Professional quality fully analog drum machine.

With the vast majority of the past few decades' drum machine designs largely being emulations of the great machines that have gone before, Arturia’s introduction of a fully analog hardware drum machine with organic, integral sound creation is a major event.

The DrumBrute is firmly rooted in the classic drum machines, but it builds upon these traditions in terms of superior audio specifications and lower noise floor than the rhythm composers that paved the way. It also features far greater versatility in sound generation and programming options than the classic machines ever had. The DrumBrute offers seventeen true analog sounds, unique performance effects, a modern step sequencer, tremendous ease of use and state-of-the-art connectivity. It bridges the old world with the new, and leaves a wide-open palette of parameter-level sound creation, programming and synchronization options.

The sound of DrumBrute is based on the best classic analog drum machines. Sound profiles were created from the past but then the circuits were designed to build up DrumBrute’s own much-beloved and well established sound signature. Individual tones include two styles of kick drums, a wide-ranging snare and clap setting, two hi hats with tone and separate decay times, reverse cymbal, zap and more.

DrumBrute is designed to give musicians the same great hands-on experience they get from other award-winning Brute instruments. If you are already familiar with the Brute-style interface niceties, you will slide into using this drum machine with the greatest ease. If not, prepare yourself for a workflow of unprecedented efficiency and utility. All sound parameters can be changed instantly and set with the intuitive interface. Whether ir not you already know Arturia products, DrumBrute is easy to use right out of the box.

DrumBrute is not only about creating a beat: it’s also about tweaking it and making it evolve in real time. DrumBrute adds loads of innovative features like Step Repeat, Pattern Looper, Mute/Solo groups and song mode, along with Randomness and Swing functions per track. Finger drummers will love the ability to play quantized or semi-quantized on ultra sensitive pads.

DrumBrute is the only analog drum machine in its price category to offer as much as 12 separate audio outputs. And apart from its detailed audio connectivity, it is practically universal when it comes to syncing with your existing system. It will basically sync with any set up: Eurorack, vintage Roland gear, Korg Volca, popular DAWs, MIDI devices, et cetera.

Comments about Arturia DrumBrute Analog Drum Machine:

Arturia's DrumBrute stuffs a ton of features into a fairly compact, light-weight, and downright pretty package. The kick and snare sounds are surprisingly flexible, allowing a variety of tones - from vintage hip-hop to searing industrial strength. But wait... did I say "kick"? I meant "kicks". The DrumBrute has TWO kick drums, allowing for even more flexible programming. Nothing is more fun than driving a song with a nice, tight kick, but accenting the beat with another kick with its decay wide open, rumbling your neighbor's house with absolutely irreverence. It would be nice if the hats allowed as much versatility as the kicks and snare, but alas you are stuck with a vintage-sounding clang. Still, the clanging hats come in two varieties, as well - open and closed - with either one having its own decay adjust setting. One feature that really sold the DrumBrute to me is the fact that each instrument has its own output. I run mine with a cable going from each output, into a line mixer, allowing me the ability to record each instrument on its own track, in my DAW. Talk about control! Great sounds, great features, and not too difficult of a learning curve make the Arturia DrumBrute one of the nicest brutes I have ever met.

Comments about Arturia DrumBrute Analog Drum Machine:

I wanted to like this, really. I have almost every Roland drum machine there is, and love them all.
This is a very weak imitation.
First: Connections. Why they decided to use 1/8" connectors for the separate outputs is beyond me. They make no sense. I had to go buy new cables to hook it up.
Second: Sound. The sounds are pale imitations of other sounds, without the punch and character they need. For instance, the Kicks are so lame, they can barely be called kicks. They have no low end sound. They sound more like "low toms".
Third: The "Tuning" knobs hardly do anything on some drums, while being too wild on others.
Programming is fare. But again, they decided to use non-standard work flow for many of the functions.
The construction is good, sturdy, with nice metal and wood end panels. But that just makes it a good looking paper weight.
        This doggy's going home.
