A Compressor is one of those pieces of studio equipment that absolutely essential. It can be used in numerous different scenarios to fix and enhance your recordings: Got a singer that sings louder on the chorus but doesn't have the mic technique to maintain a consistent volume? Use a compressor to reduce the volume of the peaks. Have a drum mix that lacks punch and clarity? Compress it. The guitar player wants to get some long, sustained notes out of his cheap guitar with less than fresh strings? Compress him. Mastering a recording for vinyl but are not sure whether the bass will cause the record to skip when the vinyl is pressed? Run the mix through some light compression to keep a reign on the low end. Have a particularly sibilant singer? Compress the upper frequencies via a side-chain so the "esss" sounds are not so prominent in the mix. The applications are endless. At Musicians Friend we have compressors from the top brands including Universal Audio Compressors & Limiters and dbx Compressors & Limiters. As with everything we sell, all our Compressors & Limiters are supported by our price & satisfaction guarantees and free standard shipping applies to all orders except heavy items.
