So i pulled the trigger on this purchase spontaneously. I was at the music shop looking at some Takamines and then I got home, saw this guitar online and was instantly attracted to it. So I order it, without ever having played it. While waiting I read some mixed reviews. Some people love it, some hate it....I am extremely impressed with this guitar. The finish and wood grains on this guitar are absolutely stunning! I got the vintage violin and she is a looker. Plugged in this guitar sounds fantastic, very full and organic sounding. Unplugged it is a little quiet, which is to be expected of a thin bodied acoustic, but I solved this problem! I put a Planet Waves O-Port in this guitar and what a difference!!! With the O-Port this guitar is now loud, rich and beautiful sounding unplugged, and plugged in it even sounds clearer and warmer with the O-Port installed.....Paired with the O-Port this guitar is phenomenal for the price. Plus the on board tuner is fantastic, i wish all of my guitars had one. And to top it all of it came from the factory with a pretty good setup (just a minor adjustment of the truss rod was needed for some low E string buzz), and D'Darrio EXP strings! I cant express how much I love this guitar and paired with the O-Port its a major win in my book. Give this a guitar a second look, you wont be dissapointed. (Oh and its has an XLR input on it so you can run right into a PA system....awesome awesome awesome!!).....Did I mention I really like this guitar?
Built like a tank, very solid. The Finish is GORGEOUS! Amazing Flame to the top, and the rainbow abalone rossete is beautiful.
Great for the money! Especially when paired with a Plant Waves O-Port.

Definitely a beautiful guitar to look at. Sounds great plugged in with the Fishman pickups. Not a very full sound acoustically, but it is an electric afterall. The problem I encountered with mine is that something inside the body of mine resonates and buzzes at the same frequency as my D string. I think its the chords on the pickup vibrating off the wood. I tried adjusting the neck as well as the action, but it still persists. Just a manufacturing flaw I'm sure, but annoying none the less. Just OK

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'm a bass player, and I purchased this guitar to sit on the porch and make music with my wife. We did a LOT of research and shopping before I chose this guitar, and I KNOW the right decision was made. Out of the box, after tuning the strings and letting the guitar set over night to acclimate, it plays like a dream and sounds superbly SWEET! The action is super low, but there is absolutely no fret buzz. I plugged it in to my SWR/Accugrove ElWhappo bass amp just for grins, and it blew me away. My Ibanez AEG20E sounds AMAZING! A lot of people opine that this guitar's tone is a little thin unplugged, but I have to disagree. For a smaller, shallow bodied acoustic, the tone is exactly what is should be. Rich and sparkly with accented highs, rich mids and subtle bass. Did I mention that it's BEAUTIFUL, too? The flamed sycamore top shimmers in the sun as the light dances through the many different hues. I've been looking REALLY closely, and I cannot find any flaws in the construction, the assembly or the finish. The Ibanez AEG20EFlamed Sycamore is an elegantly appointed guitar, and with it we will build memories that will be treasured for a lifetime. Now I guess I gotta start savin'up for a couple of California Blondes...

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

9 is all i do on reviews, and i give this my best. If you buy this guitar and something is not right i believe you should ask for a replacement because i know how nice this instrument can be, and is in my opinion. I am a Ibanez fan now, Have Fender/Blueridge/Takamine/Michael Kelly/and Ibanez is my favorite of my collection so far. Play on my friends and make the world a better place...
Just recieved Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore in antique violin finish last night as a gift for my son....well maybe not lol. Opened it up and im super impressed. Wood grain changes as you tilt it like a fine made violin, gold tuners make it look elegant, finish looks perfect front back and sides, neck fits my hand perfect, no buzzing, nice set of D'addario strings that i dont have to replace like i do with most Chinese guitars. Fishman electronics with tuner that works and even comes with batteries installed.
Not disappointed, everything is as described in other positive reviews. Will be ordering another for my collection. Stop wasting your time, order now and smile with me, it will make your day...
Recieved this on sale and discounted for christmas present to give away, I will be buying another to keep. Have purchased a collector Takamine $1800.00 special through musicians friend back in 90's and i like this guitar much better. Better looking, nicer wood grain, finish is flawless, built in tuner, You will no be dissappointed, BUY IT!

Great Action, Sounds good, Looks Sharp, Reliable.

By For-fun Player

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

For the price, I got more than I ever expected. Great value. Unplugged, it's average, but plugged in... it's a beast. Well built, small for sitting, electric for stage. The finish is very attractive... my friends love it. The action was low right out of the box. B string had a slight buzz, but just needed a set-up, & new strings. D'Addario Lights or Mediums are recommended. Good for flat pick or finger picking. Unplugged tone is obviously not what a solid wood or full-sized guitar would produce, but the durability is better, & it sounds great plugged in. Scratch it, who cares? Scratch a Taylor or Martin... many sleepless nights. Fine for playing unplugged in a small room... practicing in the family room or at small gatherings... maybe some x-mas songs?! Completely legit guitar for a more than reasonable price. Unless you already have several top-end guitars, I recommend this 6-string for a small investment & hours of entertainment.

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I went with the transparent red sunburst finish. Simply love it!! More beautiful than the online photos. It plays and sounds great for a thin body guitar. I tuned it up straight out of the box over a month ago and it has held up to daily playing without falling out of tune. I was very surprised at the crisp, warm tone I could get from plugging it up to an amp or a powered mixer. Best investment I ever made on an acoustic-electric guitar. I purchased an Ibanez hardshell case for mine. It fits very snug and secure too.

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is very nice. I've been playing for 30 years - rock, Jazz, country. As others have stated, the guitar is comfortable, and sounds great. I did not get it set up, but it plays like a dream anyway. The sound is very even across the fret board. Electronics are nice. Certainly worth the money.Get a cheap classical guitar case, and you are good to go!

Pros

  • Decent Tone Unplugged
  • Easy to play

Cons

    Best Uses

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Compared a bunch of acoustic/electric cutaway guitars in this price range online (Yamaha, Epiphone, other Ibanez), but when I went and played it in store this was the obvious choice. Some others may have better tone unplugged (although it's still decent, but less oomph than a bigger guitar), but once plugged in this is a beauty. You actually have a pretty wide tonal range open to you, though I pretty much leave mine about mid, but with a bit more bass.

This is also by far one of the easiest guitars to play. I'm a intermediate guitarist, and haven't played on a lot of truly great guitars, but when I picked this up the store it was noticeably easier than others at this price.

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I first received this guitar about 3 years ago. I had been playing guitar for 6 months and my grandparents offered to buy me a new guitar for my birthday. I chose this one, and bought it from Guitar Center for around 300. Now, 3 years later, I am still playing it, and it sounds great especially with D'addario Phosphor Bronze strings. It has a really full sound for a thin bodied guitar, and sounds great unplugged. The only problem is that it loses some of its fullness when plugged in, but still sounds good. The XLR input has saved my life a couple times when we did not have a DI box to convert an XLR to a 1/4 in. Overall I think this guitar is great for anyone who need a light throwaround guitar, or for any beginner!

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was looking for that crispy/boxy tone of a Selmer Django-style box in an inexpensive acoustic-electric. Plugged in, I've been able to approach the sound I'm looking for. The flame sycamore topwood & mahogany ribs & back are quite good looking. The neck has a good shape & the guitar intonates well & plays well. Fishman p-up & pre-amp are pretty good. A bargain at the price. Plus, I can play it 'round the campfire without worrying about damaging a costly instrument. So far, I am pleased.
Everything a person might need in an inexpensive guitar. A good tuner, pickup, preamp. The inlays/bindings are top-notch. Good machine heads. It's beautiful!
Pretty good for a plywood model. Some minor cosmetic issues. Nice neck, good intonation. Seems solid. Only had two weeks and so far, satisfied.
For the price, this guitar fills the bill. (See next).

This guitar is definitely a bang for your buck. When my dad bought me this guitar for my 16th birthday I was a bit skeptical because it was an ibanez acoustic. Them being a mainly metalish industry I was ready to send it back! I changed the strings to some DR Zebra's and man she SUNG! I can't tell you how happy I am with this guitar. Definitely recommend this guitar to anyone!

This guitar is beautiful. It is very thin, about 2 1/2 inches to 3 inces wide. It plays like an electic but sounds liek an acoustic. Played out of an amp (fender acoustasonic) it is very warm, smooth and has a nice low end. I tell people to guess the price and they say..." about 700$?" It is a nice color and built well. A+

I have always liked Ibanez electrics, but this is my first acoustic. I was not disappointed. For under $300, you would be hard pressed to find a better acoustic/electric. It plays very smoothly, the finish is beautiful and it will suit my needs very well. PROS: Nice neck, plays smooth, well set up out of the box, nice sustain, well built, plays very smoothly, XLR and 1/4" output jack. CONS: Thin sound (but it is a thin body), tuner is not perfectly accurate but a nice feature.

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I like the looks, however the sound unplugged is very "tinny" and sounds like a toy. Plugged in, and the sound becomes full and has great tone. Overall it is an "ok" guitar with mediocre playability.
Ok, when looking at this guitar it looks beautiful. The gold tuners, flamed top, abalone around the soundhole. Altogether it's great! The electronics are the best part of this guitar because it allows the guitar to have great tones. I will say the electronics allow great modeling, and the tones are superb.
The quality of this guitar is a 6 because of the cheap feel of the electronics, my battery pack clip broke, and now I have to wedge a piece of paper in it to keep it closed. In order to fix it, you have to buy a piece that is worth as 1/2 the value of the guitar NOT WORTH IT. Personally I am thinking about selling it, because I don't enjoy myself when I play it. Those who are looking to Ibanez for a guitar, their electrics are MUCH better!

It definitely holds its own next to my brother's Taylor when we lead worship together. It has a bright tone, which I like, and really captivates the listener. It's a gorgeous looking guitar, but also proves it's more than just a "pretty face." :)

I saw this guitar and the looks caught my eye. I seriously considered buying it and then I played it. The Action was okay but it sounded cheap...that is thin with no real bottom..like an Aplause guitar. I kept looking at this beautiful guitar with no full resonant tone. I was sad to leave it but with no solid wood back, sides, or even a solid top, I left this baby for the untrained eye to get cuaght on the looks of this guitar. It was no big loss I found a Martin D-15 scatch N dent for the same price.
