If you need a small, at home practice amp, this is a good buy. I saw the other reviewers that do not like this amp, But take into consideration that this is a small PRACTICE amp. It has clean and overdrive that work well, I wasn't looking for much more and if I was I would have certianly bought a larger more expensive amp. This amp sounds good practicing to jamtracks, but I don't recommend using a line in. the speaker is too small for all that activity. I have owned MANY amps through the years, and this is a nice little practice amp that is Very portable. If you need a lot of features or a lot ov volume, look elsewhere, But this is great for what it is. BTW, the 10 watts is plenty loud enough for practicing alone.
Not many features, but it's a 10 watt practice amp, so thats to be expected.
Good quality, very sturdy, with corner protectors.
I think it was a bargain.

i've been playing for a year some and this is the only amp i've had.it was great at first because i didn't know what a good amp sounded like and was a begginer , but now I HATE IT. The overdrive channel sounds horrible, it's like a really cheap crunch barley even distortion. the clean channel's alright nirvana unplugged ,nothing else matters and stuff like that sounds alright. there are some good things about the amp though, it's built to last very solid, the mp3 jack and headphone jacks are a really nice feature ( distortion sounds way better with headphones but still not great) and i'm sure the distorion would suit some classic rock and blyes player but i mostly do metal and it's HORRIBLE for it. do yourself a huge favour and get a line 6 spider IV or something instead

I bought this thing at a local music store and paid $80. I've wasted $80 before and probably will again. Boring little two-toned noise maker. My recommendation is don't waste any money on this thing, instead save an additional $80 and buy a little modeling amp. At least it will have something to make it interesting.

Awesome Amp!

By Brandon Arnett

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG10 10W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp (Black):

I had just purchased a used Fender Squier Strat, and had a short amount of money. Not wanting the small, tiny amps that my mom pointed out, I found the Marshall MG10 amp, and boy was it love at first sight. I brought it home and couldn't wait to play it. Great sound and quality. Definitely worth it. I am a beginner that started off on acoustic guitar, but wanted to move onto rock n' roll, and the MG10 worked great in helping with that! I strongly recommend this amp for beginner guitarists or anyone who is tight on money these days. Rock on everyone!
Clean volume, and includes an overdrive button with gain, volume and contour. Great!
The amp is great in sound and quality. But when played loud on the overdrive with volume high up and the gain high up, tends to get a bit scratchy, but worth it in the end.
Although a great amp, the price was a bit shaky. it is a lot for a 12 year old, believe me...but a great amp it is though...worth it

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG10 10W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp (Black):

My fiancee had one of these and I was in desparate need of a small watt amp for a small studiio production. I plugged my custom made Les Paul Jr. into it and it sounded like you would expect a Gibson/Marshall combo, but still missed some warmth and tone. So I took the back off of it and added a second mic to the back and instantly the warmth and tone was there! This is a great little amp

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG10 10W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp (Black):

I'm known as a Marshall-hater, and that's because IMHO Marshall has forsaken the "Marshall sound" over the last 20 years or so. Why bow down to Mesa-Boogie thunder when you have the Marshall roar to fall back on? But I digress. For an inexpensive, solid-state practice amp, I'm thoroughly impressed with this little beast. It has the crunch that made Marshall famous, the drive that made Marshall infamous, and the warm clean sound that usually gets overlooked in a good Marshall. I usually play around with one of these whenever I see one, just because I like the tone so much. I'm just about ready to abandon my tube snobbery and pick one of these up. You always need a good bedroom amp, right? Seriously, if you're looking for an inexpensive amp that sounds great, this is a great choice.

Decent Practice Amp

By orion315

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG10 10W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp (Black):

I have had this amp for nearly four years now. At first it was pretty reliable but after about three years it started making strange sounds while I was playing. These sounds could only be stopped by hitting the amp a few times. This has become particularly annoying. But, despite this, I still think it was worth the money. It is perfect for practicing in your bedroom or something like that. It has a surprising amount of volume for its size. One other downfall of this amp however is its distortion. The distortion is really pathetic so I recommend investing in a distortion pedal if you plan to buy this amp to play rock.

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG10 10W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp (Black):

This is one tough little amp. I was shocked at the loudness but should have known..it's a Marshall! Sharp clean sounds, good distortion for such a small amp and again, it's Marshall loud. I'm proud to add it to my collection. It won't do what my full stacks will do but it's a great little practice amp! To be built in Vietnam I am impressed with the overall quality. Buy it, you won't regret it!

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG10 10W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp (Black):

This amp is great. It was my first guitar amp and i love it. Even after three years of playing now i still love to go back to this little guy from my fender amp. I think the best settings for this thing are on the overdrive with the gain around 4 and the contour at 5. At that setting you get a great sound for rock. The only bad thing is the clean channel isnt that great. It's not terrible but it's not that great. I would highly recomend this if you play four year strong or set your goals type stuff for a great practise amp!

Awesome overdrive

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG10 10W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp (Black):

I tried the fender frontman 10 watt and was very disappointed in the distortion tone. the mg10 has throaty, powerful o.d. that is unmatched by fellow practice amps. The clean channel suits my needs entirely. I use it to amp my acoustic-electric occasionally and it does great.3 things surprised me when i first bought this:1. Noise. It hummmmed softly to itself constantly; even on clean channel. On overdrive the hum increased exponentially, but that was due in large to my poor wiring job on my home made les paul(epi humbuckers). It is much quieter now.2. Gain. when the gain knob is under half, the tone is rather different. Not what i would call soft distortion; more like clean with a muffled 'chunk' in the background. right at noon, the marshall distortion really comes out.3. VOLUME. this amp is almost too loud for me. i play on its quietest volume i can when i'm practicing. plenty of loudness to play with an 30-watt(or less) amp.If you play hard rock, classic rock, modern (3 doors down, Third Day), or best of all Van Halen; get this amp, tune up your frankenstrat, and play Ain't talkin bout love. it sounds so great on this little marshall you'll have to change your pants.

I use this amp only as a practice amp...It has a really "dry" sound...I just crank the gain for the fuzz...This amp sounds great at a low volume...No pedals should be needed for distortion...This is the smallest amp with the best distortion you can buy...

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG10 10W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp (Black):

I bought myself a no-name Les Paul copy and needed a small amp to learn on. There were cheaper amps, but I knew quality will beat price any day and I'm not sorry I bought this amp. Perfect for my basement room - rarely goes past 3 without someone beating on the floor to turn it down.

10 watts that sound like 50 !!!
For the price you can't beat it and if you did it probably would not hurt it because it's tuff stuff.
Sounds great and LOUD !!! Also a lot easier than packing around my full stack of Marshall's from room to room when I just want to sit in the living room and practice.
Did I mention... It's a Marshall !!!

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG10 10W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp (Black):

I bought this amp about 5 years ago...and it sounded terrible...like a pocket AM radio. I sold it and bought a used 30W Fender Champ (still have, sounds small but nice), then a 20W Marshall Transtube (sold because of avg sound quality...inferior to used Fender Champ)...bought a Line 6 SpiderValve 40W, 1x12 (wonderful tube amp!!!!), then bought Line6 Spider Jam 2x12, 120W (nice but inferior sound to Spider Valve). Forget the Marshall name. Don't buy this cheap sounding practice amp...ever...you'll not want to practice!

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG10 10W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp (Black):

I've had this amp for a few years now. I've honestly done everything I can think of to blow the speaker, but it wont break. It's small enough to practice at home and loud enough to play small live shows. The distortion channel is what defines marshall amps from any other on the planet. if I were you, i'd but 2 of them, it would still be a good value.
