A trip to Margaritaville is just a Martin guitar away.

The Limited-Edition Martin LX Jimmy Buffett guitar delivers the same "go everywhere" design and materials as the popular LXM "Little Martin": a modified "0-size" 14-fret shape and short 23" scale, with an HPL (high-pressure laminate) body matched to Sitka spruce top bracing, a modified low-oval 1-11/16" (at the nut) Stratabond neck, and a Richlite fingerboard and belly-bridge. The LX Jimmy Buffett guitar is fitted with chrome tuners, a Corian nut, and a compensated Tusq saddle. But it's the eye-catching appointments that give the Martin LX Jimmy Buffett beach credentials. "Koawood" pattern back and sides are reminiscent of Martin's early Hawaiian guitars and ukuleles. On the headstock, the black HPL headplate highlights the familiar "C. F. Martin" logo and reproduction of Jimmy Buffett's signature. A tropical windswept palm design adorns the body. This edition is limited to 300 pieces.

What?! Martins Made in Mexico?

See all my reviews

Well, when it arrived in the nice Martin Guitar box that clearly has "Made in Mexico" right in the middle and on the guitar labelitself. Not that thats a bad thing, but I didn't know that, and for collecting limited edition guitars that kinda lowers future expectations. I would have expected a lower price, but again its Martin high quality as usual. The guitar comes in a very nice thick Martin gig bag with the logo embroidered on the front. It was surprisingly smaller than I thought, but very nice details as one would expect from Martin. The guitar on first strum was in tune and had good volume and a curiously enjoyable tone. Not the bright "chingy" crisp sound but a nice mid toned guitar sound and sustained resonance. The neck is really really comfy and plays very clean with good intonation, the "stratabond" neck material looks like perfectly laminated wood strips. Martin has made it easy to change the bridge, but the action is fine to me. Might have stumbled on a great little guitar to serenade friends with. This is mostly composite and more forgiving in the elements so living at the beach is no problem, other than string corrosion. The Buffet graphics and signatures are cool and the Martin machines are top notch.Martin has done a nice job on this cool fun little guitar and conversation piece.I wish online musical product companies and retailers would reveal/disclose what country the product is made.So a good surprise in a small package, for a limited edition of 300 units, at a fair price? Time will tell.
