Accessible body design with undersaddle pickup and special preamp with built-in tuner for accurate performing.

The GNFLE is a standard in Giannini's long tradition of making classical instruments. One of the first cutaway classical guitars ever designed, it provides a great feel and easy access to the upper frets for easy playability. Cedar wood is the perfect complement to a classical instrument. The flexability of having the built-in EQ and tuner built inside the instrument makes it extremely practical in either an acoustically enviornment or a live setting. This classical instrument is a "classic" you should consider too.

Comments about Giannini GNFLE CEQ N Cutaway Nylon String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Be advised that this instrument has a 48mm nut and thus a slightly narrower fretboard that a classical guitar. I plan to replace the strings and nut. These considerations seem minor given the outstanding value this guitar represents. While exceptionally light the guitar's body is only slightly shallower than a classical and features a superb solid cedar top that produces a surprisingly deep lower register. The neck fingerboard and frets as well as the action were perfect right out of the box. The construction and finish are flawless . The Giannini on board preamp features a 3-band eq. with built in tunerand XLR output jack that are in my opinion superior to comparable Fishman models. This system cancels feedback perfectly and the tone controls are calibrated to this guitars range. The electronics are completely noise free. The tuning machines do not slip and function better than expected, as this feature is so often sacrificed to cost cutting. I will probably end up purchasing a collection of Giannini nylon string guitars because this model at the low end of their line has proven on inspection to surpasses anything anyone else is marketing at 3 and possibly 4x the price. Neither Yamaha not Takamine offer an instrument comparable to this even at several times the price.

Nice Price But Expect Playability Issues...

      By Petros

      from New Mexico

Comments about Giannini GNFLE CEQ N Cutaway Nylon String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

First, understand the red cedar top does not look like the photo you see here at MF. It is much more of a cinnamon brown than an orange varnish look. Other than that the guitar actually has nice binding that you would expect only on more expensive models.

However, a good guitar needs far more than good looks. The first instrument I ordered had fret buzz caused by the 12th fret, which cannot be fixed through truss rod adjustment and would have required grinding down the fret and re-crowning. After an exchange, the second guitar had very bad buzzing on the open low E string, which indicates the nut was cut too low. Again, a truss rod adjustment only got rid of the other buzzing on the lower frets. Nothing but cutting and installing a new nut would fix the open string buzz. The strings on this second instrument were also very rough to the touch.

If you're okay with either sending it off to the luthier or doing some work yourself, then I'd say good deal. If I'm buying a brand new guitar, at any price, I don't expect an obvious defect.

I'll offer one more bit of info: If you expect to buy this to record through XLR jack, the Piezo pickup is VERY sensitive and unless you are careful you will hear all movements of the instrument and your hand brushing against the instrument. To be fair, this may be an inherent problem with all under-saddle piezo pickups, not just this one.
