A '30s-style Jumbo designed by the hall-of-famer to be the best performing acoustic guitar available.

The Gibson Acoustic-Electric Jackson Browne Model is a true collaboration between the artist and the guitar maker and is inspired by Gibson's fabulous Jumbo body design of the 1930's.

Jackson worked with Gibson Montana for 5 years perfecting this "round shoulder" Jumbo. He desired to create for upcoming generations of musicians the best acoustic guitar available ” made by Gibson ” with no modern "compromise" or shortcuts in construction, design, and features. This guitar would deliver the most natural and magical "tone quality" & superior live performance capability anywhere on this planet.

The Gibson Jackson Browne Model design is based on the Gibson acoustic guitars Jackson has been performing with for over a decade ” that have left his audiences in awe of his natural acoustic tone on the big stage.

Its internal acoustic-electric pickup and preamp system from Trance Audio is handmade and offers unparalleled reproduction of the guitar sound when plugged in and amplified.

The Trance Audio Amulet:
True Stereo Guitar Pickup System

The Amulet is a true-stereo acoustic guitar pickup and preamplifier system designed for the professional or semi-professional musician who is not satisfied with traditional saddle or magnetic pickups. The Amulet system utilizes two of Trance Audio's Acoustic Lens T3 transducers which are mounted to the soundboard on the inside of the guitar. The Acoustic Lens accurately reproduces the warm, woody textures generated by the guitar's soundboard.

Alternative pickup arrangements are also supported - the Amulet can be configured to support magnetic pickups or other transducers. An internal stereo preamp boosts the signal at the guitar and outputs a low impedance signal, allowing long cable runs without loss of fidelity. The compact control unit at the other end of the cable presents a stereo or mono signal to your mixer or amplifier. A high quality, user- selectable low cut filter is included to concentrate and focus the low end power of the Acoustic Lens for smaller speaker systems and amplifiers. The carefully engineered reponse eliminates unwanted low frequencies without removing any of the low end power of your guitar, even on instruments that are tuned far below standard pitch.

Trance Audio Lens Pickup
The Acoustic Lens represents the state-of-the-art in pickups for the acoustic guitar. Its unique Triaxial Transducer Technology (T3) allows it to sense vibration in all three physical planes (horizontal, vertical and lateral), and sums them in stereo to produce an incredibly accurate "sonic picture" of the Jackson Browne Model A's soundboard.

This ultra-sensitive transducer excels at reproducing the warm, woody character of the guitar, coupled with the essential sounds of the body and neck, which most saddle tranducers simply ignore. The Acoustic Lens has been favorably compared to a high-quality microphone, but without all the hassles. You get the same great sound time after time while being free to move about the stage or studio.

The Acoustic Lens is mounted internal to the acoustic guitar beneath the saddle. A special adhesive is used which does not damage the guitar in any way and can be removed later if so desired.

Simply The Best Plugged-In Sound I've Ever Heard!

    By Wayne Morrison

    from RI, USA

Comments about Gibson Jackson Browne Model A Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The following review is one I left on the Bose Musicians Forum. The Bose professional live systems work incredibly well with this guitar and pickup and I strongly recommend them:

It came today. I played it acoustically and then through the Bose Compact flat, straight in. I then added the Bose T1 controller and then a DPA 4099 mic in conjunction with the Trance Amulet System. Here are my initial thoughts: To begin with, I never really wanted a Gibson guitar. I've owned and played (or, do own and play) Taylors, Collings, Martins, Santa Cruz, Goodalls (love them a lot) and a few odds and ends ( first Harmony acoustic my Mom bought me...with one inch string action).

The reason(s) I went with this guitar had to do with a few things about Jackson Browne. I've known for a while he's an acoustic guitar addict and loves tone. I've read in the past about his infatuation with the Gibson Roy Smeck 12 fretters as well as his praise for the Trance Audio pickups. All that along with the fact that his vocal range is close to mine led me to this guitar. Maybe the biggest thing has been my continual disappointment with the pickup sound of acoustic guitars in general and the fact that Browne claimed this guitar with the Trance system sounded like the guitar, but louder. I am also aware that three people whose live guitar sound I admire, Browne, Neil Young and Michael Hedges use(d) some variations of the Trance systems.

The guitar is strung with 12-53. The neck is slightly wider than I'm used to and it does take a few minutes to get a flatpick working the spacing a bit. Fingerstyle is comfortable. The oddest thing is the incredible depth of the body coupled with the short neck. But I got used to it quite easily. The action was medium-low and it plays like butter! The sound has a pronounced punch in the lower mid-range. Overall, the guitar is on the darker tonal side. It has great intonation and full volume up and down the neck. In short, it sounds great and should get better over time.

But the payoff was when I plugged it directly into the Compact (after going through the Amulet box that allows you to plug in the weird 5-pin cable and go out to the system with an unbalanced cord). The sound was a joy to hear; full, resonant and deep. It sounded VERY close to the acoustic guitar without amplification. There may have been slight frequency differences but they weren't obvious ones. Just louder and fuller. I added a Bose T1 controller and went fishing, finally settling upon the Taylor Jumbo setting. A few other presets sounded good too but this one seemed to fit this guitar the best. With this setting, the sound became amazing. Simply the best pickup sound I've ever heard in person. Then, I added the DPA mic and it increased the air and added some cool textures. I probably used 80 Trance and 20 mic or thereabouts.

I would definitely be fine using the guitar with the Trance pickup alone, but for more quiet events such as weddings I would probably add the mic. In short, I'm extremely happy with the playability and sound of the guitar. The Trance Amulet delivers the knockout punch that has me smiling as I write this. A keeper for sure!
