The Black Panther Design Lab Cherry Bomb kit produces a very unique sound for modern drums. Using all-cherrywood 1 mm plies, the Cherry Bomb’s focus is unmatched. High toms descend in 1/2" depths to retain their drive and punch while producing an incredible Vintage tone with the body of modern drums! The Cherry Bomb kit is a hybrid of the classic sounds of beloved vintage drums combined with modern hardware and cutting-edge technology.
It seems simple but represents a unique approach to instrument design among drum manufacturers. Most drums have been constructed based on tradition and appearance, with some attention to the resulting sound through trial and error. Now, Mapex has reversed the process, utilizing the “Concept Hybrid” formula to start with the desired sound in mind. Leveraging their 30 years of drum making experience, the DESIGN LAB was created to develop the innovations required to bring these sonic concepts to life.
