Wonderful axe for the price!

By Ian-haCqE

from Sioux Falls, SD

I never thought I would find an ax like this for the money. I bought it last monday, and ive playe a show with it, and even after transporting and eveything, the only problem I've had is some minimal fret buzz (easly fixed). I think that it playes very well, and it sounds good right out of the box(just a little too much bass in the middle and neck position for me). plus the "fake" steel pickgaurd is cool-looking too. I have absolutly no regrets about buying this ax, and I know from some frends who use some of the higher-end Music Man stuff that this ax will last me for a long time. I would give it a 9.5 out of 10.

Phenomenal Guitar for the Price !!

By Johnny Axis

from McFarland WI

The Music Man Sub1 guitar is an incredibly well crafted instrument for such a bargain price. The tone is great, the neck is sleek AND smooth, and the guitar really does stay in tune when you go ape on the whammy. I was a little doubtful (being a Floyd guy), but after giving it a good workout, the Sub1 really did stay in tune. I originally bought this guitar as a backup to my Music Man Axis. Now after jamming on it a while, it might give my old faithful a run for its money. Trust me, the Sub1 absolutely rocks!!

This guitar is great. Smooth neck. Fast action. Excellent tone. Worth every penny.

One of the best

By Paul-KjG5U

from sapulpa, OK

I was very excited when I saw that music man was offering the Sub1, since I could never afford an axis or petrucci model. as soon as I got this thing, I couldn't put it down. Even without a setup it played great, and after a setup it is flawless. You can beat the tremelo to death with confidence, because the tuning isn't really going anywhere. Pickups are really good and versitile. if you like the feel of a music man, you will not find a better guitar for the money.

Sweet Axe.....

By Mike-pCH2q

from gardencity, mi

I don't actually own this axe yet, BUT I have been courting it at G.C. for a few months now and it's by far my fav. Guitar there to play hands down! I play a punk/metal sound similar to A7X, atreyu, tsunami bomb and this guitar despite not having a mahogany body, delivers all the warmth and presence that I could ever want. I highly recommend getting one, cause I'm sure gonna!

Sweet Lord

I have an Ibanez RG, a 1960 reissue strat, and an original 1970 strat. I play the strats sometimes in the studio, but for most everything I use this musicman. The fretboard is extremely fast. I have fallen in love with ernie ball. I play mine through my peavey transtube. It's wonderful.

What a great guitar!

By Howlin'waters

from Tacoma, WA

I happened into my local guitar store just before Christmas. I stopped in to buy my son a gift certificate. Since I was there I thought I'd play a bunch of guitars that I can't really afford. I played several Les Paul's ranging in price from $900 to a little over $3000 and while I was at it I figured I'd try a PRS and some Epiphone Les Pauls and since I own an OLP which is a Music Man copy I figured I'd try a Music Man. The only Music Man they had in the store was this Sub1. Wow was I blown away! This little guitar plays nicer, stays in tune better and sounds better than any of these higher priced rigs bar none. If you can find one run don't walk to get it. You won't be sorry. Needless to say I didn't get out of the store without one either. Oh BTW I played all of those guitars with a repro Fender Bassman amp the Sub1 sounds way better than any Les Paul, the sustain will blow you away.

A must even for the experienced

The only reason I gave it a nine was because the pickups. I replaced them with Dmarzio Evos, now it's cooking! This guitar turned me in to a Music Man believer and I own quite a few high end guitars.

Excellent Choice For Any Musician

This Music Man SUB1 guitar was on display at Guitar Center. Someone was playing it at first, so I waited patiently. I spent a lot of time playing all sorts of other guitars such as high-end Gibsons, Fenders, Ibanezes, and Jacksons. When it came around my time to play this Music Man, I was basically blown away. The super sleek, smooth, and fast neck accomponied well with the smaller frets. My hands flow over the fretboard smoothly. The tuners and the bridge keep it in tune very well. The tremolo does allow itself to be used often without much tuning changes. The pickups are pretty good, not the best, but I won't change them soon. Overall, everything about this guitar is better than many other medium to high end guitars. The sustain rivals that of the Les Paul.

this thing rocks

i purchased mine at a store. it was a floor model with minor damage on the pickup wrapping so i got a sweet deal on it. the looks are lacking but it makes up for it. the tuners are awesome, as is the whammy bar. you can't scratch the paint if you try, and it makes seriously awesome sounds. the other guitar player in my band has an sg and a peavey, and i feel my sub sounds better through my crate/pod. the only thing i don't like is the metal pick guard, but i'm getting used to it.

The Beast

By Mutated Minds

from Haarlem

This guitar is a real beast. I also own a Bc Rich Iron bird but this guitar is much much better. It looks agresssive but it sounds even more agressive. I put it in my Mesa Boogie Dual reciever and it was really really great. It really scream combining it with a crybaby. Great stuff.

Amazing Guitar!!!

By Matt-6LFls

from Macomb, Mi

This is one of the best guitars in its price range. I own a epiphone les paul and a american strat and I would choose this guitar over either of them. Sounds great right off the shelf. If you are looking for a guitar in this price range buy this one!

Good choice

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I own a couple of guitars with floyd rose and I have been looking for something JUST like this. It's pretty nice looking and pretty convenient. I don't like that where you rest your picking hand there's no 'ergonomic' design, it's actually uncomfortable and after a while painful. The sound is good and the pickups are not bad. I will eventually change these for DiMarzios. The pickup switch is pretty good and the bridge is great, just what i was looking for. I think it is a bit expensive for the features, i guess it's because you're paying for the american made MM stuff... oh well, it's worth it, though.

very good

The satin neck and short scale make it a very fast neck with good action and the humbuckers give it a very good sound. i dont know if its the briidge or the tuners but no matter how much abuse i put on the tremolo the guitar stays in tune pretty good. the paint is almost impossible to scratch and the metal pickguard makes it look very industrial. i would recomend this to anyone looking for good guitar.

Super Axe

Was looking for moderately price backup guitar for my MIA Strat and was told by a buddy to check out the Sub 1's. Fast neck, super setup out of the box, nice pickups (I will eventually change them, though). The Trem is very nice and the tone is awesome. This is one of the nicest guitar for the money I've ever played. If you're looking for quality and great tone and don't have the cash grab one of these bad boys.
