OVERVIEW

Designed by the Sabian Vault Team to deliver increased speed and articulate clarity.

Sabian delivers the shivers with the HHX Super Cymbal Pack. It features sonically advanced cymbals that deliver excellent projection and a full, rich tone with tight focus and quick response. Each cymbal in the set is handcrafted from Sabian's B20 bronze, a combination of 80% copper with silver and 20% tin. They are 'Sonically Matched' as pairs, and they are quality-protected by the Sabian 2-Year Warranty.

This Sabian cymbal set includes a set of 14" X-Celerator hi-hats, 14" and 16" Studio crashes and a 20" Stage ride. As an added value, this set also includes an 18" Studio crash and a 10" splash.

HHX X-Celerator Hi-Hat Set
Designed by the Sabian Vault Team to deliver increased speed and crisp, highly defined clarity. While the simmering, modern HHX tonality is generated by the medium-weight top cymbal, the speed and crispness are created by the heavy bottom and its contoured 'Air Wave' design. These contours expel air when the cymbals come together, eliminating sound-muting airlock to create a combination of tone and projection.

HHX Studio Crash Cymbals
The HHX Studio Crash has a thin design loaded with bright tone that shimmers with pure musicality. HHX cymbals put out rich, simmering tones. Super-sized hammering and an exclusive Tone Projection feature add bite to project the musical sounds of HHX Cymbals through everything from pumped-up grooves and thickly textured tracks, to guitar-heavy, high-end wailing. HHX Cymbals combine the best of two worlds, traditional tone and modern projection.

HHX Stage Ride Cymbal
The HHX Stage Ride offers bright stick definition within a shimmering blend of glassy tones, all topped with a solid raw bell. Medium.

HHX Splash Cymbal
The HHX splash delivers fast, biting, and colorful tones with a punchy attack and rapid decay rate with increased punch. Extra thin.

The crashes & ride are spot on. The splashes & hi-hats are great for the set. However, I'd love to complement this set with a Sabian Paragon Effect Cymbal Pack (19" China, & 8" & 10" Splashes), 13" HHX Groove Hats, 18" HHX China & a 22" Artisan Ride. Now that would be one heckuva kit to play!
Sabian's won me over this time!
Absolutely superb set of cymbals!!! I'm a soft to medium hitter and I just love the dynamics of the 18" Studio Crash & 20" Stage Ride. Both are crashable & work great for riding/thrashing. The ride has got a loud bell. What really stands out is the shimmer on the ride across from the edge all the way to the bell. Quite a complex tone (not the most complex I've heard - the Sabian Artisan & Istanbul Agop Signature Agops, Zildjian K Customs are definitely more complex), but very versatile without becoming too overbearing.
The Studio crashes - what can I say, they just have this lovely swell to them (almost as if one was playing them with a mallet but with the attack of a stick).
The hi-hats took me a little getting used to - I won't say they're ideal (the HHX Groove Hats have a nicer cleaner sound) but they more than get the job done once you learn to control them. They definitely grow on you!
Likewise for the 10" Splash. It's not quite as glassy as I'd have liked but it definitely provides variety and nice generic splash sound.
I must admit, the sound samples on Sabian's website are absolutely on the spot for this entire set. Very true to what you hear yourself!
While I myself have no problems, I'm not sure if the splash/crashes can handle a solid thrashing (especially under heavy hands or with drummers with bad technique - I play with a light-medium touch most of the time) in live situations but with good overheads, and a solid engineer at the mix, I think these can get through most gigs.
The rest of the cymbals feel pretty solid to me!
I got these at an amazing discounted price, so I just cannot complain at the sound quality boost these have given to my drumming!

I expected a fuller, deeper sound, from all thiese "special" cymbals. Ride is Too Light for a 20" and does not ring or sizzle. Hi Hats for this set should be 15" and be more responsive. Crash cymbals are OK.
I'm going to try and have hi hats and ride exchanged.

Comments about Sabian HHX Super Cymbal Set:

I replaced a mixed bag of cymbals with this HHX set and love the change. I played the new ride side by side with my old AAX Stage and the HHX is so much more 'musical'. The splash is responsive and fades very quickly, the crashes are well matched. My only negative comment, like somebody else wrote on here, is the packaging. I didn't notice at first, but the edge of the ride is bent down for about 3 or 4" - apparently dropped on its edge somewhere in transit. I considered returning it for a replacement, but decided MF's return process was too much hassle to deal with, plus being without the cymbal for a week or two while they worked the claim.

Unlike what others say, in my opinion these cymbals have adequate power to make your drum set sounds perfect. They have a very fine response and a volume that does not overshadow the rest of the drumset. In small stages they sound perfect, and if you are in a big gig the cymbals respond perfect to eery single mic that i've used. I really recommend these cymbals, are very versatile, because they are perfect in rock and metal as well as pop and jazz. I just have to say... Sabian: You made again!

Comments about Sabian HHX Super Cymbal Set:

Great sounding set. I replaced my old hodge-podge collection of Zildjian cymbals with these. I tried them in stores and liked the sound, but recognized the dark quality. I ordered them to play with my DW fusion kit because the price was unbeatable. Wonderful metal. the only criticism I have is my personal preferance. I do like a brighter higher sounding metal overall. But these are working out very well. The more I play them, the more Ilike them. I just needed a little time to get used to them. The crash symbals ride well too. They really are matched well. I just hang my old 16 in Zildjian ride with them to have that crisp ride when I want it, along with the bright bell. Great rock sound.

          Worth the wait??

          By Anonymous

Comments about Sabian HHX Super Cymbal Set:

This set of cymbals were on back order forever, but after receiving them I beleive they were defintely worth the wait. I was born and raised on Brand "Z" cymbals all my life. One of the problems I've always had with brand "Z" has been unmatched cymbals. They always sound good as single cymbals, but when two or more were hit together they sounded horrible. So in the back of my mind I always wanted to replace them. Then I found this Sabian cymbal pack. I went to all the major music stores nearby and test played every Sabian cymbal I could find. Again, alot of great sounding singles, and a few small cymbal packs, but nothing with all that's included in the Super Cymbal Pack. So I ordered it from M'sF and I am very satisfied with the price, the amount of cymbals included, and of couse the sound. They are perfectly sonically matched, and I do mean PERFECT. Whether hit in succesion, or together, they do not clash with each other, and actually sound great in the mix. These are not "bright" sounding cymbals, they are "dark" sounding. Probably sound better in hard Rock like: Metallica, Disturbed, 30 Seconds to Mars and so on... But no doubt about it, the best sounding cymbal set I have ever owned.

Comments about Sabian HHX Super Cymbal Set:

I've been playing drums for over 40 years. I've always been picky about cymbals. I like crisp bells and overtones that are musical. Some cymbals just sound "out of tune". I gradually moved away from Zildjian to Paiste, and typically lugged my cymbals to the music store to match any new cymbals to the set. I have recently been very impressed with Sabian's line of AAX and HHX cymbals in the store, but worried about ordering online...All I can say is "WOW", this cymbal pack blows me away. Very musical tone...what a great sound, and well matched! I still use a 22" heavy ride, which complements this set nicely, but man these cymbals rock. Overall, this is a great value when compared to purchasing them "ala carte".

These cymbals are fantastic. They are perfect for every kind of music. the crashes are pristine, the hats are crisp or washy whenever you want. the ride is can be washy or clean hits. the splash is awesome as well. I experimented with the splash by setting it up as a stacker with the splash right on top of the 14" crash. Its great by itself as well. Fantastic set of cymbals for intermediate to advanced players.

Comments about Sabian HHX Super Cymbal Set:

I've had these cymbals for about 8 months and now that I'm used to them I absolutely love them! I've always liked the HHX line and this set up is very musical and expressive. Prior to these I played (and still play) AAX crashes, ride, splash, and hats with the Paragon effects pack. Love them live, but for the studio this set has them beat hands down. The crashes are rich and buttery, the bell of the ride is to DIE for, the splash is fast and punchy and the hats have the most defined "chick" sound I've ever heard from foot playing. The way they select the crashes... it's almost as if they're in a nice jazz chord. The ride is just as crashable, but with well defined stick articulation on the bow and bell. My only gripe (and it's a minor one) is that the hats are a little unruly and take a special touch and serious getting used to. And due to their wavy bottom design they tend to angle as you play with the hats closed tight (and i prefer them perfectly parallel.) They're a bit louder in the mix too. All in all, this is a great set of cymbals. I will probably end up buying a different HHX bottom hat, but thats just my personal preference.

Comments about Sabian HHX Super Cymbal Set:

Of all the cymbal packs on this site, this is the one I have coveted the longest. Unfortunately, the price point is beyond my hobbyist reach, even though the goodies they added before Xmas made it almost impossible to resist. I don't own the set but have listened to all the sound files on the Sabian site. The only cymbal that gives me pause is Stage Ride; it has what I call a multi-layered sound, very complex, and to be expected in an HH cymbal. But be sure it's your sound before you plunk down a grand. All the rest of the cymbals sound perfect, though it always makes me wonder why companies like Sabian match a "Stage" ride to a set of "Studio" crashes and calls that matched. You'd think the "Stage" ride would match "Stage" crashes and "Studio" ride match "Studio" crashes. It makes you wonder if they might be packaging slow movers together. But no matter. These are absolutely gorgeous and the price cannot be beat for hand-hammered cymbals. I'd listen in person before buying online (the sound files can never be more than a guide) but if I had a spare grand lying around, I know where it would go.

Purchased this set from the Friend and I am very pleased. Was using AAX dark crashes and I have always preferred a darker tone. HHX are as the advertisments state. Dark and musical and can still cut very well. Same tones at ALL volumes. and they all really match well. A True set. Had some zildian A customs set (basic crash, ride, hats) and they did not feel like they belonged together. At least not in my opinion. Almost decided to try Meinl but I guess I am a Sabian fanboy for life. Look forward to using these bad boys in the studio!!

These HHX cymbals were exactly what I was looking for. I bought this set to replace a set of Zildjian A's that I felt were not articulate enough for the sound I was going for. The HHX's more than fit the bill, providing a bit darker and much more responsive feel. This set it great for jazz and fusion, small clubs and recording needs. They can also hang with more rock oriented styles, but if you're going for something more loud and cutting, these may not be exactly what you're looking for. Regardless, a wonderfully musical, high quality set of cymbals.

Allright! This is the sound I was after when I bought the Zildjian K pack (since returned). Dark and shimmering sound (perfect for recording). I love the ride and hats, and the 3 crashes and splash cover all the bases crash-wise. The Zildjian pack had QC problems and were mismatched. This Sabian pack shows better matching, better build quality and provides better variety with two extra cymbals. Well worth the money. This set is a keeper!
