Comments about Quilter Labs TB201-HEAD Tone Block 201 200W Guitar Amp Head:

I have owned my TB 201 for about 4 months. I run a 2x12 cab with Eminence Patriot Red, White and Blues speakers. My pedal board is a Visual Sound Volume Pedal -> MXR 6 band EQ -> CMAT MODS Signa Compressor -> Amp 11 Drive -> Hall Of Fame Reverb -> into the front of the amp.

I am so happy with this amp. I bought this amp because at the time I could not afford a Twin Reverb and I needed something with some clean volume. I read reviews and watched YouTube and found this to be the most bang for the buck. Now I am thinking about buying another one for a back up and forgetting about getting a Twin. This is built solid and I doubt I will need a backup but I like to be prepared. I have ran it pretty hard for 4 months without any problems.

This is a solid state amp and it needs to be treated like one. I NEVER let my pedals boost the front end of the amp. I think that is crucial to getting the most out of this amp. The controls are really useful even though there are only a few. You get a wide range of tones. I use my pedals to dial it in the rest of the way. It takes pedals really well too.

I had questions and Pat Quilter got back to me quickly and was very helpful. I have owned SS amps and tube amps and I believe this is the best solid state amp I have played.

Comments about Quilter Labs TB201-HEAD Tone Block 201 200W Guitar Amp Head:

I had a show recently that was a four band bill and so we decided to share some gear. One of the other bands offered his amp with Quilter head? He said "It's solid state but trust me, it sounds as good as my Fender Showman" I was curious, so I kept my Dr. Z at home for this and gave it a run. Holy Smokes was a impressed. LOVED IT! HOW DOES A LITTLE 4 POUND HEAD SOUND THIS GOOD? I went online and bought one the next day. Lucky for me Musicians Friend had the 15% off sale going on, so i got an absolute STEAL on this amp! THANK YOU MUSICIANS FRIEND!! It arrived very fast and came with a super cool Quilter amp bag. The Tones on this thing (better having time to dial it in) are so amazing. Five amp sounds to start from, I don't believe it is any kind of modeling, they just found a way to make the TUBE sound without the tubes! I dial it in so that it sounds like an old Fender Blackface, monster tones and lots of sculpting power. My board already has reverb because my Dr. Z doesn't have reverb either so I am set there. It takes pedals super well. My Timmy Pedal makes it bite! I also have a UP pedal by Fromel that makes it even more beefy and tube sounding. I Like this better then my Z in that it has way more headroom when I break out my Les Paul or anything with a P90. My Z is perfect for my telecasters but there is not a lot of headroom when you use P90s. It's the Z28 and kinda like a deluxe reverb on mega steroids, killer tones but too beefy at times. This head is pure clean if you want it to be. Really as crisp as a batsman. The over drive is fantastic as well. Really cool when driven. I also have tried it with a little analog delay pedal and it sounds delightful. I am seriously thinking of letting go of all my tube amps now. My Hotrod and Dr. z as well as home made mega 100 watt tube amp based on a fender that breaks my back to carry around, they all sit now. Oh and about power, at 20 watts through a 2x12 it gets LOUD! Club loud! 100 watts is gonna be stadium loud!
