My uncle was into drums when I was in need of some cymbals. One of the cymbals I was given was an 18" Sabian B8 Pro Chinese China Cymbal, made in Canada. My uncle told me it was bought in 1986 brand new out of the box. I noticed it has at least 8 to 9 small cracks around the edges, but it never broke any pieces off. I polished it one day just b/c I had spare time. It was very shiny afterwards, but stll showed hit marks from before. It's a good cymbal, especially for its age. However, it rings too long when you hit it, making it sound like a crash. I don't know about the new cymbals and what their quality is like, but these old ones sure have some tough stuff in the alloy, which is what makes them last. It they're forged with good, durable metal alloys, buy it.

I bought this because I wanted a good china to expand my kit. I had played B8 Pro cymbals before and was very impressed. I think this cymbal sounds terrible. It's fun to set up at shows just because it looks so awesome but it has none of the trashy China sound that you want with a China. There is no complexity or richness in the tone. I am buying a Wuhan china to replace it. If you are considering purchasing one of these then buy a Wuhan. You will save money and get a better sound. You should also note that this cymbal chips easily around the edges.

I liked this cymbal

By Sam I am

from Undisclosed

I have owned the 20" now for three years and it still has an ok finish on it. This is not a cymbal that will need a mic even in a larger area, however it does not sound all that great if it is hit softly, but I'm sure that the smaller versions would. Do not get the 20" if you have a quieter set, because it will overpower any other drum. This is also better to ride on than many of the beginner rides. If you love to play loud, and are just getting started in to drumming, then this is that dream cymbal you are looking for. It has great sound, is affordable, durable, and will get the cops called on you for noise pollution.

I have the 18" version of this cymbal and if your looking for a china that rings out for a while then this is your china. If your looking for a short-life china then you should probably look for something else.

I've owned the 14" and 18" for two or three years and there as nice as when I first got them. I beat them tons and theres still no signs of cracks or anything, very very durable and they sound great. I strongly recommend them.

Longevity, and POWER!!!

By Michael from Thirty 3 Cell

I've had this 20" China for over 10 years now... and I'm still in love with it. It's taken all the abuse I've handed to it, and come back for more. I liked it so much, I bought an 18" China for the left side of my kit.Let nobody else fool you, this thing can take punsihment! I beat the Hell out of my cymbals and have yet to hurt this thing. I've buted AA's and STILL can't hurt either of my B8 Pro Chinas... simply outstanding!

B8pro China

By portnoyrules

from Waynesburg, KY

I ordered one of these about a month ago and it is very different. It is brighter and has a lower profile than most chinas and sounds more like a fierce crash. I use the 16" along with a wuhan. Get it if you have the extra money and want to try something different.

best china for the money

By txdrummer-HbfcC

I'm a professional drummer that's been playing for over 25 years. I own Sabian's AA's and AAX's. I was looking for a nice trashy sound to add to my collection of cymbals. After a lot of research I chose Sabian's B8-Pro, which fit the sound I needed. It's held up to a lot of banging. It's a great sound for a small price, even beginner drummers can afford.

Has good trashy sound and sold at a good price. Great for begginers and advanced drummers looking for that unique sound.

Great Effect

I have used it constantly and it just now finally cracked after a year. I have abused the heck out of it. It is a great cymbal to use to get the type of sound you're looking for.

Sabian B8 Pro Chinese Cymbal

I had been looking to get a good thrashy sounding china for quite a while but really had no desire to burn a hole in my wallet for it. This worked perfectly - great sound and very afforable. I'd recommend this over the wuhan (which are also very good, especially for their price) since it can take more of a beating - mine has lasted several years without problems (I'm in a metal band but I'm not a particularly had hitter).

Good Cymbal... Not quite a china though

By Dabeans

from Westover, AL

I have the 14" version of this cymbal, and I really love it! I've had it for a little over a year now. It actually sounds more like a crash than a china though. It has a somewhat long decay for a china. I would reccomend this to someone looking for a trash crash cymbal, NOT a china cymbal.

I own the 20" version of this and its got a nice low-pitch sound to it...but it rings out forever!! Of course its all about preference... I bought this cymbal because it was a low price, this is the first sabian i bought...so if your looking for a good china and dont mind spending a little extra money, look at the Zildjian Oriental China!

small cymbals=BIG sound

By marco Abyss

from manila, philippines

i got the 14" china a couple of years back and up to this day im still amazed at how great this cymbal is!!! it has a really brillant sound and quite a long decay for a small-sized cymbal. the greatest thing about the 14" is the fact that it added more character to my sound, i threw away (literally) all my splash cymbals coz they won't give me the sound i need the way my chinas can. i'm currently thinking of getting rid of my 16" and 18" crashes to make way for an all-china kit consisting of two 16"s and an 18" coz i know sabian b8 pro chinas won't let me down!!!

give it some time!!!

I just got this (in the 14") a few weeks back. When I pulled it out of the box, I thought I ordered the wrong thing because it didn't look like a china; it has a very low profile and it's not very flanged. Nevertheless, I set it up and took it for a test drive. It took a while to get used to it. It doesn't have the dark trashiness like many other chinas. It's very bright, and has a fairly long sustain. I think it works best as a left-side china over the hi-hats. Like I said, it will take some time to get used to the china-meets-crash-like sound, but this is a very good deal. Buy this if you want an interesting voice on your kit.

Outstanding cymbal for the money.

By Oppressive_drummer

This is without a doubt the best B8, B8 PRO, or Pro Sabian cymbal out there. This thing is really loud and has a very nice tone to it, and like I said, for the money, you just cant beat it. If you are low on cash and cant afford a Carmine Appice or HHX chinese, this is the next best thing. My 20" B8 Pro sounds better, in my opinion, than my 18" AA chinese.

I Love It

By RBear666

from JACKSONVILLE, FL

I Bought this Cymbal almost a year ago and it is still holding up. It has a beautiful sound for the price. I happen to like the B8 Pro Series regardless of what people might think. I play VERY VERY Hard on my equipment and it's nice to have something I don't have to worry about destroying during my playing.

Great China Cymbal!

I have had this cymbal for about 6 months, and it still sounds great. This cymbal is is very loud and trashy. It stands out over all the other cymbals on my set. If you want a loud cymbal this is the one to get.

Pretty decent.

I wanted to outfit my whole kit with Sabian, so I got this for a China in 18". I love this cymbal's accent. It's louder than all my other cymbals, and very durable. The only annoyance I have with it is that it fades really quick. I try to incorprate it as a crash in songs and it just doesn't ring as long as I want it to. As far as China's go, it's excellent.
