A classic high lonesome sound, re-envisioned.

With a design that harkens back to the golden era of mandolin building, the American Series FF mandolin combines the best traditional construction elements with Breedlove's cutting edge aesthetics and attention to detail.

The F-style mandolin features a Florentine body design, with f-holes in the body. The result is a mandolin with a deeper, throatier voice, with lots of bark and plenty of bass. The solid Sitka spruce top and flamed maple back and sides complement these features, and add robust projection, so this F-style mandolin can be heard no matter what arrangement you find yourself in. Whether practicing at home, jamming with your buddies, or shredding some Bill Monroe licks at center stage, this 8-string sounds killer. The Breedlove mandolin 13.94" scale, 1-3/16" nut width, and 16" radius provides comfort and accessibility when running up and down the mandolin's 23 frets. The bolt-on maple neck and ebony bridge and fretboard provide amazing clarity and sustain, while also making the mandolin incredibly sturdy.

Dressed in a smooth satin finish, and featuring Gotoh MF40R/MB tuners, and chrome hardware, this mandolin is truly a bluegrass looker, and will impress everybody within range of its killer tone and breathtaking looks. Includes Breedlove deluxe hardshell mandolin case.

Comments about Breedlove American Series FF Mandolin:

Breedlove hit a home run with this one. I've played Gibsons and Epiphones previously and this little baby sounds better than the Gibsons. Handling is a dream and the satin blond finish really sharp. It's amazing the low and high end volume projects. My band did some studio work recently and the sound of the FF is excellent. Set-up when I received it from M.Friend was right on the money...EXP factory installed medium gauge strings are real nice and last a long time even with a lot of hard playing. This is a helluva deal on a great USA- made three of 'em if you know what's good for you!!!

Comments about Breedlove American Series FF Mandolin:

In the end, besides my frustration with the Tailpiece, this is an amazing buy and you will not regret it.
I bought my Breedlove FF mandolin about two years ago and have not had regret since.
It is amazingly responsive and with a unique tone it adds something special to any jam! Combine Breedlove craftsmanship with their affordability and you have a professional
instrument for half the price of other more brand names. As well, the aesthetics are simple,
yet elegant. A must have for anyone on budget, but still wants a showpiece!

PS: There is only one thing that I must mention is that the tailpiece is a little tricky at first. Getting the loop around the peg and keeping it tight till you wind the string is tough, but I have
a little trick that involves using the old strings that you removed! Take one of the old strings
and cut off a piece about 4-6 inches long at the looped end, then using wire snips cut a piece
out of the loop to make a hook. Then use that hook to guide the new string loop onto the
tailpiece peg! You will always have a hook to use from your old strings. Saved me a lot of
sweat and frustration, pass it on!
The flamed maple back is just beautiful, the wood is matched so cleany that it looks almost seemless. An American company using grade A wood, and luthiers who produce limited numbers of models, not mass produced like many of the bigger brand names.
I scored mine in 2010 for $1800 dollars! MSRP is nearing $2500. As anyone who is looking for a
mandolin knows, professional quality mandolins don't come cheap! The workmanship is not sacrificed, only the detailed flash associated with most high end mandolins, but I prefer less flash!
