The Fender 60th Anniversary American Ultra Luxe Jaguar electric guitar takes a historic design and refines it for modern times. The Ultra Luxe Jaguar has shape-shifting humbuckers

The American Ultra Luxe Jaguar streamlines the control layout of a vintage Jag like a race car: when all the power is under the hood, you don't need extras to experience the adrenaline. The Double Tap humbuckers here were designed by Fender's Tim Shaw. Each can be tapped into single-coil mode without dropping any dBs. It's a great way to split your rhythm and solo tones without having to stomp on a pedal.

A neck that's superior for soloing

Fender specs an augmented D-shaped maple neck on the Ultra Luxe Jaguar. It's flatter than the traditional C profile, resulting in faster play—all of the shredders on the Musician's Friend staff gravitated toward it and grooved to it. Augmentation occurs near the 12th fret where the profile gets slightly fuller. If you spend time soloing on upper registers, you'll dig the feel. The ebony fretboard has a compound radius facilitating lower-fret rhythms and open cowboy chords; it flattens out as you head to the second octave for cleaner string bends.

On the American Ultra Luxe Jaguar, all of the hardware is covered in chrome—pickup covers, control plates and the Adjusto-Matic with string-through body bridge. Shine a spotlight on it, and this sucker's gonna stick out on stage—in the best way possible.

A body made with classic construction

Fender builds the Ultra Luxe Jaguar with an alder body, the same wood used in 1962. We're all fans of that tonewood, as it's light and resonant. The body is finished in gloss urethane for long-lasting shine.
