Comments about X Series LX Koa Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

After a slight neck adjustment and change to light strings, this little guitar is now sounding great! Amazing
sound for its size. I use it the most while relaxing in my recliner and playing during commercials on tv. It
really stays in tune and of course is unaffected by changes in temp or humidity. A really nice soft case is included for travel. It would be a great addition to any collection no matter what level you are as a player.

Comments about X Series LX Koa Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

This is a great small guitar. The sound is wonderful, and it plays like a Martin. Make sure you are aware this is a very short scale guitar, about 2 and 1/2 inches shorter than a Dreadnaught. Great for smaller hands. I purchased this guitar to take it camping. It is a very well made instrument. I am pleased.

Comments about X Series LX Koa Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

I see far too many people talking about this guitar not being effected by temperature and humidity. This is blatantly FALSE. If you don't believe me, contact Martin and see what they have to say. The bracing inside this guitar is solid wood, therefore it still needs correct temperature and humidity. Is the HPL more durable than solid wood? Sure, it probably is. You still have to consider the bracing and actual wood in the guitar though. Take care of it just like you would any other guitar. Otherwise, you're asking for trouble.

The sound of the guitar is just okay to my ears. It is very scratch resistant it seems, if that's something you're after. The playability is good. The size is comfortable. It is usable. I wouldn't cry if it was my only guitar, but I don't find it as inspiring as some others.

Comments about X Series LX Koa Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

OK. I wanted more. Comparable to Baby Taylor. Get this for a child, not suitable for a serious musician. If your serious, pay up and get a Wee Lowden, as they are high end travel instruments with fine tonal woods and human craftmanship. Otherwise, accept your fate and know your getting what amounts to a playable, but souless kids instrument. Martin is simply cashing in on the travel guitar market and they did OK. But its just not good enough. Koa? Well, looks like a laminate and sounds like one as well. You get what you pay for period. I returned mine after two days. I like still like toys, but this was one best kept in the toy box.

Comments about X Series LX Koa Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

Of the super small scale length guitars I believe this one is quite workable, mainly as it gives you a chance to grab a guitar in places you might not otherwise play, like in your bed or your car. The low mids and low end are weak but not as toy-like as the babyTaylor. Comes close to competing with the GS Mini but not as loud. If you like the more even response of the Martin over the Taylor this is the best affordable option.

The close fret spacing makes barre chords weird but allow stretches you cant do otherwise so it also can open up new musical ideas. Durability is like having a laminated floor on a wood frame, so its not impervious to water and weather but its also not an expensive investment. Also it is not clear that the koa finish does anything to enhance the sound, but it looks a bit more exotic.

Bought this for travel and couldn't be happier. Great sound projection for its size. Fingered well, but I did file the bridge down for better action. Gig bag included. The only real wood on the guitar is in the neck, but that might be a good thing going to different climates. I would definitely purchase this again.
