OVERVIEW

(Open Box) The innovation at the heart of the Les Paul with the added bonus of always being in tune.

The 2013 Les Paul Future Tribute captures the look, feel, and tone of the guitar world' most legendary single-cutaway solidbody, and equips it for the player of the future”making it available today. Primed for optimum playability and versatility, the Les Paul Future Tribute carries a pair of œzebra-coil ™57 Classic humbucking pickups for a blend of vintage warmth and contemporary articulation, along with a superbly comfortable custom asymmetrical neck profile. Gibson' acclaimed bridge and tailpiece team up with futuristic Steinberger gearless tuners to ensure smooth playability and precise tuning and intonation. And this Les Paul Future Tribute comes upgraded with Min-ETune automated œRobot tuners for a nominal upcharge.

The Les Paul Future Tribute takes the classic platform of the original Les Paul Standards forward into the 21st century by starting with the timeless tonewood combination of a mahogany body with solid carved maple top. When paired, these woods offer a tonal depth and complexity unmatched by any single-wood construction, with warmth and richness from the mahogany, and superb clarity and œsnap from the maple, all of which translates to surprising breadth and articulation within the guitar' amplified voice. The mahogany back is strategically weight relieved using modern weight relief methods to both lighten your load and improve resonance.

A solid mahogany neck is glued into the body in Gibson' time-tested tradition, and carved to an ergonomic and superbly comfortable new asymmetrical profile that fits the natural shape of the human hand, with depths of .800 at the 1st fret and .875 at the 12th, making this one of the most playable Les Pauls yet created. It is topped with a genuine rosewood fingerboard that carries 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional trapezoid inlays. In keeping with the stripped-down ethos of this powerful performer, both body and ™board remain unbound, and there' no pickguard to obscure the finish. A PLEK-cut nut made from black Corian subtly complements the knurled chrome knobs and black pickup rings, while enhancing resonance and sustain. The headstock is silkscreened with a gold Gibson logo and Les Paul Model.

The Les Paul Future Tribute ensures its sonic versatility and hot looks with a pair of zebra-coil ™57 Classic humbucking pickups, consisting of a standard-wound humbucker in the neck position and a slightly over-wound ™57 Classic Plus for hotter lead tones in the bridge position. The ™57 Classics begin in the image of Gibson' esteemed PAF humbuckers, with genuine Alnico 2 magnets and 42-AWG enamel-coated wire, but are enhanced with evenly matched coils for a smooth, singing tone, and wax potting to combat microphonic squeal at high volume levels. The result is a pickup that is thick, rich, and warm, yet clear and articulate”perfect for the broad demands of today' music. The traditional wiring complement of an independent volume and tone control per pickup plus a three-way toggle selector switch allows a broad range of sonic variations.

To anchor it all down, Gibson USA loads in a classic Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece, then rams it all into the future with a set of super-efficient Steinberger gearless tuners, a hardware set that partners up for solid sustain and precision tuning. Put it all together, and the Les Paul Future Tribute presents the perfect way to celebrate the Les Paul in the 21st century, wrapping it all into a great guitar that brings the look, feel, and sound of a classic Les Paul to the hands of the demanding players of today.

Each guitar includes a black Gibson gig bag, owner' manual and truss rod wrench.

Min-ETune automated œrobot tuners
Min-ETune is a small compact battery powered tuning unit that sits on the back of the guitar ” a mighty enhancement to an already great instrument. No need for screws, wiring or routing, in fact the system is hardly visible from the front of the guitar. You can still adjust the tuning pegs manually or turn on the Min-ETune to choose from 12 popular tunings or program 6 of your own.

Always In Tune
A guitar with Min-ETune looks the same, feels the same, plays the same and rocks the same - it' just always in tune. Adjust to other instruments' imperfect tuning with Reference Tuning and keep that harmony going. Perfect for home, studio and gigging: The internal lithium battery lasts for 80 to 100 tunings on just one charge. Rock longer with the fast and accurate Min-ETune, tuning your guitar in just 3 seconds and 1 strum.

In Perfect Harmony
Digital tuners that emulate open tunings are available BUT because the Min-ETune physically turns the tuners, the system is always organic and natural. There' no delay, no dampening and no dead sound ” just the natural vibration of guitar strings in total harmony with the vibrations coming out of the amp producing ringing harmonics and powerful sustain.

Rock Out
With the new Min-ETune equipped guitars all you have to do is PUSH the button, STRUM, get TUNED and ROCK out. Min-ETune is a huge boost to the live performer, the touring professional, the experienced enthusiast, the beginner and novice player alike.

Save time and money in the studio because the tuning system is so fast and accurate. And Min-ETune is a priceless tool for writing creatively with its instant access to the sounds your muse demands. Perfect for the professional “ Min-ETune will have you rocking around the clock.

Travel light to your next gig or across the globe, just one guitar does the work of multiple guitars in different tunings “ perfect for the enthusiast. Keep on rocking and experiment with a wide range of alternate tunings or program your own and save it forever with Min-ETune.

Spend less time learning to tune and more time learning to play the guitar. Perfect for the beginner “ Min-ETune puts a variety of tunings at your fingertips. You are ready to rock? With Min-ETune you can even experiment with open tunings, something that usually takes years of practice.

As this was a SOTD, and since it was a "New Old Stock" item that was made 4 years before I bought it, I didn't have a lot of high expectations. I figured this would have some blemishes, or need some work, having sat around a warehouse for four years. I was right.

1) The Min-Etune isn't as bad as you might think. You don't have to use it, but if you do it's easy to use and could be useful for quick changes from one tuning to another. It's also helpful if you lose your Snark and can't hear the strings in a loud environment. Even so, most won't like it.
2) The pickups are nice. I don't feel the need to replace them. Versatile, good clarity, responsive - not the best I've ever heard, but better than the stock pickups on many guitars.
3) The neck is middle-of-the-road. Not too chunky, not sleek and fast. It feels substantial, which helps when you're really leaning into those bends and when you're grabbing a handful of strings.
4) The Nitro-Cellulose finish is kind of iffy. Mine had a sizable spot where it stuck to the included gig-bag, as if it had gotten wet (or was still we when it was put in the bag). Some of the finish came off inside the bag. I understand that Nitro is nice if you want it to age quickly, but some of us just want it to look perpetually perfect. It's not a high gloss, but instead a semi-gloss with a porous feel on the back and neck.
5) The bridge isn't great - it rocks forward under tension, and the strings can easily jump out of their slots.
6) The tail-piece also moves a bit.
7) The electronics should be better than this. The tone pot had a dry solder joint, the tone is muddy when rolled about halfway down, and it needs a treble-bleed for the volume.
8) The frets were sprouting when I got it, the fret ends aren't filed, and the frets seem like they weren't crowned properly. I had to do a lot of work to get the frets right. Disappointing for a USA-made Gibson. or any guitar at this price.

Overall, it should be better.

quite different from my more 'traditional' les paul. the tuning knobs are pretty useless. i don/t use drop tuning, but it/s good they provide for it. volume and tuning are metal knobs. the left hand *feels* like an 'l p' - the right, not so much. as a second 'l p', this is a neat machine. not too expensive. color is nice (wine red). this looks to be my primary in concert l.p.

I bought this guitar as the SDOTD and thought it sounded like a great deal. The guitar arrived timely, but when opened I found they shipped me one without min-Etune. I know people hate min-Etune, but I wanted what I paid for and did not receive it. The gig bag had a charger, and instructions for min-Etune, but since the guitar didn't include it's all worthless.

At the Stupid Deal price it was half off street and a quarter of the list price, low gloss satin finish is awesome the minEtube is being replaced on mine so add that to the cost and the FUTURE truss rod cover will be ditched for a plain one or one that says STUDIO in the future.

I normally play bluegrass mandolin, guitar bass and banjo. I also enjoy playing electric guitar, lap steel, tenor ukulele and my merlin dulcimer in Church. The Gibson Electric guitar is just what I wanted and works perfectly to suit my needs.

Comments about Gibson 2013 Les Paul Future Tribute Min-ETune Electric Guitar:

I purchased this a stupid deal of the day and the model has been discontinued, but MF asked for a review, so here it is. The guitar plays well, but I am not fond of the Mini-e tune system. It is not as quick as I would have thought and I don't foresee it lasting the life of the guitar. Craftsmanship is probably at a 4 star level for this model as well. This is the second "lower end" Gibson LP I have purchased and it seems like Gibson doesn't put the love into these models. Finish is adequate, the wrap on the pickup coils is sloppy, and attention to detail is not there. I will say it plays well and sounds good and only needed minor tweaking, which is to be expected from a guitar that's been sitting in a box. I would not pay full price for it and would not recommend the electronic tuners. Again, this is a 2013 model which has been discontinued and was being liquidated, but I believe Gibson is going through phase since about 2013 and I will personally steer clear from any lower end full priced Gibson's.

Very poor quality. Nut was uncut on low e and cut too deep elsewhere. guitar came unplayable. I would recommend buying an old Japanese made guitars and you will be doing urself a favor. I have epis that are twice the build quality than these. Gibson should be ashamed of themselves for selling this junk. I am a real player/luthier for the last 30+ years and have an extensive collection of guitars. I actually bought these on stupid deal of day.I bought all 3 models black/sunburst/wine red. 549 I thought I really couldn't go wrong. I was wrong even less than half price I wouldn't buy ever again sent them back..i even thought about reselling but I couldn't sell someone a big pile. Steer clear of Gibson

All arched neck guitars should have hard cases as with the soft case, something bad is bound to happen
