OVERVIEW

(Open Box) Powerful sounds and a sophisticated appearance that shatter expectations for compact guitar multi-effect units.

The StompLab series of effect pedals are impressive new contenders that pack powerful sounds into compact and sophisticated looking metal bodies. Sound variations are categorized by style, such as rock, blues, and ballad, making it easy for even novice users to recall the desired sound. In addition to the StompLab IG's dedicated guitar modeling and the StompLab IB dedicated bass modeling, the lineup also includes the StompLab IIG and IIB which provide an expression pedal. With high-quality looks, plus its high quality sound, the StompLab series will be a great companion for the guitarist or bassist for years to come.

First check out the sounds!
Multi-effects units contain an incredibly diverse array of sounds that range from distorted to clean, and the sheer number of these sounds can be staggering. Although having a large number of sounds is a great advantage, it can also overwhelm the novice user, causing difficulty or confusion. The StompLab series is designed to be easily usable, even by novice players. Since each program is named with a musical style, such as rock, blues, or metal. You'll be able to find the perfect sound without being concerned with specific effect names. The musical styles are categorized into ten types, and cover everything from straight-ahead traditional styles to quirky, unusual sounds. There are ten variations for each category, so you're sure to find sounds you like.

Create your own original sounds!
Simply playing the preset sounds is a lot of fun, but you'll definitely want to create some of your own original sounds as well. The StompLab IIG contains 104 types of modeling effects. These effects are categorized as pedal, amp, drive, cabinet, modulation, delay, and reverb effects. When noise reduction is included, you can use up to 8 of them simultaneously. Each effect type provides multiple parameters that you can deeply edit to create your perfect sound. Since the sound engine is equivalent to those featured on the worldwide best-selling VT+ series of modeling amps and the ToneLab series of multi-effect units, you need no further guarantee of quality. Sounds you create can be saved as 20 user programs.

It looks great!
The StompLab series was designed with great care, not only for its sounds, but also for its superb aesthetic. You'll never get tired of the cool metallic exterior. The pedal design is reminiscent of the vintage VOX wah pedals, which is sure to boost inspiration. One of the attractions of the StompLab series is the high-quality appearance, which is unheard of among other compact multi-effect units. It sounds excellent, it looks great and it's compact enough to fit into a gig bag, so you can take it along with you anywhere your music takes you, quickly and easily.

Use the expression pedal for realtime control!
The StompLab IIG and IIB are equipped with an expression pedal that can be used to control wah and volume, and also the parameters of each effect. You'll be free to create unique original sounds that you've never heard before.

Packed with convenient functions including a tuner!
The StompLab series has a built-in chromatic tuner, so you won't need to provide one separately. The three-LED indicator makes tuning easy. For convenience on stage, there's a mute function that lets you tune without being heard by others. Headphones can also be connected, so you'll be able to play at home late into the night without disturbing anyone. Battery operation makes these units easily portable, letting you enjoy serious sound from your guitar or bass wherever you go.

The Stomplab has some very good patches right out of the box better than most MultiFX units. I rarely get to say that. Since I like to try them all, I think it excels in areas that can outdo expensive pedals. The amps sound really realistic and have beefy snappy mids right in your face with great projection and pop. The tones are designed to sound good as you play with EQ settings the amps seem to stay in the zone of what you would expect an actual amp would do. The best way to really experience this is to plug into a Hi Fidelity home stereo etc. and listen to how detailed the mix is. There is a Tube Screamer that seems to actually enhance just about every amp you try it with when trying to get some edge. The clean amps are some of the best out of the box tube gain style sparkling U2 like rhythms with clearly defined picking separation. This is probably about as good as it gets for these type sounds. Very metal like ballading with chorus and delay. Def Leppard Bringing on the Heartache or Photagraph come off terrific. The crunch sounds are very realistic and the US Hi Gain is about as good as it gets for 80s Metal. I can compare this to the VT Plus series because I have it. This pedal sounds good and really excels with a Tube amp. The VT Plus is a tube hybrid and the 12ax7 single tube does add a touch of edge as it is cranked but the pedal is the same Engine and the edge is subtle and the Tube Screamer SIM sounds close. Any sound can be had and it records from the line out with very good definition. Most of the amp sims are very good with little tweaking and I think it has the most good amp Sims of any other multi fx unit. Has way more variables than the VT Plus amp series and it is one of my favorites for downright realistic amp sounds. Hard to believe it but, it stacks up well against the bigger floorboards in respect to tone alone. More controls on the bigger units sometimes can take you too far off base. It really is well designed and keeps you sounding good.

Some effects, such as reverb, tremelo, delay are fine, however, the box does not allow you to add OD or distortion unless you pick an amp modeling method. Example, my 57 Tweed Deluxe has incredible tone and I don't want to change that by "modeling" another amp. If you use something like say, a Zoom, you can add OD with the amp modeling off, so the OD signal goes straight to your amp w/o the modeling effect. Not possible in this unit. For distortion, OD and some other effects, the Stomplab requires that you pick an amp model for those to work. In my case, I'd be limited to the other effects. Those effects are good, but you are limited to them only unless you choose to color your amp's sound with modelling.

Comments about Vox StompLab IIG Modeling Guitar Effect Processor:

I've been playing guitar for 25 years. I own Les Pauls and Fenders, Marshall, Fender and Orange Amps. I've been playing in cover bands for 15 years. I love Pedals, particularly Boss, but I've owned Multi FX units in the past including a Digitech RP1000, The Boss ME-70 and units from DOD. I tell you all this so you know I'm not a basement player plinking chords all day. This pedal is the real deal. If you're looking for a compact, sweet sounding unit for playing at home or for jamming when you don't want to haul around the Tube Amp, buy this now. The sounds are every bit as good as the RP1000 and about 5 times better than the ME-70. And that's without tweaking. Editing is simple and to the point. I've already created a patch that sounds extremely close to my Marshall JMP 50. A-B'd it for an hour and presto, instant backup and jam machine with tones close enough to the real thing to make me smile. I also use it with my other pedals, including some overdrives and chorus and it takes them well. Real well. Good unit, easy to use.

expression pedal is a bad design. too small to accurately control parameters. just taking your foot off changes the parameter you already had a hard time getting to. if used on carpet the pedal is useless. push in the pedal and the whole unit tips forward, pull back and unit comes back. almost useless to get a particular place set for say, modulation speed. the reverbs do not sound good. the filters did sound good, but you cant control them properly with this stupid tiny expression pedal. body of the unit was solid, but the sides are plastic. guaranteed to break at some point. overall I would not recommend this to anyone. there are much better pedals out there.

it's a great unit if you use properly. yes, it's small but you should already know that so stop complaining about the small expression pedal. haha
the built-in "presets" are not great, don't use them. what you should really do is to program your own presets, and turn off the amp modulation for god's sake. i don't like digital overdrives too, they always sound bad, no matter what. bottom line, take some time to program your own presets(20 max) and use analog distortions.

Overall this unit produces some great sounds and is of a decent quality. However, a massive change in volume sometimes occurs when switching between preset effects. I bought this hoping to bring some Vox sounds onto the stage, so the volume issue is a major problem. I will be sending it back.

This is an EXCELLENT multi-effects pedal board. The presets are like any others, a little tweaking and they are improved. The WAH is GREAT! The chorus good, and most of all, I was able to dial into the Black Sabbath tone, from the early albums. It is a preset in the FUZZ section. You do not need the Sabra Cadabra pedal if you want to sound like Tony Iommi. The VOX does it too, and for nearly half the cost.

Comments about Vox StompLab IIG Modeling Guitar Effect Processor:

I recently started playing guitar again, this little dude is an absolute beast for the money. It is not for a touring professional, but it does just fine for little gigs, home recording, and getting used to a multi-effects board. The WAH is great. There are a few presets that kill it, yet, overall, like with any other beast of this nature, program your own settings.

After trying this pedal for 5 minutes i thought it sounded horrible. However after modifying the sounds to get the tones i wanted i changed my mind immediately. This is probably a better multi fx pedal if you want to use it with other pedals at the same time. This works well for live use and or studio/practice time. I like the digital delay, tremolo, reverb, low octave sounds. However for overdrive, fuzz, univibe/phaser i'd recommend analog pedals. The only thing i don't like is that it's hard to turn off and on while playing, this pedal is probably meant to be used by itself. However for the price and overall available effects this is still a worth while purchase. Make sure you watch a youtube video on how to use this before jumping to conclusions.

The unit works great, sounds great and the little wah/volume pedal is a hoot.
I did have an issue where it emitted a loud hum and squeal until I restarted it. It has only happened once.
I was running on battery at the time (not sure it matters, but it eliminates the possibility of a power supply problem). I unplugged the source and the sound continued from the unit. turn it off and back on and it was gone. hasn't happened since.

Comments about Vox StompLab IIG Modeling Guitar Effect Processor:

I have a background in electronic music using synthesizers and DJ/beat production gear, and Korg products are a part of my arsenal. Vox is owned by Korg so I was intrigued by the Stomplab multi-effects processor due to the similar analog interface and editing style to that of the MicroKorg.

The Stomplab has endless options for dialing in your tone. From delay, rotary, amp modelings, hall, reverb, overdrive control, wah pedal, and more. I'm a bit of a minimalist and did not want a huge pedal board to lug and set up each time I perform/play. Like a synthesizer, I wanted endless options and to be able to tweak my sound at my fingertips.

And this effects pedal does just that. A concern I had prior to purchasing was would this pedal sound digital/computerized? And to my ear it sounds nothing synthesized but a true guitar pedal with authentic guitar tones that you'd get from a floor board of multiple pedals.

The presets are usable but the real magic is in shaping your own tone that you can store for easy access in the user patches. I've played single coils, lipstick pickups, humbuckers and p90s through this and you can dial up a patch for the tone you desire. I play this through a Vox AV analog tube amp.

This is the only pedal that I use and I'm inspired to be able to dial in my tone the way I picture certain riffs or songs of mine sounding in my head. This pedal gives you the tools to try and capture the way you want to hear it sounding.

This is a great effects box for home recording. It sounds great with both humbucker and single coil guitars and a variety of amps, both tube and digital. This is the second one I've owned. The first was damaged in an accident. It is versatile and a joy just to sit and spend some time playing through,
