Comments about Danelectro 1984 Electric Guitar:

This is my first Danelectro. Love the Lipstick pickups. They have a great sound, nice chime. I had mine modified to add a push/pull pot on the tone control to enable the neck and bridge together or all three and get two extra tones. The bridge pickup alone is great for a strat type. They are very quiet for single coils. I have a lot of guitars and this one is one of my favorites to play. The neck is not too thin, but very fast. I like the 12 inch radius on this one. The Wilkinson trem is excellent. The tuners work fine. Do not believe some of the so called experts doing video reviews of this guitar. It is not Alder, but plywood. There is even a tag included by Evets Corp that states that it contains hardwood plywood but complies with formaldehyde emissions. The description is also wrong. It has 21 frets, not 22. Whatever it is, it works and sounds great. I put on DR Blues which work very good with the pickups. The guitar is very solid feeling. Now for the bad points and why I deducted a star. There was a small gouge in the side of the fretboard at the first fret that I had to sand down a little. Like a couple of my other Asian made guitars, for some reason it turns my fingers black even after changing strings(the first one from Korea). It needed a setup but was not too bad out of the box. Even with the small issues, it is a keeper. It may not be your first choice for a strat, but if you already have one, this is a nice addition. A Very good guitar for the price.
