I just ordered this kit in the tobacco fade finish and the first thing I noticed when I got the kit is that photos on the internet do it no justice at all. The finish is absolutely gorgeous and compares very nicely to a custom DW finish. Not only that but the sound mimics a DW set almost flawlessly. The toms are very easy to tune due to the warm tones coming from the all-maple shells. The tom mounts on the new PDP kits now mimic the design of the DW tom mounts optomizing tom spacing and placement. The pillow that comes with the kit is small enough that it will only muffle the batter head and allows the resonant head to ring with a slight bit of overtone making the kick drum reall punch to the chest, and it sounds awesome. The 800 series hardware is heavy and extremely durable and rather inexpensive. I only wish the boom arms were a tad bit longer as they are about half the length of the boom arms on the Tama Roadpro stands. 14" toms don't really tune as low as I'd like so I plan on expanding the kit later on. All in all, this is a gorgeous looking, fantastic playing drum kit that will play right up with top-end kits at only a fraction of the cost. I highly recommend this kit to the drummer on a budget that is not willing to sacrifice quality.

I'll start out by saying that I've played Tama for years, so maybe that biases me, but this just was not the greatest kit. I've tried changing heads, used all kinds of brands (Evans, Remos, and even Aquarians)and could not get the lively resonance that maple is supposed to provide. On top of that, the tom mounts make miking very inconvenient. I haven't found a single rim mount that can do the job without putting the mic right in my strike zone or placing it at such an awkward angle that picking up quality sound was nearly impossible. My advice: find a used Tama Rockstar. That's what I use now and its probably one of the best kits I've played. If you're looking for a practice kit, this MIGHT be for you, but as far as actual gigs go, forget it.

Amazing set

I got this drumset (in an awesome green color)in May. Compared to my previous Pearl Export set, the Pacific is the best. It has an awesome sound, and is pretty easy to tune (all exept the middle tom...or maybe its just me). I've done some gigs with it, and it was amazing. I would definitely recommend this set for any musician.

Great drums for anyone on a budget

I've had this kit for a year now and they haven't dissapointed me yet. I replaced the stock heads immediately and can't use the snare, opting for a DW instead. The sound quality is amazing and for what I paid, I feel like i've stolen these from someone. For anyone who wants great sound for less bucks, this is the kit. And with the dough you save, purchase the PDP rack. Another great item from a decent drum manufactuer.

i love it. Buy new heads and some good cymbals and this set is bad "butt". Sounds good live and recorded. snare sounds really good w/ remo CS head. The set is just an awesome deal. Its basically a DW collecters set. Definatly recomend this to any player. Any experience, this is about as good as they come

awesome set

I got this set in August, 2005. It is now June. I love the kick drum and the toms. I have always doubted that the bass drum was 22X18, but never actually measured it. (it looks huge. the bigger the better) I hate the damn snare. I got about 5-10 rods stuck in it and had to replace them. I plan on getting a OCDP snare to go along with this rockin' kit. I don't use the middle tom. I mount the highest tom about 4 inches higher than my snare perfectly level with the ground, and as close to the kick drum as I can. I use A Custom cymbals with these and the kit sounds amazing.- Toms are very easy to tune!

I began with a very mediocre set, and when I got the money it came time to upgrade to something more professional, this was perfect set with a great sound that despite the DW name puts out the same great sound, and was very affordable, any drummers ideal drumset.

Very nice drumkit

By Druman

from Houston,TX

I really like my PDP drumset. I've owned it for about a year and now know it's weaknesses. Everyone hates the snare drum but I actually like it. Nothings wrong with it. Yes, I had a broken rod on the snare and the throw-off thread stripped but it was under warranty so all is fine. The stock heads suck but they should be replaced anyway. I replaced them with EVANS EC2's on the toms, REMO pinstripe on the snare, and REMO something rather for the bass. Overall, it's a nice kit. I ended up with the optional 8" and 16" toms and honestly I LOVE the 8" tom but don't really care for the 16". The emarald fade looks to kill :)

Best drumset ever!

This drumset is the greatest. It has the best sound ever. The only difference between PDP and DW drums is the the lugs and the finishes. They sound pretty much the same to me.

A great factory DW kit

I had been waiting for this kit on order for nearly 4 months. When i took it out of the box, i tuned it quickly, then played with the stock heads. The sound is rich...even with the fast tom sizes the toms and bass drum sound phat. The snare needs more exparamenting and tweeking...but if you have another snare preffered, all power to you. The hardware is pretty good... The finish is satin with natural to tabacco fade which looks like higher end DW's.All in all, this kit is steal!

Amazing Set!!

By Drum Dr

from Peabody MA

This is a great set for the price. This is my 2nd set and it blows my 1st out of the water, the maple sound is very punchy and loud, I suggest evans coated heads on these to get rid of some sustain from the stock heads, also the mounting system is PERFECT, you can put the mounted toms wherever you want. I have them like perfectly horizontal and low, and also the fusion sizes allow you to position them as close as you want together which a lot of drummers like. Also the green to black fade is breathtaking under lights, overall this set is pretty much perfect and you can also buy an 8" tom to add or a 16" floor tom which is great. BUY THIS KIT!

Great kit - Upgrade the hardware

This is a super drum set. Sounds great, plays great, fit and finish are good. I've owned it for a year and gig with it weekly. So what's not to like? The heads aren't great (not bad, just average) and the hardware isn't as good as it could be - I'd suggest upgrading to the 9.1 stuff while you're doing the deal!Otherwise, you'll love this kit!

Sweet, Sweet Kit

By Oldskool-Yvsij

from Winter Garden, Fl

I Bought my Emerald Fade kit January 06 and it is the best kit for the money. The fat warm tone rivals only that of it's big brother, the original DW custom kit. Put some good batter heads on this jewel and you will be rockin in no time. I put Evans Hydraulics on this kit and it sounds sweet. Throw a PDP rack around it, outfit it with Zildian A Customs, get yourself a DW 9000 double pedal set with matching DW 9000 hi-hat, and you have a pro grade kit. Save the extra cash and buy this kit. The extra flow can go for the Les Paul to stand beside it. You won't be sorry.

The sound this kit produce it's almost dw. These kits are dw without the Timber Matching process. The best you can have for the money. Comes with thin all maple shells, pro bearing edges and the satin oil finish It's...WOW!. If you want a serious pro drum kit for the money this is what you're looking for; Trust me, I own it.

Great kit for the price.

By kennth monteiro

My kit had some minor factory defects. A warped shell, some seized tension rods after a few tunigs, a delaminating shell, and less than perfect bearing edges. But they sound great, aside form the warped tom. Warm, full, punchy, and great sustain. I would suggest lubricating the tension rods before tuning them so they don't seize. Not the best but a great kit for beginners, touring, and they sound great in the studio.

My first kit was a pacific ez. I played it for 2 years and then decided it was time to move up. Right away I knew I would get another pacific! They are almost an exact match to a dw! pacific makes so of the best drums there are, nothing breaks, comes with ok heads, all maple, great finishes, what more could you ask for. If you are thinking the price is high it is well worth the money, go ahead and buy it you will be pleased! any questions just email me.

I'v had this set since December and i love it! the maple looks and sounds great, the only thing wrong with it is the heads. I had it for less than a month and the MD tom skin broke, but you should almost always replace stock heads,so i wasnt mad. I recommend it to anybody who wants the maple sound without the maple price
