Great bass. A bit neck heavy but no enough to effect playing.

Comments about Fender California Series Kingman SCE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I play this bass as an alternate to my Peavey electric bass when playing with a smaller, 'un-plugged' type group. It plays very well with a great fretboard feel and action. The supplied Fender strings are very twangy; it could benefit from some dedicated acoustic-type strings. The biggest 'con' is that it has very weak acoustic projection. I bought this hoping it would have better projection than my Dean Playmate 5-string acoustic bass, but if anything it's slightly weaker. On the positive side, the build-quality is outstanding; I can't find a flaw anywhere on this bass... from the seam-work to the finish to the hardware.... it's perfect.
