Don't Forget

With its wild style, high-octane pickups and speed-friendly neck, this ax is begging to shred.

The Flying V is a rock and blues icon played by legendary artists, such as Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, Lonnie Mack, Dave Davies and others, with a radical design that was way ahead of its time when first released in 1958. The Flying V 2017 T captures every nuance of the original styling, and delivers tones that match its iconic and aggressive looks, thanks to a pair of roaring Dirty Fingers humbuckers, which are among the most powerful pickups Gibson has ever produced. While it is widely used in heavy rock and metal, the Flying V 2017 T is much more than that, too. Its super-fast neck, effortless upper-fret access, comfortable shape and natural sustain also making it perfect for a broad range of other styles, from jazz to blues, grunge to prog-rock. The guitar comes protected in a Gibson hardshell case with a premium leather strap, a Gibson multi-tool and a polishing cloth.

Quality Control Issue

from Saint Paul, MN

Comments about Gibson 2017 Flying V T Electric Guitar:

I purchased a new 2017 Model flying V. I don't know if I got a bad one or if Gibson still has QC issues. The serial number is nearly invisible, not embossed at all. The factory stamped "Made in USA 2017 Model" was not visible. I think I could make out the "d" in "made" and "7". Very sloppy. I don't expect this from a Gibson. They have also gone to a grenadillo fretboard which is a substitute to the traditional rosewood/ebony board. Musicians Friend told me if it plays fine it should be alright. I still returned it because I am sure I would have issues if I were ever to sell it. Gibson's quality isn't what it used to be unless you buy a Custom Shop Gibson.

Comments about Gibson 2017 Flying V T Electric Guitar:

Plays and sounds great. No crackles, pops, or humming, fret buzzing or dead notes. Dirty Fingers are hot pickups but not overly so. Needed some setup out of the box but it's to be expected mail order. Finish was pretty much flawless there was alot of lauqor build up on the truss rod nut again no big deal. Grenadillo was darker than the picture, definitely lighter than ebony and lighter more open grain than rosewood personally I like it somthing different and I cannot hear any real difference. Really great guitar! superb playability!

Comments about Gibson 2017 Flying V T Electric Guitar:

I picked one of these up as a scratch and dent and was very impressed by it. The guitar is the prototypical heavy metal guitar from the 1980s and it rocks. The fret board is rolled and a light grenadillo finish which is fine but feels great. I really like the Dirty Fingers pickups, they are great for high gain rocking. I have my guitar downtuned a half step and that kicks the dirt factor up a bit in a good way. The case is an excellent inclusion, especially compared to the 2016's gig bag. I also like the fact that it comes with a strap. That is a nice add too. I don't quite know how mine got labeled a scratch and dent because it is in great shape and sounds awesome. I would strongly recommend this to any aspiring metal heads.
