Oink means good

By BobFrankly

Comments about Pork Pie Maple Snare:

The first time I hit one of these snares with a stick, was the last time I looked for a snare drum. Beautiful wood and great looking chrome curves are all nice and proper, but this snare is about sound and it delivers. It's got a fast pop that can be lengthened with minor bottom head adjustment. Without the snare wire on you can play the first hits off Bob Marley's Jammin and it sounds dead-on. I have an old school Rodgers drum set, and the Pork Pie works perfectly. I have it top and bottom mic'd with a pair of Shure SM57s and the recorded sound is better then any of the other equipment I've used. I use it for punk and hard rock music, but the comparison I've heard used most often is that it's got the (I'm quoting people here) "Pop-Twang from the band 311's snare drum" I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique sound that turns heads.

Hats off to Bill Detamore

By bill 'em all

Comments about Pork Pie Maple Snare:

This man has made a fine company. I have the same series of snare but mine is a 6x12. It is a beautiful sounding snare. I have had Peral piccilo snares and and dw popcorn snares and none of them even come close. This snare would be suitable for any style of music which is evident due to the fact that I use it for Death Metal and Jazz. Thanks Pork Pie

THE popcorn snare

Comments about Pork Pie Maple Snare:

I own the 6x10 maple pictured. This is quite simply the best side snare I've ever heard. I also own the 12x5 PP Little Squealer and the 13x7 PP vented Little Squealer. Both are fantastic, and 13x7 is my favorite main snare I've ever played. But for a side snare, this little 6x10 snare is perfect. Tune it up high, fantastic pop, great accents.

Best 12

By Yoshinya

from Grand Rapids, MI

Comments about Pork Pie Maple Snare:

I actually own a slightly different one than the models listed here, same maple shell, but it's in Pork Pie's Gold Sparkle wrap. About 4 years ago, I was looking for a 12" auxillary snare that had a lot of bite. I happened upon this wonderful snare by accident and it took me completely by surprise! Not only does it have a wonderful snap, but also works very well when tuned lower as a very full-bodied dry (due to the 12" diameter) maple snare. Not to mention that the bearing edges on every Pork Pie drum are exquisite. Bill Detamore really does an excellent job. I hope to own many more Pork Pie snares in the future!

Best Snares around

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Pork Pie Maple Snare:

I own 5 different pork pie snares. These are some of the best snares around. I've recorded with the most expensive snares out there, some of them sound as good as the pork pies, but none have sounded better. Excellent value!

This snare is extremely versatile. It really works in any music scenario. Also the snare has so much tonal range and supply the tight crack sound of soft more edgy sound. Overall an amazing drum

The best on the market

By Simon says

Comments about Pork Pie Maple Snare:

This snare is off the chain I own both the 5x13 and the 5x12. I like the black 5x12 better but the both have pretty much the same sound. I recommend this snare to any one who is looking for a crisp, tonable, versatile, and reliable snare. You won't be disappointed I promise.
