OVERVIEW

An exact replica of the original version.

The S-200 TBird is one of Guild's most iconic, uniquely recognizable guitars. This reissue is an exact replica of the original versions produced between 1964 and 1968, featuring an asymmetrical all mahogany body sure to catch the eye of the guitarist looking to blaze his or her own trail. However, this guitar’s appeal isn’t just about its looks – its unique controls create the widest array of tones offered on any Guild instrument, drawing on its dual Guild LB-1 Little Bucker pickups to achieve almost every conceivable color on the palette.

The LB-1s are replicas of Guild’s original humbuckers, offering an array of tones from sparkly clean single coil-esque spank to thick and warm humbucker sounds that fatten and sing when driven. Switching capabilities include rhythm or lead modes, pickup on/off, and standard volume and tone controls. When engaged, an optional tone capacitor creates single-coil tones while maintaining the hum-free reliability of the LB-1s.

The TBird also features the Hagstrom Vintage Tremar, a reissue of the vibrato system that is considered the crown jewel of many Guild solid body electric models from the 1960s. Along with the authenticity of the Hagstrom Vintage Tremar as a historic Guild feature, this reissue includes mechanical refinements such as fully adjustable spring tension for a user-customizable feel and pitch range, and a locking trem arm for optimal security.

The TBird features a vintage C shape set mahogany neck and bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid block inlays. Other period-correct details include open gear vintage tuning machines, and famed asymmetrical headstock adorned with Guild’s logo and mother-of-pearl Thunderbird icon. The S-200 TBird includes Guild’s deluxe padded gig bag.

Comments about Guild S-200 TBird Solid Body Electric Guitar:

I have been wanting the Gretsch version of this guitar but couldn't and wouldn't put that much money out, however I am glad they re-issue this Guild model from the 60's. I found it to be fun to play, responsive and the looks of the Vintage Sunburst is awesome. Definitely a keeper and will sing many genres of music with this fine Korean guitar.

Comments about Guild S-200 TBird Solid Body Electric Guitar:

What a beautiful . This is one beautiful, fantastic guitar. I like it more than my Jaguar. So very versatile with a wide range of shaping. The mother of pearl inlays are the real thing. I would recommend this guitar to all my fellow musicians family and friends. I've been playing guitar for over 50 years.

Comments about Guild S-200 TBird Solid Body Electric Guitar:

I picked one up as a scratch and dent for an incredible price and was nicely surprised by how nice a guitar it is. After a bit of adjustment, it was very playable. Comfy medium C shaped neck. The electronics are a bit complicated but very similar to my Jaguar and Jassmaster. Unlike them, the rhythm circuit is actually useful (not overly bassy). I'm not sure how much I'll use it live, but there certainly is a variety of tones available. The low cut switch works as well. Not really a single coil sound, but maybe more like a filtertron. The pickups themselves sound decent - medium output and balanced tone. And the funky trem set up is good for some wiggle (not dive bombs), comparable to a bigsby or maestro. Knock off a few shec's for a tiny chip on the headstock? I'm in! BTW, the wife says it's ugly, but I like different looking guitars!

Comments about Guild S-200 TBird Solid Body Electric Guitar:

I have always wanted a Guild S-200 because of the unusual appearance. Leary of buying older guitars, I was happy about the reissue. The finish, inlays and hardware are stunning. Right out of the box, the action was good; with a little tweaking, it is great. I have a Jaguar and am fond of fooling with the switches and knobs. The T-bird has a similar setup, not hard to figure out. Another very important feature - it sounds great. The unconventional shape, the sound, the playability and beautiful fit and finish make it one of my all time favorite guitars.
