Comments about Trick Drums SB1 Laser Trigger Double P1V & Bigfoot:

I've been using triggers for my kicks for about 10 years. I've tried Roland, DDrum, Kickzone, Axis eKit and now these bad boys.

The Kickzone I have found to work the best for the trigger type that sticks to your bass drum head. Axis eKit was a godsend of genius as the trigger attaches to the pedal.

I have the Kickzone as an emergency backup in case something happens to the SB1 setup.

I still use the Axis but the only minor complaint is that you have to calibrate them every time and kind of be aware of the calibration.

These Trick caught my attention because I love the idea of high tech and I usually search for what I consider the best out there.

The installation process is easy but you do have to be careful. Even a clutz like me was able to install these and there are many helpful videos out there as well.

Let me also state the Trick staff is absolutely top notch, superb and willing to go above and beyond to help with any issues you might have.

Once these are installed and setup, you never have to mess with them again. With my particular drum brain (Yamaha DTX 900) I had great difficulty in setting up the parameters to have the triggers react the way I wanted them to.

I tried just about every setting possible until I finally had to contact Trick. What we discovered was that in comparison, the axis trigger sends out a very hot signal and the Trick, not nearly as strong. This turned out to be an issue in my particular case. Trick was able to max out the signal strength and also by tightening my bass drum head a little I was able to achieve the desired performance results.

Since then, these triggers have performed flawlessly. I like that I can have a "normal" acoustic bass drum sound and feel along with having them triggered.

Soundmen have nothing but praise on my kick drum sound. It is perfect every time, both kicks are identical (because that's how I want them) and I can play as fast as I want and have every kick hit solid and articulate instead of the usual low end hum with no definition.

These triggers work differently then any other trigger previously invented which also appealed to me.

Anyone who has experimented with Kick Triggers for a number of years will have a history of "issues." Certainly overall trigger technology has improved considerably but with most other triggers you have to usually make extreme sacrifices to make them function as desired and even then there are moments.

As good as the Axis have been, these Trick have been perfectly flawless, at every speed, all the time. It triggers exactly what I play.

I think these are the best kick triggers yet invented and certainly by far the absolute coolest. Quite expensive but if you can afford them worth it. If you've experience kick triggering issues that have you frustrated then get these.
