great guitar, hilariously over priced

By Nick Tamagni

Comments about Jackson Adrian Smith San Dimas Dinky Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar...but it is so outrageously over priced. It is literally a charvel socal with jackson on the headstock and sold for more money. The charvel has the same quarter sawn 12-16 compound radius neck, the same body and almost near identical hardware. If you're Adrians biggest fan then this is a great guitar, but if you're on the hunt for a super strat you can buy a USA charvel socal in polar white for less, change the pickguard, put those pickups in and you would have the same guitar.

Nice guitar

Comments about Jackson Adrian Smith San Dimas Dinky Electric Guitar:

I am a Les Paul player, but thought I should branch out. This arrived, and I was pleased with the quality and workmanship of the guitar. Everything is put together nicely and it sounds great. The ebony fretboard and jumbo frets make this thing as smooth as silk. Just two things to consider as far as personal preferences go...the neck is super thin, thinner than an Ibanez. Also, to adjust the truss rod you have to remove the neck. If those don't matter to you, you will love this guitar.

Amazing

Comments about Jackson Adrian Smith San Dimas Dinky Electric Guitar:

I've played Jacksons in the store many times and have been unimpressed, but this one is an extremely good build with perfect tone and sustain. The pickup choice is just right to give you a huge range of style, and the fretboard is awesome. The body is angled perfectly so the floyd sits on top with very clean simple routing but with all the flexibility you'd expect. I putting away the Strat and Les Paul for a while...

Expensive but worth it

Comments about Jackson Adrian Smith San Dimas Dinky Electric Guitar:

A visit to the Jackson website showed me something that I recently thought only wishful thinking, an Adrian Smith signature guitar. This guitar costs a few dollars but is worth every penny. The neck was a little thicker than I was expecting but that's just a minor set back. The overall playability and tonal output are amazing. Although the one I own is the maple fretboard and black pickguard model I'm sure the ebony fretboard model is just as good.

Comments about Jackson Adrian Smith San Dimas Dinky Electric Guitar:

First off....Excellent guitar. You get what you pay for & it's worth the price. Best neck I've ever put my hands on. Silky smooth playability. Great pickups & electronics. Stays in tune extremely well.

First one I received had a seized intonation screw. Rather than keep it and have to use a dremel to get the screw off and possibly have to replace a saddle, etc. I exchanged it for a new one. However, the exchange was not new. Box had been opened and re-taped shut. No film over the pick guard. Inspection tag was in the case when it should be on the tuning peg. Little chip on the pick guard & black smudges on edge of the pick guard as well. Very disappointing & frustrating that MF would try to deceive someone into taking a used/open box as new. People spending this kind of money on a guitar knows the difference between new vs. used. Especially considering the original was new & came in much better condition than this one.

Now, I have to wait a month and a half for a new one to arrive & go through the hassle of returning yet another instrument. I understand getting one with a defect. But, when a "new" replacement arrives as a used piece of gear, there really is no excuse for that.

But, I am not going to ding the guitar rating for having order difficulties. It really is a great instrument and can't wait to finally get one I can call my own.

Comments about Jackson Adrian Smith San Dimas Dinky Electric Guitar:

One word - an extremely capable guitar. I got the model with ebony fretboard. I mostly use the bridge pickup as I play thrash metal. But it got two Fender SCNs which open up a whole new tonal spectrum. The fretboard & the neck is super fast & very comfortable. The finish is flawless and the guitar looks awesome even though I am not a big fan of white guitars. I couldn't make it go out of tune after messing with the Floyd rose for hours - lol I have a Gibson explorer that I like very much, but this one is going to be my new favorite. Yes, it is expensive, but I got what I paid for - a very versatile axe that oozes wide range of tones and quality. Kudos to Jackson & Adrian for this one.
