OVERVIEW

The warmth and classic vibe of a favorite guitar from the past.

The Grand Concert body shape of the AV4CE Artwood Vintage Grand Concert, along with the Thermo Aged solid Sitka spruce top with Thermo Aged Spruce X bracing, delivers an enormous frequency range. Mahogany body back and sides with tortoiseshell binding gives this guitar a true vintage vibe. The mahogany soft V shape neck in satin finish with a rosewood fretboard provides playing comfort. Open gear tuners with butter bean knobs (18:1 gear ratio) ensure accurate, stable tuning and help reduce the headstock weight, while bringing vintage vibe in its looks. Bone is chosen for the nut and saddle because of its ability to transfer the string vibration naturally. D'Addario Nickel Bronze strings emphasize the natural voice of Thermo Aged wood with incredible clarity, resonance and projection. The AV4CE is equipped with a Fishman Sonitone preamp system mounted in the soundhole to minimize additional cuts in the body that effect the sound of the guitar. This provides you the best of both worlds.

The "modern approach to acoustic guitar tradition" has long been Ibanez's catchphrase for the Artwood Series. Artwood Vintage steps even further back in history and borrows the best features of highly desired vintage instruments.

The Artwood Vintage Series now showcases another vintage element by applying an "aging" process to the tonewood — "Thermo Aged" tonewood, made by a special drying process at a high temperature which is commonly known as "baking" or "torrefaction". Only choice selected and seasoned tone wood can be cured to Thermo Aged wood. The wood is heated in a vacuum with a specific recipe for each kind of the wood in order to release water and decompose resin contained within the wood. As a result, Thermo Aged tonewood becomes light, hard and stable like tonewood dried for decades, while providing amazing response and a louder sound. The tone character includes a full-bodied low-end and a great smooth sustain in the treble strings which are common features of vintage guitars.

Comments about Ibanez AV4CE Artwood Vintage Grand Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

After adjusting the neck angle and taking a little off the saddle, the guitar played beautifully. That's the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star review. It does sound like a guitar that has some age to it. Very nice balanced and round tone. Definitely worth the 270 I paid on the Stupid Deal of the Day..

Comments about Ibanez AV4CE Artwood Vintage Grand Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar arrived to me ready to go. Not so on the last Ibanez i purchased online. Along with the decent sound, good looks, the size is what I really appreciate. I bought this for home use for it's size, but I wouldn't hesitate to take this out. The Thermo Aged solid top in this price range is a big reason I gave this one a shot. I compared the sound to my solid tops and sides and this little acoustic held its own.

Comments about Ibanez AV4CE Artwood Vintage Grand Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

As with the other Ibanez Artwood Series I've owned/played, the fret board is pretty wide, really good for larger finger players. I love the tone and balance in the Artwood instruments series. I haven't had the chance to test the electronics yet. Still, If you can catch one of these on sale... Grab one!
