Comments about Dean Hillsboro Single Electric Bass Guitar:
Are you kidding me? The two Hillsboro models I owned came to me looking like they had been beaten with bats. Chips and chunks (no, really) taken out of the neck, and horrible paint jobs. I returned the first one thinking it was just a lemon but when the second one arrived it was no different, only this time it didn't even work. I checked the battery and everything, the problem was in the quality of these instruments. It isn't even 3 band EQ. Not that it bothers me a lot, but it's advertised as 3 band. Don't be fooled it's only 2. Dean guitars just don't have great quality control. I've had entry level Squires that were more fit to play than these. No wonder Zelinsky left. Musiciansfriend, however, was very helpful with replacing the Dean with something actually worth owning. Thanks.
Comments about Dean Hillsboro Single Electric Bass Guitar:
i was looking for a backup bass for my musicman and this actually replaced it for me. i got mine on ebay for $185 AS A B-STOCK and other than a few nicks on the back of the headstock, it's flawless. the active tone tone control really gives you control over your sound. it's very much like a cross between a musicman and p-bass but for a fraction of the price
Pros
- Good Feel
- Good Tone
Cons
- Looks Very Entry Level

Comments about Dean Hillsboro Single Electric Bass Guitar:
Just got it - was looking for a back up bass and found it in a pawn shop. Was pleasantly surprised by the clean sound and ability to adjust with the EQ. It is only a two band EQ but still gives you alot of latitiude. At the end of the day and even though it looks and sounds good - it is clearly an entry level instrument and won't be mistaken for an up scale guitar, but for the price it is a winner! Not sure how it would take the beating of regular gigs but I plan to find out. For the price - it's a winner!

Comments about Dean Hillsboro Single Electric Bass Guitar:
the pick up had too much audible hiss(not ground buzz ,a hissss like a snake), nut was not glued in. other than that, great sound, great feel on neck. if i were to do it all again .this as a starter bass would keep someone enthused and excited to play.no denying this is a good bass.Deans customer service is great I already contacted them to see if theres a way to minimize the hiss.no details yet.

Comments about Dean Hillsboro Single Electric Bass Guitar:
as of this writing I am waiting for another from MF.the one I had was used so its trouble could be attributed to someone beating it. with that said certain things stand out no matter what. the neck is one of the most comfortable I have played, its like a small baseball bat.and it does not widen considerably as the neck goes to the body.it is a SLAP MONSTER!it growls with the best of them, the pick up does have a hiss, but although its only a two band eq its dialed in quite well. the hardware is cheap but any of it can be replaced. it definitly has its own charm. if your looking for a cross between a rick a musicman and a jazz bass, this pretty much nails it. the fret job is not the best but it is not far off, would require a bit of fine tuning. stays in tune is comfortable for small or degenerating hands and SOUNDS GREAT! as usual with chinese stuff its a hit or miss, sometimes you get a good one some times you dont. its worth a test drive, you might be pleasantly surprised!!!!
