1958 revisited by the Custom Shop.

The 1958 Les Paul Reissue VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Electric Guitar from the Gibson Custom Shop has the great features, tone, and looks that made the original '58 Les Paul a classic, but with a plain top for "workhorse" comfort and feel. Features a maple top, mahogany back, and one-piece set-in mahogany neck with rounded '50s neck profile, nickel plated hardware, and an original ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge.

The Gibson Burstbucker Pickups used are historically accurate "Patent Applied For" replicas with an airy tone and unbalanced coils. A medium output Burstbucker 1 is used in the neck position, while the Burstbucker 2 in the bridge position has a slightly hotter output. Both have unpolished magnets and non-potted coils ” like the original "Patent Applied For" pickups.

Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Series instruments, the 1958 Les Paul Reissue Plain Top VOS is handcrafted for comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitrocellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently aged vintage guitar. Includes Gibson Custom Shop case, a certificate of authenticity, and custom care kit.

The first Les Paul I ever played

Comments about Gibson Custom 1958 Les Paul Reissue Plain Top VOS Electric Guitar:

So there I was in Portman's Music, eager to try out the authentic Gibson Les Paul they just got in stock (as opposed to the Epiphone Les Pauls). I'd never played a Les Paul before, and this was the first one they'd ever had, so it was a first for both of us. I took it into the sound room, plugged in to a Marshall half-stack, and... magic. It's got a thick neck but plays very fast, a beefy, crunchy sound that is this guitar's hallmark, and yes, a prodigious weight (which I actually like). Despite the price tag, I purchased it on the spot, and have not regretted it since. My only complaint is that the famous Les Paul sustain is not much evident; notes decay pretty quickly, no matter what amp I'm using. Other than that, it's an amazing instrument.

Quality Les Paul

Comments about Gibson Custom 1958 Les Paul Reissue Plain Top VOS Electric Guitar:

I have not had this guitar for a week and I'm lovin it. The quality of the custom shop is phenomenal. Exceptional craftsmenship through and through. The sound is very beefy and the pickups fits well - the lows are tight, the highs cuts through but not too sharp with creamy mids. Tone control doesn't suck out all the treble - very subtle. The neck is excellent, nice and chunky very much like a baseball bat but don't worry, I have medium size hands and it feels extremely comfortable. Lets you dig in. The vos is pricey but you really are paying for what you get and that's top shelf custom shop quality. My only complaint is that my guitar has a little rattle every now and then when I pick the high e string. Doesn't hurt the sound but gets annoying.
