OVERVIEW

A carved top, bolt-on maple neck and great-sounding electronics.

The Mitchell MD300 features a carved top, double cutaway, basswood body and a one-piece, bolt-on maple neck, offering outstanding resonance and articulation. For a more advanced, modern sound, there's a rail-style ceramic humbucker in the bridge and a mini-rail Alnico V humbucker in the neck position. They both provide a more consistent magnetic pull versus standard pole pieces, which enhances overall tone and sustain. It also allows for additional picking room for advanced players while also expanding the visual beauty of the guitar top. The string-thru body design increases sustain even further, and high-ratio locking tuning machines make precise tuning easy.

Before delivery to our dealers, all Mitchell electric guitars receive a complete stateside setup and quality control inspection to ensure exceptional playability. Available in Walnut Satin (WS), Black (BK) and Blood Red (BR). Case sold separately.

MD300 Features
• Modern carved basswood double-cutaway body and a maple neck with smooth fretboard
• H/mini-H pickup configuration with paraffin-dipped, rail-style Alnico V pickups to reduce microphonics and unwanted feedback while mitigating tonal dropouts
• Deep Bevel Cutaway (DBC) design allows for complete fretboard access
• String-through body design and traditional, adjustable TOM-style bridge for outstanding sustain and solid intonation
• Locking tuning machines and Graph Tech TUSQ XL reduced-friction nut enhance tuning stability
• High-tensile strength fretwire for durability and smooth playability

The hotrails in this guitar are quite heavily mid focused, almost sounding compressed, and their high output tends to need a little backing off to get a brighter tone. It's not a Strat-style tone, so if you're looking for that, this maybe isn't the guitar for you. Despite the body style, it sounds more like a Les Paul. It's a decidedly "modern" profile and while the design is good, the lack of any real bright presence leaves a lot to be desired. If you are a thrasher or a modern metal player, this might be a good choice. My particular unit was setup well. For the money, it was an excellent value. The frets were dressed and crowned well and their jumbo size feels nice. This is my first 24 fret, so it does take some getting used to.

Well, sad to say it but I returned the Walnut Stain MD300 I bought from MF after just a week of ownership. The fret-board was hideous (looked like someone waxed it with a power buffer and car wax) and the finish had too many blemishes in it. The locking "B" tuner was busted right out of the box. It did sound good though. The bridge pickup output measured 12.25 ohms and the electronics were flawless.

Comments about Mitchell MD300 Modern Rock Double Cutaway Electric Guitar:

I got it from MF yesterday and not a single fret has been filed on either end. So once I have a complete fret job done on it, it will be fine and I will use it as a back up guitar. I have other Mitchell guitars and they are first rate. This guitar has never been set up by Mitchell as I know their set ups. The craftsmanship and the electronics are fine ,and that alone is worth the price MF sells it for.

Comments about Mitchell MD300 Modern Rock Double Cutaway Electric Guitar:

I play modern country and classic rock, and lowering the bridge pickup produced better tones. Frets are well dressed. The hardware is as good as any I have played. Craftsmanship is better than most inexpensive guitars on the market today.

Comments about Mitchell MD300 Modern Rock Double Cutaway Electric Guitar:

Great guitar in it's price range, plays and sounds good for rock and jazz music that's not too demanding; I enjoy playing mine and would suggest the M300 to anyone from beginner to novice playing music that is not demanding like baroque, fusion or progressive and very precise but for Joe Bonamassa blues or Prince it's plenty good enough.

Comments about Mitchell MD300 Modern Rock Double Cutaway Electric Guitar:

This is a very versatile guitar. Great for the price. The pickups aren't anything special, but they are good and coil tap makes them able to play a lot of different tones. You can go from metal to blues without having to step on a pedal or mess with your amp. Neck is good for fast playing. Bridge gives good sustain. Locking tuners are nice. The pots aren't great, but they still function. I don't do a ton of volume swells, but if that's important to you then you might want to replace the pot. It's cheaper than buying a more expensive guitar, and the other features make this guitar well worth it.

This guitar is a lot more than I was expecting. With the exception of the frets needing filing on the neck edges, it really puts out. Powerful PU's, great fast neck, great sound and very sharp looking. You can cover the tones of a Strat and close to a Les Paul on this. Well worth the money. Finish is flawless with a heavy shine.
