I have not been more satisfied with a product in a long time. I got it out of the box, plugged it in and mixed an mp3 player into it with the device strapped to an old drum stool. Not very impressive. Then I moved it onto my drum rig. It didn't take much tweaking...just went from headphone splitter to line in. I don't know if it is the acoustic reflection from my drum riser or what but this thing absolutely brings the house down! Roland vdrum owners, this is a must have. I put this on about 50% volume and threw headphones on. Unreal...electronic drums come to life! It gives you that "arena" feel that is hard to describe, kind of like a sucker punch to the gut that you enjoy. My only complaint is the instructions, a little vague. But if you know youre way around audio gear in general, you'll have no problem. Just start at low volume and work your way up. You'll want to keep the volume knob within reach of your drum stool, in case a bass intensive song is sitting in your ipod mix in between four soft jazz tunes. BTW, these things are going for twice this price on ebay and most electronics stores. I can honestly say that this device makes my electronic rig more fun then when I first got it.I don't know how this device would work with a home theatre or xbox, I would imagine fairly well.

I bought this unit in hopes of putting on my heads phones and rocking out in my office without bothering anyone else in the house. It woke up my wife on the other side of the house and put a loud hum in the heads phones. It came with a ground loop isolator, but that didn't help at all. I am disappointed because I will not be able to record with this because the hum will end up on the recording. With that said, I am impressed with how it feels. If I was in a practice session with in-ear monitors I would love this thing but the advertisement of playing games in your dorm room with headphones, implying that you will not bother anyone is bogus.

Cant believe this...

Seriously, this thing works great. I've been using mine for a few days on my electronic drum kit at home and it is awesome. It works just like it is supposed to, and the settings on the amp let you dial it in to work great! I might just have to order another one for my acoustics!

I'm Addicted

By Dudeken

from Detroit

In-Ear user for years and always wanted this price prohibited luxury. I thought 100 watts would not be strong enough, I was wrong. I'm running it at 50%. I mounted shaker to bottom of seat with 3-3" screws. I can now feel my kick drum and don't want to play without it. The only bad thing is that this is another thing to set-up and tear-down. I run the kick drum mic to a mini-mixer that splits signal to butt-kicker and FOH PA,(you have to convert mic signal to a line level signal) this also gives me a volume knob if I need to turn up vibration. Now my 18" jazz kick is no different than my 22" kick. At this price I'm getting a second one for back-up/rehearsals.

Had problems

By E2 of BRK

from Southern NJ

Purchased unit in 12/07 and used it for 6 months and was VERY happy until the amplifier burned up. ButtKicker DOES NOT recomend this for drumming applications, more for game playing. They did warranty replace it however they do offer a larger unit (recomended by them) for constant duty or drumming use.

Every Drummer Needs This Device!!!

Just got my Buttkicker Gamer last week, and I'll never be without one again. I had tried the Concert Shaker years ago, but was a little put off by the expense & myriad of cables, amp, etc. After playing for 27 years in every conceivable situation from outdoor arena to studio, I never knew what I was missing. It simulates the feeling you get when playing thru a massive PA with huge bass bins. It really allows you to groove easily, no matter the volume. I tested it with my home practice kit (Roland V-Pro kit), and it transformed my V-Drums into a whole new experience. Gotta get a new trigger for my acoustic bass drum now! Max bang-for-the-buck!

Great features but not very durable

By Rooddoggie

I bought this for the V drums that we play in church and it worked great for about a month. Then the amp began clicking, sending a signal to the throne every second and wouldn't pick up the input signals. Now it won't do anything. It is powerful and effective, yet loud and is prone to a hum that makes your butt feel like it's being massaged. If you really want true bass/kick feedback step up to the next model of the Buttkicker. There's a reason that the Gamer model is priced so low. This model just won't hold up.

I bought a buttkicker Jr!

By Funky Nate

See all my reviews

I recieved my buttkicker jr recently and I love it. I am using it on my drum throne (acoustic kit) and it really works good. I thought at first maybe it would not give enough punch, but it does. It really works well for using in ear monitors or head phones. I had to run it through my pro tools rig and put a gate on the output channel for the unit so it didnt pick up vibrations from my floor toms. If you dont gate it, it will also vibrate for too long. I just wanted a quick punch and I got it working just right. It is also sensitive. It will pick up the doubles you do on your kick and will also give a light punch if you are playing quiet and a hard punch if you are playing hard! If you like the feel of a Sub sitting next to you on stage, you will also like this. I actually like it better than a sub. The important thing with this kicker is having the right equipment to get it to work the way you want.

I'm so glad I bought this!

This is made for an office chair, but I altered a leg of a forty five dollar couch we bought for the dorm room, and clamped the little guy on. It is now my favorite couch of all time and everyone that visits loves it. I have the buttkicker hooked up to my subwoofer output on my home thatre reciever to compliment the sub (which I have to keep on low volume in the dorm. The tiny buttkicker has enough power to really get the whole couch shaking. It is very articulate, and when listening to music you feel every low frequency nuance you could hear with a subwoofer. Love it for movies, music, and videogames too, i want to get the floor mat set up now to use as a bass guitar monitor. I can't judge its value for monitoring drums, but its a great home theatre choice, that's for sure (though maybe non-poor-college-students should buy the ones actually made for home theatre. you can't really fine tune the included amp very well, and $100 is a bit much if you're just gonna use it for an office chair as intended, unless you're a hard core videogame guy. Best home entertainment investment I have ever made!

Adds a new deminsion to racing games.

By Gek

from Midland, TX

So far I have only tried it with Richard Burns Rally and GTR2 but already I am love with the buttkicker. If you already have a good true force feedback wheel but you want to feel engine revs, collisions and rumble walls in the seat of your pants then you need this device. In RBR especially I feel much more confident as I can feel the tires lose and gain grip while powering around a corner.

Get one, you will like it

By rags-dxmiU

Just what other drummer say - it really helps your kick drummimg. I always overplayed my kick as I could not "hear" it when practicing loud and especially with other amplified players, but now I "feel" all of my strokes on the kick drum. I now play more relaxed and no tight muscles going from my leg up to my back.It really is like playing at your favorite venue where they have your kick drum blasting through sub woofers. On the other side of it: the general construction is rather cheap and the amp is pretty big and cumbersome, and the fan gives pretty loud buzz. But for the price point they make it is ALL good. Cheap enough to try and you can upgrade to another model. Even great to listen to music with...
