Comments about Pearl Havana Series Bongos:
The Havana Series Bongos Liquid Gold finish is reminisce of the old Eco Tone fiberglass bongo and conga drums from the 1960's. The bongo's fiberglass shell structure is perfect and has good sound project. The cow hide skin selection is also very good. Here comes the big BUT – I had to return these drums because the bottom hardware loops were soldered crooked pointing a little upward not perpendicular. Some of the tuning lugs were seated crookedly and some of the washers had gaps not seating flushed against the loop. Crooked bottom loops will in time causing your lug threads to strip from the misalignment. I was surprise to see this got pass quality control! My other issue with these drums is the tacky large white Pearl letters pasted to the shells. Less is more in this case and the gold plated emblem is plenty enough. Pearl Series Bongos need better quality control and perhaps better color options. Based on my experience with the Pearl Havana Series bongo drum model I would not recommend them, but I will be happy to help with Pearl's bongo quality control and design.
