OVERVIEW

A single stompbox that eliminates the need for huge pedal boards and multi-effects pedals.

Zoom's MS-50G MultiStomp Guitar Pedal is the first of its kind. It offers the power of a multi-effects pedal and flexibility of an amp modeler in a single stompbox design. With 55 classic stompbox effects and amp models, easy-to-use interface, auto-chromatic tuner and versatile power options, guitar players will be astonished with how much this single stomp offers.

With the size and weight of a typical single stompbox, the MS-50G includes a thorough lineup of high-quality effects types. It features 47 stompbox effects and 8 amp models. Along with distortion, reverb, modulation and other classic effects, its amp models simulate some of the most prized pieces of live and studio gear.

The LCD shows the current effect in use, while the scrolling function allows you to easily view the flow of your effects chain. With this intuitive, easy-to-use interface, creating amazing sounds is a breeze.

The MS-50G allows you to utilize up to six effects simultaneously, as well as arrange them in any combination. This gives you the ability to craft classic sounds, as well as lush, complex tones. Leave the rules you learned behind and enjoy creative freedom with the MS-50G.

Add 55 effects to your pedal board
Cut down the size of your pedal board by adding in MS-50G to the mix. From a single pedal, you'll have 55 effects types waiting at your feet to be called-up no matter have often you need them.

Tweak your settings with ease
The MS-50G's front panel features three parameter knobs, which also function as buttons. These buttons can be used to open various menus, where you can then use the parameter knobs to tweak your effects settings to your liking. Remove and/or rearrange effect units, turn the AUTO-SAVE function ON and OFF, recall patches and more with ease and efficiency.

Realistic, high-quality audio design
The cutting-edge ZFX-IV DSP processor can execute sophisticated algorithms using 32-bit floating-point calculations. A sigmoid curve clipper helps create the smoothly clipped waveform characteristics of tubes, providing the most realistic modeling sounds and richest harmonic components to date.

Onboard auto-chromatic guitar tuner
Hold the footswitch down to activate the built-in chromatic tuner in an instant. Even on stage during a performance, all you need to do is move your foot to enable tuning. You can choose between a BYPASS mode that turns all the effects off and a MUTE mode that allows you to tune silently.

Tap the tempo using the footswitch
Use the Tap Tempo feature to set the tempo in real-time to the rhythm of a song as you play guitar. You can also use it to for delay times and modulation effect frequencies.
* The tuner cannot be used when the tap tempo function is active.

Program the order of your patches
With the MS-50G, you can program which patches are recalled and the order in which they appear. For example, you could select three patches-(?) CLEAN TONE, (B) HEAVY RIFF and (C) LEAD SOLO-so that you can cycle through them each time you press the footswitch. You can create and save up to 50 original tones in this way.

Presets that are available right-out-of-the box
The MS-50G includes 30 preset patches that can be used to get great guitar tones the moment you open the box. These patches offer a wide variety of guitar sounds that use famous stompbox/amp models and settings. You can use these.

Support for line recording
In addition to the 8 amp models from the G3 and G5, studio-level compressor and reverb effects are also built in to the MS-50G. The pedal's stereo output jacks allow you to use line connections for direct recording of its powerful guitar sounds.

Output modes for stage and studio
Different output modes for the amp modeling function allow you to optimize the MS-50G's tones based on how you connect it to your rig. In addition to having modes for the front inputs of combo and stack amps, the MS-50G can be used as a preamp when connected to a power amp input. You can also achieve realistic amp sounds optimal for recording by selecting the direct mode for line connections.

7 hours operation on batteries
Using two AA alkaline batteries, you can operate the MS-50G for up to 7 hours continuously. From rehearsal to the main stage, you can use the MS-50G with confidence. Power the pedal via AC adapter (sold separately) or USB bus, if you want to use it longer without worrying about battery life.

Stay up-to-date via USB
When connected to your computer and Zoom's website via USB, you can perform system firmware updates to keep the functions of your MS-50G on the cutting-edge.

As with most musicians, I ignored the manual and jumped right in. I've only had to consult the manual twice, but...the interface takes a bit of getting used to. Each knob/button is multi-purpose, and you have to step thru menus to get to certain features (ugh). OK...it's a trade-off for the amount of control you have.

First the bad: I use this for processing an Arturia Microbrute and have it mounted so that I control it entirely by hand. I can't honestly see how anyone could use this by just using their feet. The size and position of the knobs preclude such manipulation. Unless you have prehensile feet, that is.

Now the good: excellent sound quality, no strange digital buzzes or ticks (at line level), lots of good FX to pick from.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this to thicken or twist synth sounds. Just mount it where you can reach it with your hands.

it's a good pedal but it is too limited without an expression pedal, and it would be better with a footswitch for on and off the six pedals in every preset! it sound so good but to me that's the only problem on stage, its good! , i could make one footswitch like the ones on YouTube but i would be expensive, but that's my point of view

Comments about Zoom Multistomp MS50G Pedal:

I have 3 of these on separate pedal boards. The primary role in my setup is to provide EQ, reverb, delay, rotary speaker and tuner. So this pedal effectively replaces several others very economically.
The instructions say current draw is 500ma. I made a jig to test the current draw and it is 125ma. So, that is an important consideration when using with many pedal power supply units.

Comments about Zoom Multistomp MS50G Pedal:

Zoom has always been pretty good at squeezing a lot of power into a small space. This pedal is even better. There are tons of effects that are all super tweakable if you want to take the time. The access is very easy once you get used to which button does which (it's the same on every effect and I had it memorized within 15 minutes). Are the amp models and stomp boxes faithful recreations? No. Do they sound different enough to be useful. Absolutely. I was very happy that the amps and distortions had more than enough gain (you can always dial it back if you want). The modulation effects are very cool and you can put as many as 6 effects in a row at one time.

Comments about Zoom Multistomp MS50G Pedal:

I called Musician's Friend to inquire about a good effects unit that would simulate as many voices as possible and especially a Leslie Organ. I was directed to the Zoom MS-50G. I didn't think it was exactly what I wanted, but I would try it. As always, I was not disappointed with advice I get from MF. I have replaced 4 BOSS pedals and have all the effects I will ever need. I love the Roto Cab which gives a good Leslie sim. I couldn't ask for a better Chorus and Delay. I also replaced a Fender Deluxe pedal which I use when I play Hawaiian music. The only complaint is the manual. It is pretty worthless. You just have to dive in and use the pedal. It didn't take me long to figure it out. Once you get it set up it is easy to use. Thanks again Musician's Friend for your help.

              Needed a baritone.
              This did a great approximation.
              Needed a Jaguar.
              This did a great approximation.
Saved some buck$ right there just with that.

The above two for some surf/Italian movie type sounds.
Plenty of reverbs to choose from.
              Plenty of modulation effects too.

Really, this thing has so much going for it in such a compact and cost efficient package.

              Plenty of great delays.
              Plenty of great OD/distortion/fuzz.
              Plenty of compressors.

              Chock Full O' Stuff.
Good sounding stuff that gets the job done just fine.

MF shipped mine with the latest software, which I think is version 2.01.

I'm an old phartt so it is likely this will last me for the duration.

Technology marches on and ZOOM continues to be on the forefront when it comes to breaking edge.

Local music stores are really missing a bet by not carrying these.
They have inferior things that cost more.

This is a very nice pedal by Zoom,Made in China but who cares,Easy to use and just a couple of the preset effects are well worth the money itself!
Made of metal and seems to be very tough,Distortion sounds are right on and easily adjusted and saved.

For the money this may be the best in the market.

A very good addition to my analog stompboxes. I do my presets at home for the songs we need to play on our next gig. I need not to bring so many stompboxes as the presets have already catered for the effects I need. I highly recommend this to those who want to bring less pedals but want more great sound. Though I wish there were more amp models for this pedal.

Comments about Zoom Multistomp MS50G Pedal:

I could spend all day yapping about this pedal...In my travels i've tried countless pedals, but got tired of having 'too many' pedals. The weight, the time it took to hook it all up. I also busk, or play where electricity isn't available, and wanted a setup where i could make one trip with everything, and keep the weight down. I've always been a fan of ZOOM products, so trying out the Multistomp series was a no-brainer for me. The 50G met all my requirements, and exceed them all after i got one and started using it. Tones that are as good as any higher priced pedal, the versatility is second to none, and the price is killer for what this pedal can do. I would say the the Bluetooth version was my favorite, then the 70CDR, then the 50G, with the 50G's new 3.0 update, the 50 G is now my favorite pedal...period. The 50G started with maybe 50 patches, now it has 172, and best of all it has the Exciter patch, which to me is required on any pedal board. All i can suggest is watch the countless demo videos of this pedal. I would recommend this pedal for any level of guitarist, i would also recommend the MS-70CDR, watch the demo videos of the 70-CDR vs Strymons...amazing

I cant say enough good things about the 50G, i believe it's near the perfect all around pedal. The Multistomp series are easily, in my opinion, the best bang for the buck pedals made

Comments about Zoom Multistomp MS50G Pedal:

So it's finally happenend--a multi-effects unit as a pedal. Some might think such an idea is about as cool as a Chevy El Camino, but I really like it. There are plenty of distortions, compressions, 'verbs, etc. I'm not much into amp models, so I don't mind that there aren't many.

What I really like is that I can put this into my pedal chain and make it anything I want, reducing the number of pedals I have to use. It's a real chameleon, and most of the effects are beyond acceptable. Plus it has two outputs for bi-amping and stereo!!!!!

I still haven't figured out how to chain or save my pedal chains yet, but I've had this less than a week. It is a little hard to use like everyone's saying, and the instruction manual is tiny and not organized in a particularly user-friendly way. However, I'm sure I'll crack how to use this as more than a single-effect unit, but I will give that caveat to newbies. It will take you a little while to figure this out.

Comments about Zoom Multistomp MS50G Pedal:

Zoom products are underrated. This unit, the MS-50g s sound quality is studio quality! The effects are transparent; they lay on top of your guitar/amp sound. For digital it sounds warm and organic even. It has changed my effects chain big time. I incorporate several new sounds with this added to my rig. However, the instruction manual is insufficient to say the least. It took a month to "break the code" and understand how to program it. It has revolutionized my sound. A winner for sure.

Comments about Zoom Multistomp MS50G Pedal:

I bought this pedal because one of my bandmates bought one. Sounded really good. After a while my friends stomp button kept breaking. We thought that it was just the way he stomped on the pedal. Mines just broke. It's not more than 2 months old. ughhh.. If you buy this pedal buy the extra warranty.

This thing is amazing. There are more effects in this one stompbox than your entire music shop has in stock, and they're all great. You can create a digital pedalboard with up to 6 effects, back-to-back. This is the best valued pedal on the market, period. If you're looking to spice up your sonic arsenal, don't hesitate. Just be prepared to flip through the instruction manual about a dozen times.

musicians friend rocks! This is an excellent pedal if youre willing to take the time to figure it all out,it's the best sounding pedal out there, with studio quality effects, stereo out's and every effect you could possibly need, this thing is built like a tank ,but it has a learning curve,it does take a minute to figure it out, then shape your sound,it's built for the people who want have complete control over every aspect of their tone,so just be ready to spend some time with it,but once you do you wont be sorry!

If you wish something added to your pedal board, this is it!! Make it anything you want. The best sound quality I've heard. The most transparent effects I've heard. It's very rich sounding. But the second most difficult to use I've ever had. (if you want it's more complicated setup.) If in single mode, pretty easy. I'm very happy and impressed with this effects pedal.

Comments about Zoom Multistomp MS50G Pedal:

Just received the Zoom MS-50G MultiStomp and here's a first impression. I like it, because it sounds good and is compact. The preload effects are easy to adjust and useable. This may not be a boutique pedal, but each effect seems to capture the style of what it is emulating. It does take time to scroll though to the desired effect and put in the chain. Also, because it's one button to engage, it is cumbersome to edit the various effects in and out. I would think that from a performance standpoint, this pedal would not be "stand alone" due to having to change effects for a particular song. For me, it's good for my amateur recordings to have one pedal having multiple effects in one compact unit (especially, when floor space is limited). Also, I don't need to turn off and on certain effects "on the fly". I like the factory has firmware updates that will keep improving this unit while adding effects as they are developed. It fun to check out the various effects. A great "tool box" of sounds to experiment with, which is something I haven't done in many years. Thanks to MF for great sales and service.

Comments about Zoom Multistomp MS50G Pedal:

Fantastic little box with a boatload of available effects! I got it to cover some one and done effects that were taking up room on my board as dedicated boxes. Serves as a nice tuner, and the on-board amp emulation is a great bonus to go direct in a pinch.
My only regret is that I wish it was true by-pass. That is the only reason for a 4x*, I a/b'd with a true by-pass switcher and could hear a small affect to the by-passed sound.
Otherwise, a ton of usable effects that can be routed and combined easily, up to 6 effects in a patch. But, you may want to make all your patches with "LineSel" first in your chain so that you can turn on/off "all" the effects in the patch at the same time ;) .
Its not going to render the "big guys" obsolete, but "for the money" it is hard to beat!
