Awesome little drum, better than some bigger ones!

By Michaelah

Comments about LPM198 Mini Tunable Wood Conga:

Hi all, I have five drums at the moment. I have one large conga, my mini conga, a djembe, another hand drum that is kind of a "mutt", and a doumbek. This little drum sounds better than some of my larger ones, seriously. It is *very* small BUT you won't believe the sound that comes out! Not only does it look great but it sounds great too, definitely worth the money, and I think LP has made an awesome mini conga with this. It is a perfect small replica of their large conga; same polished look, same melodious tones. I was very impressed with this (as I have been with all their products!). This is perfect for a "walking drum", one to take with you wherever you go. For us girls, we can even stick it in a tote bag if we want! Anyway, I highly recommend this drum to anyone looking for a compact, quality drum, at a compact price! :) Michaelah

Comments about LPM198 Mini Tunable Wood Conga:

I am a guitarist, not a drummer. This instrument is perfect for jam sessions when you want something a little different or for throwing in on an acoustic set. It tunes well, and sounds great. I think its a little expensive but if you catch a sale it is well worth the money.

Comments about LPM198 Mini Tunable Wood Conga:

This is a great little drum. It is built a lot better than I thought it would be. It is alot of drum in a little drum. The sound is great for it's size. I recommend it if space is a problem and you want a conga drum sound. A fun product.

Comments about LPM198 Mini Tunable Wood Conga:

LPM198 Mini Tunable Wood Conga - I bought three of these last year and was pleasantly surprised that these mini conga are well made, look great, and sound pretty good for a drum of it's size. They get a lot of use in my primary-age classes.

Comments about LPM198 Mini Tunable Wood Conga:

I can't see using this toy for anything but a shelf decoration piece. It is well made but the head is so small that it is not easy to get any tone at all from it unless you use a stick. It is not even good enough to jam around on for fun.

High Gloss Finish makes it look fantastic but it slips out constantly from between your legs or lap. Even though it is small a stand will be needed if you play it on a regular basis. Lap stand?

Comments about LPM198 Mini Tunable Wood Conga:

This mini conga is the real deal. I was very surprised at the various tones I was able to get out of it despite it's small size. Nice to have something to accompany my guitar playing on my demo recordings. Btw, it records surprisingly well if you're willing to take the time and experiment with mike placement. It is somewhat difficult at times to keep from moving around whilst slapping it vigorously, I recommend putting some old books underneath it to steady it... which is what I did... or a piece of scrap carpeting perhaps. This is really the only con I have with this mini conga, which makes it ever so slightly less useful then LP's superb mini bongo set (which I also purchased).
