OVERVIEW

A blend of poplar burl and mahogany make this bass eye catching and a great choice for a working bassist.

For 25 years the SR805 has given bass players a modern alternative. With its continued popularity, Ibanez is constantly endeavoring to answer the wider needs of a variety of players, at a variety of budgets. But no matter what the specs, the heart is the same-SR continues to excite with its smooth, fast neck, lightweight body, and perfectly matched electronics.

The neck tongue not only creates a unique look, it also makes utilizing the higher frets easier and coupling Jatoba with Bubinga has made it strong and stable despite its thinness.

The MK1 pickups are split coil designs that provide a very wide frequency range and enhanced definition for maximum accuracy. The Neck and Bridge pickups have equal response, like traditional single coils, but without the hum and noise.

Case sold separately.

Comments about Ibanez SR805 5-String Electric Bass:

I've been playing bass for 25 years, and I've never been happier with any bass I've owned. These basses are everything you could possibly want. Georgeous to look at, amazing range of tonality, tonal clarity, thin and light body, excellent bridge and tuners and a super comfortable and fast neck. It comes set up and ready to play right out of the box. All you have to do is tune it and you're ready to go. The best thing about these basses is how comfortable they are to play. You can play for hours on end and your hand doesn't get fatigued. I have other 5-string basses that will cause fatigue in your fretting hand after a while, but not this one. You can likely attribute that to the thin, comfortable neck and smaller frets. Also, because of the burl tops, each one is visually unique, which makes them extra special.

Comments about Ibanez SR805 5-String Electric Bass:

I have 4 Basses now, and this is by far the best i have bought in a long time. The sound is exactly what i was looking for, and the versatility is very good. The mid range switch allows for some unique sounds and lets the player quickly adjust from a Jazz tone to a P-Bass tone on the fly. Though it has passive Bartolini pickups, the active electronics make up for it. Each knob has a detent at center. The cable jack has a unique "hitch" to it which helps to lock the cable in place, reducing an accidental pull out from stepping on it. My only negative comment is that it did not come with a user manual. I had to hit the website to find out the electronics specifics. Sounds a s good as basses 3x the cost.

Comments about Ibanez SR805 5-String Electric Bass:

Like the title says, I googled this exact bass because it was hard to find normally just to write a review. Straight out of the box this bass wowed me with how beautiful it was. I've played bass for about 12 years and I have grown quite a love for Bubinga wood but also know it comes with some weight, so when I picked up this bass with little to no ease, my eyes bugged out.

First impressions before tuning it on playability was unreal. The natural acoustics unplugged alone sounded great and I felt like I had a weapon on power in my hand despite it's lighter weight. After obsessing and tuning it up, I realized this bass was shipped intonated. No stringed instrument will ever ship in tune, which is fine, but I never expected it to be intonated correctly. I didn't even need to adjust the bridge. The string height was perfect. No fret buzz, solid and defined notes and a perfect string spacing for fast finger runs, but also clean slapping abilities.

This bass will hum quietly in the pocket, pop loudly in the front of the mix, and bring the thunder of low end in a low detuned setting. Ibanez seriously outdid themselves with this bass. As a musician, you are doing yourself a disservice for not getting this.
