I have been absolutely floored with this kit...I've played dozens and dozens of drumsets: all the way from Exports, Rockstars, and Stage Customs to DW Collectors series kits, Ludwig Superclassic/Classic Maple/Classic Birch, and just about everything in between.I'm not joking when I say that the build quality, consitency, and features of these moderately priced Sonors transcend their price tag.The shells have well-cut bearing edges, and the unique vertical grain of the plies give the drums an amazingly rich, full, and warm tone... daresay, a tad "warmer" than an all maple shell. The finish on mine, White Sparkle, simply must be seen, preferably under stage lighting, to be believed. After doing some research, I can conclude that yes, this is the exact same White Sparkle Sonor puts on their top-line Designer drums. It's simply unbelieveable! The hardware is rather good, too. It's not extremely heavy-weight stuff, but when you gig, you'll learn that saved weight saves your back. It's well made, pretty well thought out, and is certainly functional. I haven't used the hat stand a lot, as I mostly use Iron Cobra bass/hat pedals, but from using the stock bass pedal on another kit, I can say that it's smooth and has a comfortable action. Most importantly, the SOUND of these drums is KILLER! The bass drum is easily the high point of the kit for me... it's just plain throaty and deep. It sounds very similar to DW collectors series maple basses I've played on... The snare drum has a great strainer, nice crack, and a warm tone. The toms sing nicely, and have an excellent tone.I really love this kit, and would not hesitate to use it in a recording situation. Great drums!

I went to a hole-in-the-wall type of store. I saw the Sonor 3000 Series drum kits and played them. I was amazed at the sound and resonance these drums produced, especially with the factory heads still on them. Now because I played this kit, I am contemplating and stuck between this kit and Yamaha Customs. This drum kit rocks. This set has 12 ply drum shells that are very durable and very loud. You get more for what you actually pay for. Just give these drums a chance to be heard you will not be disappointed.

I have three of these in our rehearsal studios, and they are great. All of my clients comment on how great they sound, especially the toms.

Nice finish on shells, hardware. Great sound for a set under a thousand dollars. You'll want to have cases for this set to keep the value up.

converted Sonar drummer

I first looked at buying the kit because of the price, (I got mine a little cheaper) The extended bass drum has the power I wanted in a solid kick drum, the toms all sound great. My only complaint would be the depth of the snare. I prefer a deeper snare drum, but can't say enough good things about the kit. Drummer friends of mine that have played my kit really like the sound and they look awesome on stage with lights on them. Great buy, you can't go wrong!!

CHAZZ3003

By CHAZZ 3003

I would have to admit I was somewhat skeptical about purchessing this kit because my previous kit was a Pearl Masters Custom; but hearing is believing. I owen a 3003 studio kit in honey maple finish and it's absolutly stunning in appereance; flawless laquer. The 20in bass has exellent bottom thanks to the 17.5in depth and the tom's have that wonderful warm and low tone that higher-end maple drums are know'n for. I only have a cupple of complaints. First, the throw-off on the snare is sometimes difficult to activate, maybe I just got a bad one? Second, one of my boom stands slips, allowing my cymbal to tip upside-down. The factory heads on my kit were o.k. but I replaced them with REMO PIN STRIPS this allowed me to achive the sound I was looking for. Overall a great kit for the price.

very good

By Joey Baughman

I got this set and I am very happy with it. It sounds very good and the hardware is pretty sturdy. My only complaint is that the way the tom mounts are, it is kind of hard to find just the right spot, but once you find it, they won't move. The heads are pretty thin to. Overall, it is a very good set that compares to one that costs a lot more.

I had my doubts about Sonor's Drumsets Quality. I have a Pearl drumset which with this one I learned to play drums, Later I brought a Yamaha Fusion 2003 6 pieces and I loved it.Now after thinking it very well I brought this Sonor Drumset and dude I'm now like "What was I thinking before I got this hardware?!". It's the best Drumset you'll ever play specially for live shows or recording studios. The resonance it's just awesome thanks to the new T.A.R Sonor's mounting system. If you're thinking on buying an awesome drumset, dude trust me you have just the perfect one right on your monitor...

Beautiful inside and out

By Iplaydrums-oybsV

I ordered the Sonor Force 3003 Fusion because of the mounting system, and oh man was that a good idea. It's so easy to use and the tone was exactly what I was looking for. I put some Aquarian heads on it and it got even better. Even the hardware is awesome. The bass pedal is smooth and the Hi-hat stand is sensitive and strong. By far the best set I have ever had. Not to mention it's a gorgeous set, easy to transport, and got the other drummers in my music scene jealous. Buy it. Now. Bah.

Amazing sound

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

First off, let me tell you that this is sound of this set still knocks me flat even after owning it for a few months. I have Evans G1 coated heads on the toms, and they have the most sweet, full, rich tone I could ever ask for. The bass drum sound is also outstanding. The extra length really gives it some extra power that is great when you need volume, especially when setting up a hit in big band, but is sensitive when you feather it. You can really feel this bass drum when you hit it.Only problems are the snare, which is kind of dead. I'd recommend buying a new snare for this, but most kits at this level have weak snares. The tom mounts are also weak, which is weird, because the hi-hat and cymbal stands are amazing.Overall, outstanding kit. You could fool a lot of people into thinking it's a Maple Custom.

I bought a 3001 one set a year and a half ago. The set is wonderful. The hardware is really heavy duty and the set or amazingly versitile. You can take the toms off the bass drum and put them on the cymbal stand if you please for a jazz or punk set up. you can do almost anything with it. Every week i move peices around to optize my playing. Ive played a tama rockstar kit, and it completely blows it away.

Sonor 3005 kit

By Baldy Chris

from Newcastle United Kingdom

I've played drums for over 20yrs & this was the first sonor kit I've had, for a "mid range" kit I was blown away by its sound, when miked up the kick blows the walls down, the white sparkle looks great under the stage lights, I replaced the snare with a brass one but that was my personal taste, the build quality, sound & looks are cracking value for what you pay, in years to come when I upgrade I would definitely go for another sonor such as the Delite. A little more understated than some of the other big names brands but you get more more for yor money Chris UK.

Excellent buy!!

By InFromTheCold

from Branford, CT

I bought this kit as a Xmas present to myself. It was the best present I ever received. The Honey maple finish, that looks yellow, is very unique and looks great under the lights. The sound is amazing. I replaced the stock heads after a few weeks with Aquarian Response heads. The original heads had too many overtones. With the replacement heads I have to say this is the best, most dynamic sounding set I have ever played on. I have been doing this for 30 years, have a Vintage 1970 Slingerland set and a Mapex Mars series set. This Sonor blows them both away!

They are just ok

By Rolandstakeit

This set looks great, but I so far can't get the toms to sound other than cheap. I put evans g2 heads on them and they still sound trashy. I am going to try hydraulic heads next, if that doesn't do it then these are going back. I do like the snare and bass drum, but the toms just suck in my opinion. I should have bought Pearl, I think.

Sonor quality at Excellent Price!!

By Mojo6000

from Berkeley, CA

Was looking for a quick set on a budget. Read all the positive reviews on this set, and am glad to say it has been my experience too. I was concerned when I saw they are Made in China, but found a great finish on the drums, surprisingly 'gig ready' hardware and sound. The bass drum heads are great, but you'll need to replace the snare and tom heads to really see how good this set can sound.

sonor , so good

By Coolguyattack

from destin, florida

my father bought me the sonor force 3003 'fusion set' for a wedding gift and i love them. i've been playing drums for 14 years, i've had a pearl export series and also a 1967 premier jazz kit. but there's something about these sonors. i play 'em all the time. the bass sounds incredible at all times. hooked up to a mic it kicks holes in the celings!!! i love the ball joints to my two mounted toms. they let me play the way i want to play and what style i wanna play.
