Good amp for medium volume practice settings. Apptek is pretty lame but I didn't buy the amp for that.

Comments about Ashdown Vintage 12-75 75W 1x12 Bass Combo Amplifier:

Got this for my students and they love it. As a stupid deal, I couldn't go wrong. Paired it up with the Ashdown 4x12 cab for the annual concert my lil' rocker students put on. Very good tone.

Comments about Ashdown Vintage 12-75 75W 1x12 Bass Combo Amplifier:

I had read both good and bad things about this company's amps. I'm a very new player on the bass guitar, only a year (been playing keyboards for 30+.) I haven't had it long enough to comment on long term reliability and that's what most of the negative comments have mentioned. On a SDOTD price, this thing is a freakin' steal! The sound is great. Full, deep, and plenty loud to play in a band situation / small gig. I've used it in a 3 piece with what I would consider a very heavy hitting drummer and no one complained they couldn't hear the bass.

I just picked up an amp stand to get it off the ground as it isn't exactly an 8x10 cabinet in height, and it helps put the controls at an accessible height rather than bending over to adjust anything. I haven't tried connecting it with an iPad for connection with pedal effects within iOS, but it comes with the cable to use with your device so that's just a bonus to an already great sounding amp. It has a drive feature that I haven't used yet. It's correct what I've read that it pops when turned on or off which isn't ideal, but I imagine I'd find the sound I like and then leave it so it's not a concern for me. If the drive function isn't a set-it-forget-it option for you, then you should probably use a external pedal or iOS app for your drive if you need to change it on the fly.

It's not super heavy, but it's not exactly light either. it's been my experience that the weight of an amp goes a long way in telling if it's powerful enough, regardless of it's size. It's no exactly a science, but if an amp is heavier than it looks, then it's probably a good amp and clean even at high volume. It should only distort if you're telling it to.

Cheaper amps usually distort when cranked and not in the good way. Other than the drive function, I can't find anything about this amp that could turn anyone away from it. Do yourself a favor and check out this brand!

Comments about Ashdown Vintage 12-75 75W 1x12 Bass Combo Amplifier:

It's a great amp for the price and is exactly what I was looking for which is to use it in a theater. Don't need much volume but really like the useful features the direct out.
