The King 4B Legend Series Trombone offers a classic large bore symphonic trombone design. The 4B features a .547-inch bore for a very free-blowing, open feel plus an 8-5/8-inch bell with a quick response and broad sound. The design of the 4B allows the player to push the boundaries without the worry of breaking up the tone.
There is a lot about the King trombones that is legendary. With the 4B, it is the dynamic range that often tops the list of frequently mentioned attributes. It is broad and full in terms of timbre, and your forte sections have never sounded so robust. It is as quick and agile as it is broad and powerful, and has established itself as one of the truly great symphonic trombones.

Comments about King 4B Legend Series Trombone:
I received my 4B in autumn '17 and have played it probably every other day since then. It was made in the Eastlake, OH plant and is overall very good quality for a reasonable price. Although they seem a bit of a less common option these days, I like the large bore straight horns for their robust, heavy-duty tone, and this 4B can really be cranked up in volume without losing control and sounding ratty. The bell is overall fairly heavy but seems very durable. The slide is no lightweight either and was slightly scratchy on arrival (i.e., not quite up to Yamaha standards), but with a quick cleaning every few days and fresh lube it's been getting smoother and does not resist in any positions. The finish is excellent, and the yellow brass parts and nickel slide tubes look very handsome alongside the gold (almost red) brass bell, especially with its fancy engraving work. The machined King counterweight is lovely, but could probably be a few ounces bigger to accommodate the slight front-heavy feel of the slide. The horn came with a Marcellus mouhpiece and as far as I can tell it feels like a Bach 5G size; quite appropriate. The wood/vinyl case is also quite heavy but seems very strong. I will get a lot of use out of my new King in church and community band groups and I expect it to last a lifetime. It's a pleasure to play, and well made in the USA!
