This DVD is good for a beginner, however it does move a little fast when learning the chords. You need to rewind it a few times so you can get your finger placing right on some of the triads, because Wyatt doesn't give you a lot of time for positioning. Otherwise, it is very useful for anyone who wants to learn how to play the electic guitar.

This DVD is absolutely terrible. I have played guitar for approximately one year and do pretty well on an acoustic. My wife bought me a Fender Fat Strat for Christmas so I bought this DVD. It is very hard to follow, jumps around a lot and while he is playing it does not show the fingering of the chords. Keith Wyatt is all over the fretboard playing with alternate fingering no one even uses. Give me a break!!!! I feel like getting rid of my Strat after watching this DVD. It is aggravating. DO NOT BUY THIS DVD unless you just like to watch someone play stupid no name tunes. He doesn't have one song on the DVD that is recognizable. I have bought other instructional DVD's for cheaper that were a whole lot better. This one SUCKS!!

Very Good Instructional Video

Comments about Fender Getting Started On Electric Guitar DVD:

I just recently purchased this dvd a couple weeks ago and also bought my first electric recently. I had been trying to teach myself with an acoustic and then finally with the new electric so had a little knowledge before and would recommend spending a little time on your own first but it is not really necessary. This a great dvd. Wyatt breaks down many techniques and styles of playing and lets you learn to build your own pace in an extremely uncomplicated way. Numerous extras thrown in too that are nice for beginners. Excellent video and great buy. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed!

This DVD Got Me Started

Comments about Fender Getting Started On Electric Guitar DVD:

I bought this DVD last year-and it taught me a lot. In only minutes, I was playing three or four chords and making simple songs from them. The lessons do tend to jump around somewhat, but if you take your time and learn the lessons in order, you will be playing in no time. I especially liked the tour of the Fender plant in Corona,Ca. Keith Wyatt also shows how to take care of your guitar and change the strings properly.Another interesting part is where he demonstrates distortion and a few pedal effects. Overall, I think this is a great DVD to start guitar with. There are a lot of different pages and chapters to explore at your own pace, without a teacher breathing down your neck. The practice tracks are really effective for learning the different chords and how to put them together. Highly recommended.

for beginners??????

Comments about Fender Getting Started On Electric Guitar DVD:

This dvd doesn't seem to be for beginners. The teacher talks to you like you already have knowledge of music which makes it difficult to understand. I have been playing a year now and have used the rockhouse method dvds which by far are better for learning starting with no knowledge of guitar. Rockhouse method DVDs are a better buy in my opinion.

This is a great jump-start

Comments about Fender Getting Started On Electric Guitar DVD:

This DVD is a really great guide on how to get started and where to start on the electric guitar. The only thing I would suggest is that you have a little common knowledge of the guitar before you use it...it helps. In my experience, this is a VERY good way to get started on your electric guitar.

Comments about Fender Getting Started On Electric Guitar DVD:

This DVD is a great way to start learning how to play the electric guitar. It is presented in a clear and understandable format. Even though I never played guitar before seeing this video, I am now hooked on it. If you still don't know how to play after seeing this video, then maybe you should take up playing the triangle.

Comments about Fender Getting Started On Electric Guitar DVD:

Yes, I was yelling. If you want to play electric guitar, buy this DVD. I can't say it enough. I have been trying to learn electric guitar since I was 12, gave up then, tried at 25, gave up again. Now I'm 40 and I know I'll learn because of this DVD. I have many DVDs, instruction books etc, and this is the best. I actually saw Keith in concert with his band The Blasters this past January. Guess what? He plays the exact way he plays on the DVD, nothing more, nothing less. He also uses just 3 pedals in person. That means if you learn eveything on this DVD, you would actually be able to play professionally.

This video covers a lot and fills in the holes that learning by yourself leaves. It contains nice bite size lessons that you can practice at your own pace.

Comments about Fender Getting Started On Electric Guitar DVD:

I wanted to learn to play guitar, but I didn't have the money or time to take lessons, I saw this and since Fender is a trustworthy name i figured I'd give it a try. I was amazed at how simple Keith Wyatt makes learning to play seem, and it also great that all the lessons are short so that you aren't hit with too much at one time. So if you want to learn to play but are in the same boat as me, buy this DVD, you won't regret it!

Comments about Fender Getting Started On Electric Guitar DVD:

I have been trying to learn guitar on and off since I was 12 (I'm now 40). I have around 10 how-to books and 10 how-to videos and have looked at many others, and this is the best thing I have found. This has everything a beginner to intermediate player could use. The best part is it's easy to understand, try to pick up a guitar magazine or book and see their explanation of scales and you'll see what I mean. For a DVD thats 3Hr and 22min, this is easily worth double of what you'll pay for it.

Comments about Fender Getting Started On Electric Guitar DVD:

Excellent for the beginner. I am taking lessons from a teacher and found this DVD, it helped me to understand more about the cords, scales, and movable cords. The Rhythm and Solo lessons are great, now I know how to bend the strings to the right pitch and the Legato method. It has some cord theory and helps you to make sense of what you're doing.

Comments about Fender Getting Started On Electric Guitar DVD:

I learned a lot becasue of this DVD. I think it is better than lesson (cheaper anyway). I think it is hard to find a really good guitar teacher, most of the ones I have herd about just showed off their guitars and how good they play. And the "teacher" DVD can be played back. The practice tracks are also a very nice addition, I espeacially liked the "play electric" section. The rythem/solos were broke down really well. I say by this DVD, it starts you out on the right foot to play the electric guitar.

Comments about Fender Getting Started On Electric Guitar DVD:

Well, this video has Keith Wyatt being your personal teacher teaching chords, penatonic minor and major scales, different rhythm and solo riffs for country, rock and blues. Very expansive cd menu. Good practice screen, goes continually for you to practice without break. Nice touch of how a guitar is made at Fender's Corona factory. The ONLY reason I didn't give perfect 10 was the tab section isn't note for note accurate to the fretboard display to try to figure out the riffs.

Comments about Fender Getting Started On Electric Guitar DVD:

I really did not intend to write a review, but when I went to buy this DVD the only user review showing rated it 1 in every box. My experience was much better. I have been playing for a while, and have had lessons from a very good teacher, but the value of a good DVD is much more than you get from even the best lessons. The DVD has a road map that you need to look at a few times to make sense of what you have, but many of the lessons can be practiced with included practice tracks that repea until you get tired or learn how to follow it along. There are 50 short lessons on the DVD,so it can seem like it jumps around a bit, but the layout means you can look at the map and locate a secction you liked. One reviewer complained about Keith Wyatt's fingering but that is so much bs, people's hand shapes vary a lot, and what works for someone may be impossible for another, also I use different shapes (as a lot of people do) depending on what comes next, or if I want it to "ring". Some shapes are fast and dirty. This is a great value in a DVD.
