OVERVIEW

Worn in looks, warmed up tones.

There’s something enticing about the look of an older, vintage guitar—well worn with battle scars, earned throughout its years of hard use. Much like a vintage leather jacket or rare antique furnishings, it immediately feels comfortable and sets a tone unlike anything brand new, right off the shelf. It’s this idea that inspired the new Ibanez Artcore Vintage Series.

Lurking beneath its aged looking façade and smoky, low gloss finish is a sophisticated semi-hollow that can easily handle almost any musical challenge imaginable. The AMV10A features a select-grade Maple, smaller semi-hollow body that merges a scooped, airy tone with the presence and sustain of a solid body.

The Artcore Vintage Mahogany neck, proven on literally thousands of Ibanez guitars over the years, features a bound Rosewood fretboard with warm Aged White block inlays, and is joined to the body at the 17th fret for comfortable access to higher notes. Mounted into the center block for increased sustain and feedback elimination—Ibanez Classic Elite pickups offer warm, ultra-responsive tone with moderate output that allow the AMV10A to venture well beyond the realm of most other semi-hollow guitars. Case sold separately.

Best Uses

Comments about Ibanez Artcore Vintage Series AMV10A Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar:

I play in a Classic Rock/Blues bar band. I like the versatility, lotsa different sounds possible. Great sustain, nice break-up with very little gain. Nice bite on the bridge p/u, but nice thick sound from the neck p/u. The body leans away from me a bit when standing. Wish the strap button was on the upper horn rather than back of the neck joint. I usually play a Strat, but I like the short scale better, easier to reach up the neck with my little finger. I thought I would love the fat neck, what with advancing arthritis, but I'm still on the fence on that. Its a long reach to get my thumb around to the sixth string. Maybe as I get used to it, I'll like it better. Several high frets needed filing. I did switch from the factory 10's to 9's, which neccesitated some truss rod tweaks. Didn't change the sound that I can tell. After fret leveling, I was able to get the action pretty low, very easy to play and bend. I'd buy this guitar again, unless somebody gave me an ES-339.
