The compact tone of the Olympic sounds beautiful unamplified on a small stage or in the studio. But now the cutting-edge eSonic HD (High Definition) preamp system and Shadow NanoFlex HD Under-saddle pickup make it possible for archtop players to hear their instrument amplified exactly as they hear it unplugged. The Shadow NanoFlex HD Under-saddle pickup has easy-to-access controls for Master Volume and Master EQ mounted just inside the lower f-hole. Now you have complete control over how much of the acoustic guitar is amplified. The pre-amp system is powered by a standard 9-volt battery that is easy to access, located near the 1/4" output jack.
Historic Epiphone Hardware
The Olympic comes with Historic Epiphone Re-issue Tuners with marboloid "Crown" buttons with an upgraded 18:1 tuning ratio for fast and accurate tuning. The tuners are mounted on an Epiphone Dovewing headstock with pearloid "Banner" logos. Unlike many vintage archtops, the Olympic has a dual action truss rod for easy and perfect set-up. The Floating adjustable ebonoid bridge is made from a synthesized material that has the grain-like texture and look of ebony but is harder and more reliable for years of playing. The historic aged all-nickel trapeze tailpiece is also inspired from Epiphone’s vintage Masterbilt collection. Every new Masterbilt Century guitar is set up at the factory with Cleartone 12-53 gauge strings.

Comments about Epiphone Masterbilt Century Collection Olympic Archtop Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I've always loved the sound of acoustic archtops, and I've flipped over my Epiphone Masterbilt Olympic! It's small enough to play comfortably sitting on a couch, and the solid spruce top makes my fingerstyle folkie/jazz stuff sound golden and harp-like. The neck is fabulous - it feels like an old-school jazz guitar because it IS an old-school jazz guitar! It's perfect for what I do, which is songwriting and the occasional solo or small-group gig. Love it, love it, LOVE IT!

Comments about Epiphone Masterbilt Century Collection Olympic Archtop Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I'm a live electric player who has always wanted to enjoy playing acoustic guitar, but never could. Frankly, I've never found them fun or enjoyable to play. I bought a Martin X series 000 a year two ago and initially liked it for the punchy sound and compact size, but that joy wore off and it's been in the case since. After adding a Gretsch Electromatic to my collection last year, I thought "I wish I could find and acoustic that felt and played like this." I stumbled on the Masterbilt series one day and after playing the Olympic in a local store 3 different days, I placed my order. THIS is the type of acoustic guitar I've been waiting to meet my whole guitar playing life! Something about the way the arched top compresses the sound just does it for me. The feel of the neck and the fingerboard radius is different from any acoustic I've ever played before. Smooth as silk. The electronics reproduce the sound wonderfully (although the bridge mounted pickup is very sensitive). For the price, this is a very fine instrument. In my practice time I've been reaching for this before reaching for any of my electrics, and that has NEVER happened before. It is so fun to play, fit and finish are beautifully flawless and it feels just plain right in my hands.
That said, I'll wager that this is not going to be the acoustic guitar for everyone. In fact, most players probably won't be interested (which is part of the appeal to me). If you're a jazz player looking to play some acoustic, you may want to give this serious consideration. I'm very happy with this purchase and for the first time, excited about playing acoustic guitar.

Comments about Epiphone Masterbilt Century Collection Olympic Archtop Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Fantastically playable in parlor sized body with superior quality sound - if you are an acoustic player, this is what you need to record and play with other musicians playing non-acoustic instruments. Perfect for rhythym and for flatpicking and finger styles, but you can add amplification and effects to your sound to make it really stand out.
If you are just learning to play this would be a great investment - it plays easily and sounds fantastic and will endure the test of time.
