An updated Nighthawk with a P-90 single-coil pickup, and a "Patent-Applied-For" humbucking pickup.

The Gibson Nighthawk 09 Electric Guitar features a gorgeous non-arched AAA maple top on a bound, thin-contoured, single cutaway body and a 22-fret bound rosewood neck on a set mahogany neck. The Limited Run Nighthawk '09 is loaded with two of Gibson's most outstanding pickups to produce a rare combination of tones. Widely known as Gibson's first successful single-coil pickup, the lean and mean P-90 (neck) offers a stellar combination of high output and biting treble response. The Burstbucker 3 (bridge) has unpolished magnets and non-potted coils, like the original "Patented Applied For" pickup. It is slightly overwound, with hotter output. All hardware on the Gibson Nighthawk guitar is chrome including Kluson tuners and a fixed Tune-o-matic bridge with a stopbar tailpiece. comes with a special Limited Run Series certificate of authenticity and a black hardshell case with white interior and silkscreened Gibson USA logo.

I cant say enough about this guitar. I got #42 and it is simply a perfect guitar for me. This is not (by far) the most expensive guitar I own, but I've fallen in love with this one and sadly my LP and Parker Fly will probably be put to the side for quite a long time. Body, Neck - PERFECT (after proper setup). Simply put, it is the finest example of a USA built Gibson I've come across. For the price and features, you would be hardpressed to find a better deal. Binding.. Platinum plated hardware.. Chambered.. Real MOP Logo inlay..Can't be beat. I also prefer this bridge over the original style. PS Old schoolers: This is not a re-issue, it is a "Limited Run" Get COSM and stop complaining about the P/Us. They're great. Cheers, Gibson.

The Nighthawk 2009 is a sleeper!!!

By GoofyDawg

The original Nighthawk was a bit of a quirky guitar, which probably accounts for why it had a very short production life. But the Limited Run Nighthawk 2009 is a far cry from the original, even though it shares the same body shape. The P-90 / Burstbucker 3 pickup combination makes this guitar a versatile tone machine that can easily grock heavy, SG-like tones, to singing Les Paul leads. The lightness of the guitar - mine weighs just under 5 lbs and the average weight is 4.6 lbs - means you can gig with this axe for hours and hours. The Nighthawk is all about the player, the 60's thinline neck with a wide profile is super sweet to play, and I love how Gibson placed the 3-way selector on the upper bout like a Les Paul. So much easier to reach on the fly! And don't be fooled by the price. This guitar is custom shop worthy.
