Steinberger XP2 with tapewound strings, a match made in heaven. The amp is lightweight and very easy to move around. I use it in a home studio setting. This amp is loud enough for small club settings. It also rattles the walls of my house.I highly recommend this amp, especially if you are looking for lightweight power punching bottom end.
Comments about Markbass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin Signature 300W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:
I bought this amp after comparing it with several in its class because of its superior tone...The fact that is was solid state worried me at first (I'm a believer in tubes) but the tone is amazing. The VPF & VLE knobs makes it easy to get diferent (quality) tones on the fly. I have been a faithful Ampeg user for many years but this amp is almost as impresive. But I gave it 4.5 stars for the following reasons: first... this amp does not have a tweeter which limits it when it comes to modern rock sounds..also it will not growl (Ampeg users know what I mean)second...It does lose some tone quality if you turn it up above halfway (not severe but noticeable)Third...Its not that loud for a three hundred watt amp.But at a moderate volume, for blues and funk this amp decimates all....I would buy a Markbass amp again...they are a bit pricey but very high quality. So if you don't need extreme volume and want a light weight amp with great warm tone...this is a good buy...

Comments about Markbass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin Signature 300W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:
This is my all time favorite bass amp. The tone you get is more towards the lower and warmer end of things with the possibility for a Jaco style midrange presence or even a punky and rude punch if you change the settings.
Has amazing power for the portability. Doesn't have as much clean headroom as I would like but there's nothing else close at this size. The cabinet is quite large but not heavy, a tube guitar amp like a fender deluxe weighs more. Options for tone shaping are all here. My only critique is that this thing ought to have a compressor at this price, but my mark bass pedal compressor fills this void.
I bought a mint condition used one from this site and the condition was pristine. USed gear at this site is legit.

Comments about Markbass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin Signature 300W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:
After years of lugging around bulky, heavy equipment I finally bit the bullet and went for a Markbass. I was reluctant at first but I picked up the Jeff Berlin CMD 151, and WOW! This little guy really rocks. I am now considering adding the CMD 151 New York as an extension cab to really open the thing up.
Comments about Markbass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin Signature 300W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:
I picked up this amp for practice and small gigs mainly because I thought it would be easier to haul around than my Ampeg Rig. I rarely use the Ampeg anymore, I love the sound and power this combo has and will eventually pair this up with a 2 X 10" Markbass Cabinet. You cant go wrong with this amp.

Comments about Markbass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin Signature 300W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:
Puts out a tremendous amount of sound for its size and light weight (great for us greybeards). For a 15" it's not muddy at all - quite the opposite, in fact, but has an overall warm sound. My bandmates commented right away on the definition. Wide tonal range and a couple of interesting filter controls - VLE - makes it sound kind of like an Ampeg and VPF is a neat low/high boost. Very happy with it, since I don't do a lot of playing that needs heavy drive or distortion.
Comments about Markbass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin Signature 300W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:
It's a working bassist amp. Good sound, and it's the best power vrs. weight ratio combo. Cobined with another 8ohm cab it delivers 500W, very powerful even for mid sized venues.

Comments about Markbass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin Signature 300W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:
I play upright bass and have very limited access quality gear locally. It's difficult to know how an amp will work with my axe and reading reviews and product information information can only help so much. I was looking at used Markbass combo amps and realized with Muscians Friends discount and free shipping I could buy new cheaper than used.
The amp came, plugged my bass in, set all the tone controls to zero and VLE and VPF to off, turned up and started to play. This was the first time I have ever not reached for the tone controls immediately. I adjusted the VLE and VPF controls and they added warmth and dialed in my tone a bit more. I played with the tone controls and found I am most happy with them at zero but they do exactly what you would expect from them.
I am almost 50, I've played music professionally (for money) for years. I typically have low expectations for something I order online. I'm not a believer in the more is costs the better it is, my main amp for years was a Peavey KB300. I love this amp and couldn't be happier with my purchase so far.

Not bad by itself but when you pair it up with the matching 1x15 cab look out! Goes from 300 watts to 500 watts with a much fuller sound! Sound man and band members start complaining I'm too loud ! The drummer doesn't complain though. It it really shines with a MXR compressor to MXR preamp hitting the front end. Eq the amp flat & don't mess with the knobs on the far right. Use the MXR preamp to tweak your sound. Using Fender USA Precision & Jazz 4 stringers backed up by MiM's. Will handle low B with damage to your internal organs. Did I mention this is sooooo light weight?
