A clean D-14 built for the long haul with plenty of dynamics for punchy performance.

The custom 6-string X Series Custom DX1 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar features a D-14 dreadnought body designed to produce a powerful, well-balanced tone that is perfect for live performance and in the studio. Pairing the Sitka spruce top with the mahogany HPL back and sides, this X Series Custom DX1 has a big, punchy tone, with all the sustain you have come to expect from a Martin guitar. The mortise-and-tenon neck joint ensures solid construction of the guitar, with optimal resonant tone, while eliminating drop-off in the finer dynamics.

This Martin guitar's laminate birch neck is a multilayered wood creation, bonding layers of wood under extremely high pressure. The material is then carved and finished in a conventional manner. The end result is a very strong neck that provides definition and articulate sustain from note to note.

The modified low oval neck shape, 25.4 in. scale, 1-11/16 in. nut width, and 16 in. radius provide comfort and dexterity when performing intricate movements and progressions along the black Richlite fretboard.

Other features include a hand-rubbed satin finish, customized rosette, East Indian rosewood HPL headplate and chrome tuners. This guitar has the look and sound of a highly collectible Martin guitar, but goes for a price that anyone can afford. Embrace the dream of owning your very own Martin guitar, at a price that is too good to pass up.

Great sound... great price

Comments about Martin X Series Custom DX1 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Bought one last Christmas for myself and very glad I did. I'm an old picker with 51 years bending the strings and used to play in bands in the 70's. Now I just play for fun and meditation. I had always admired the sound and heritage of Martin's. But with family and life, it's hard to justify $2k+ for a hobby item. They finally made one that I could afford. I have my old Strat, an Ovation, a Luna Eagle (great sound also) and six acoustics of inexpensive nature and this one just sounds great. My buddy with a Gibson J-45 offered to trade me after he played it. Some folks with the expensive Martins say these are not really Martins because of the composite sides, back and neck, but they are guaranteed. I'm glad someone is thinking about using brains and engineering to make guitars more eco friendly. But I'm of the opinion that if it sounds good... go with it. This sounds great and if you always wanted a Martin but couldn't cough up the money... now you can. It doesn't have the electronics of the DX1AE... but I'm ok with that.
